I don't understand how it goes from Vegeta's normal hair to Goku's super saiyan hair

[–]Wairong 11 points12 points ago

I noticed it, too. Maybe we should go outside for a bit.

[–]emu420 5 points6 points ago

I think it's because it's animated.

[–]Tylerurby 3 points4 points ago

I thought the exact same thing. XD

[–]Infamous_Rage 66 points67 points ago

Little extended version And you have my respect, nice job =)

[–]elozano6879[S] 23 points24 points ago

...Dude, that's... FUCKIN SICK!!!!!

[–]jzupp 2 points3 points ago

Did you see Yamcha to the right of him?

[–]iammolotov 1 point2 points ago

I'm also a fan of this one.

[–]irishpapi 84 points85 points ago

As a rep for Phillip-Morris, we would like to congratulate you on this momentus achievement and reward your solidarity with a coupon for thirty packs of cigarettes!

[–]Internetallstar 22 points23 points ago

Thirty packs of cigarettes = roughly 150 dollars. I will take those coupons please and thank you.

[–]WARGLBARGL 13 points14 points ago

300+ depending on brand and location.

[–]elozano6879[S] 44 points45 points ago

My cigarettes cost $5.75 with tax (Camel Turkish Royal). So over 100 days I would have smoked more than 100, but let's just say 100 packs... That's $575 I haven't spent and 2,000 cigarettes I haven't smoked.

[–]koakreeper 20 points21 points ago

I smoked royals for 10 years. quit cold turkey on saturday.

[–]_Particle_Man_ 20 points21 points ago

cold turkish

[–]elozano6879[S] 9 points10 points ago

Keep it up!!!

[–]Goofychems 1 point2 points ago

I loved those too before I quit 4 months ago. I don't know why so many people say it's so difficult to quit cold turkey. I haven't even had a big craving since I last quit (10 year smoker, btw). Some people are different maybe?

[–]EquityDiversity 5 points6 points ago

My cigarettes cost me 7.05 a pack (Camel Lights). I smoked a pack a day. Quit last april. I've saved roughly 2,800.00 dollars in a year+.

[–]elozano6879[S] 6 points7 points ago

More importantly, over 7,300 cigarettes you didn't smoke!

[–]Doughb0y 3 points4 points ago

It's crazy thinking about how much shit you put in your lungs after say, 10 years..lets say a pack a day...73,000 cigarettes. I smoked for about a year about half a pack a day once i got hooked. Just the thought of smoking 3,650 cigarettes a year made me quit cold turkey. Im just glad i didnt go longer. Great job OP :)

[–]tieme 3 points4 points ago

Man you guys make me want to quit.

[–]alternateF4 1 point2 points ago

don't.

[–]natglad1 1 point2 points ago

I quit last January and lasted about 4 months. I cheated eventually and now I am smoking between 2 - 4 cigs a day. Even though I have been able to keep it down to that level, the craving comes right back up to the same level as when I was a pack a day, I just force myself not to smoke that many. I am gonna quit completely again soon. Whatever happens, don't smoke that one cigarette again, because it is so hard not to have another soon after. One thing that makes it hard for me is I live overseas in an Arab country (I am an American expat). Here just about everyone smokes, everywhere, and a pack of Marlboros costs less than $1.95 USD

[–]pokertard 1 point2 points ago

I did some math for myself.. It's been 2193 days since I quit smoking. Now to quit drinking...

[–]bamfsalad 5 points6 points ago

One does not simply quit drinking.

[–]Teephphah 4 points5 points ago

Technically, it can be done . . . but . . . why?

[–]Haasts_Eagle 3 points4 points ago

Its huge when you put a number like 2000 on paper. I met a woman who had smoked for 200 pack-years (equivalent of 4 packs a day for 50 years) which is well over 1,500,000 cigarettes. No wonder some people get lung problems...

[–]_Particle_Man_ 1 point2 points ago

my cartons of turkish royal have been on sale for over a month at the indian reservation that i buy them at for $39.99

[–]Dejah_Vu 1 point2 points ago

Yep. The cigarettes I used to smoke ran between $11-13/pack. I had to cut down from a pack a day to 5-6 a day just to afford smoking. I recently quit though - I make a month on Friday!

[–]Whenthenighthascome 1 point2 points ago

I love you Phillip Morris

[–]Judzies 16 points17 points ago

ProTip: Don't ever have one cigarette again - it had been 5 years since my last smoke after quitting cold turkey, and all it took was circumstance meeting opportunity (orphaned box of smokes and a full bottle of vodka on a warm summer day) and now I'm back to half a pack a day.

[–]FordSVT1 6 points7 points ago

That's probably good advice, but I admit I do occasionally have a smoke, usually after already getting loaded, and I never crave them otherwise.

[–]natglad1 1 point2 points ago

me too...although I am up to only 2 - 4 a day since cheating about 2 months ago.

[–]elozano6879[S] 35 points36 points ago

I marked this in my phone 100 days ago and I can't believe I made it!!! :)

[–]rottenseed 19 points20 points ago

Congrats! I'm on day 2 today :)

[–]AttackTribble 8 points9 points ago

The very best of luck. One thing that worked for me was identifying the things that triggered me reaching for a cancer stick, and not doing them. Sitting in a certain chair, certain drinks, etc. Take away the triggers, as best you can; break the pattern.

15 years for me now.

[–]rottenseed 8 points9 points ago

My triggers are things I have to do; drive, eat, etc. I have to face temptation. But that's ok

[–]C_Mickey_D 8 points9 points ago

What I did was when ever I had that feeling of reaching for a smoke I told my self I was just thirsty. I haven't smoked in over a year and I haven't had to pee in over an hour which is something I now have to do. Any way, do the water thing it really works!

[–]jakelegs 5 points6 points ago

I quit in February 2009, and every day activities were hard for me at first. Advice I received was drive a different way home from work, or listen to something different, drink hot tea after dinner, and generally avoid situations that would make you want to smoke. The first month or so I just went to sleep after dinner. I also drove a slightly different path home, and listened to audiobooks. Good luck.

[–][deleted] ago

[–]rckcowboy8 1 point2 points ago

My triggers are other people... Along with driving. And boredom.

[–]Mr_Keno 8 points9 points ago

Hey! Same here! Good luck!!

[–]gimmicked 1 point2 points ago

Day two reporting in. A bit irritable but here i stand!

[–]9mackenzie 2 points3 points ago

I'm on day 7- yay for us!!!

[–]zeppelinfromled 4 points5 points ago

Nice man. Starting is the hardest part. This past Monday was 5 years for me. You'll get there.

[–]Bafungoogoo 2 points3 points ago

I'm about 4 now.

It's nice ain't it ;)

[–]masewise 6 points7 points ago

As a person who has lost 5 smoking family members to lung cancer...don't ever stop. This is an achievement that is not only important for yourself, but everyone else in your life. Please be sure to keep that in mind if you ever think about starting up again.

[–]elozano6879[S] 6 points7 points ago

Thanks, I appreciate the support... Now to just keep losin some weight!

[–]apackofwankers 3 points4 points ago

So, how did you do it?

[–]elozano6879[S] 21 points22 points ago

[–]PuntingYoshi 8 points9 points ago

Takes a lot of will power. Congratulations.

[–]Bafungoogoo 5 points6 points ago

I'm a chantrix. Took the stuff the warm up week and about two more after that. Haven't ever looked back. 30 year habit removed. Can't say why it worked can only say after a hundred tries that was the one.

But whatever it takes. Whatever it takes.

[–]9mackenzie 1 point2 points ago

That stuff worked for me- but unfortunately it gave me the most excruciating headaches. It was so bad I had to quit the stuff and go cold turkey. It's too bad because I didn't even want one with Chantix

[–]Anubisghost 5 points6 points ago

Congrats! I had to use an ECig to quit. I admire your willpower!

[–]markycapone 2 points3 points ago

Cold turkey is the only way that worked for me. I haven't smoked in over 2 years.

[–]Internetallstar 1 point2 points ago

Congrats on quitting. I quit cold turkey at the beginning of the year. It's no fun for the first few weeks but it is definitely worth the effort.

[–]basscheez 2 points3 points ago

Congrats! If you feel weak or think you're about to smoke, PM me and I'll give you a synopsis of the last 10 years of my Dad's death from smoking (COPD). Stay strong!

[–]SkwdSchlr2191 1 point2 points ago

Good work. Congratulations. Wish you the best in kicking the habit for good!

[–]tauisgod 1 point2 points ago

Hang in there man. I'm at 192 days and can just recently climb several flights of stairs without heavy breathing. How'd you quit?

[–]caltheon 1 point2 points ago

I know the feeling. 14 years of camels. Next Tuesday marks one year smoke free. Time to treat yourself to something special.

[–]holden147 1 point2 points ago

Congrats man. My mom is finally quitting smoking (at least going to give it a serious try) this Monday. I think the thing that finally did it for her after 33 years is I actually sat down with her and made her read article after article about the actual risks and numbers associated with smoking.

We also did the math. Over the last 33 years my mom has smoked nearly 500,000 cigarettes. Hoping this Sunday will be her last one.

Congrats on your 100 days, keep fighting!

Edit to add: My father stopped smoking a couple years ago, cold turkey, after smoking 2-3 packs a day for the past 35 years. You can do it!

[–]MillardFillmore13 6 points7 points ago

I got to 120 and started smoking again...not to be a buzzkill but you aren't exactly out of the woods just yet. It's a shitty feeling to start again after so long, so don't do it. I'm only on day 5 now...

[–]dohse 4 points5 points ago

I've quit for a few years at a time before relapsing. The last time I made it 11 months before happening to be with the same group of friends I started smoking with on a bachelor's trip in Vegas. It has been a few months now and I hate every cig and know that I'm only smoking to make the thought that I want to smoke go away, but I still keep pushing back my "eventual" quit date.

tl;dr - next time will be the time I don't start smoking again

[–]sup3r 1 point2 points ago

this wont work for everyone, (maybe not even me), but as a quit again start again smoker im approaching my first year now. i havent been counting the days and im not even sure what day it was when i quit, sometime in late summer.

but i think this has made the difference doing this instead of being proud, counting the days, and getting the feely goodies about quitting. i didn't close the chapter of smoking in my life. when a problem arose, i would think 'well at least im not smoking' and feel good about that.. but smoking was still in my thoughts. eventually the want to smoke will feel greater than the feeling of being happy that i quit.

so reduce the odds of tempting yourself about smoking by never tempting yourself.. just stop thinking about it. its over and done with, and thats all there is to it.

[–]Lefty07 5 points6 points ago

me too, third day though :)

[–]shultzenegger69 5 points6 points ago

Nobody likes a quitter.

[–]stagboss 4 points5 points ago

Awesome job! Keep up the good work, I am on day 18 and you are an inspiration! /sets phone alarm.

[–]theodoramarie 2 points3 points ago

Laughed out loud. Excellent gif choice.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

I bet you felt like shit for the first couple of weeks... must have been tough. Congrats!

[–]elozano6879[S] 7 points8 points ago

Yeah man, I definitely felt like crap. I still have some breathing problems, but those should go away/reduce in time.

[–]jcook793 5 points6 points ago

Congrats, don't forget that tobacco will kill you, motherfucker

[–]AttackTribble 2 points3 points ago

Congratulations!

[–]Kahnza 2 points3 points ago

Congratulations man! Good job! I quit a few years ago. So I know the first few months are the hardest.

[–]DetroitHero 2 points3 points ago

Good on you, Bro! I quit five years ago. It was hard as hell. I used patches and gum, then just gum... I still want one from time to time, but it's bearable AND I feel a lot better too. Just wait until you can taste food!

[–]gertiemalone 1 point2 points ago

Taste food and then be amazed at how much your clothes smell like smoke after hugging a smoker and wonder why it ever seemed ok to smell like that! 4 years down - decades to go! Respect and Congrats to you.

[–]Locutus-of-Borg 2 points3 points ago

35 years smoke free this month. Keep up the good work!

[–]pour7me7another 2 points3 points ago

[–]sitnspinninja 2 points3 points ago

Way to go, I'm on day 35!

[–]SharksCantSwim 2 points3 points ago

Keep up the good work and stay strong. I'm currently on day 17 and it's great to see people doing well.

[–]byproxxy 2 points3 points ago

I'm at almost exactly 24 hours and I'd punch a toddler in the face and put it on YouTube if someone would just give me a cigarette. Holy shit.

[–]Albers1345 5 points6 points ago

Good job man! I'm on day 43, its been extremely hard because I quit smoking and dipping and almost completely quit drinking all at the same time, 2 months of bad moods, keep going!!

[–]zeppelinfromled 5 points6 points ago

The quitting drinking thing was huge for me when I quit smoking. I didn't quit drinking, but I cut back a lot for a while. And it's now been 5 years and 2 days since I've had a cigarette, after being a pack a day smoke for half my life.

[–]Albers1345 4 points5 points ago

I had to almost completely stop drinking cause every time I drink I want to smoke! Vicious cycle but I've got a pretty good handle on it now

[–]Horst665 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, I had the strongest cravings when I was drinking, especially, when others around me smoked. I just went home early on such occasions for a few weeks until I was sure of myself - it got better quickly. I always thought this: do I prefer to lose the invested pains and endure quitting again or do go home an hour early? Was no difficult choice!

Today I am still happy about my decision every now and then, especially when seeing others smoke (or worse: SMELL them)

[–]chrisinurpants 1 point2 points ago

Congrats! I've been smoke free for about 11 months now! Keep with it, you smell better, your mouth feels cleaner, and your cardio improves!

[–]okwaman 1 point2 points ago

im a pack a day smoker right now and would love to quit but can't manage the will power longer then a couple days can you give me some advice on what worked for you?

[–]ladybaglady 2 points3 points ago

I think it comes down to whether or not you really want to quit. I've been smoke free for almost 6 weeks now and I have never felt better! It's all a matter of how much you want it and also remember it's all in your mind! Some things that helped me were drinking water when I had a craving and/or taking a large inhale and exhaling the thought of a cigarette away. Also, when I first quit I would chew on tea tree oil toothpicks. They were good for driving because I could hold them like a cig and also the oral fixation. But instead of killing you and making your breath icky they leave you feeling minty fresh! Good luck!! Just believe in yourself and you've got this!

[–]Gig-lio-nona-romicon 2 points3 points ago

11 months in after smoking for 15 years pack a day....

Do anything and everything to last the first 48 hours. This amount of time will allow most of the nicotine to metabolize and it truly is down hill from there. Set a timer, seclude yourself, do anything it takes to avoid nicotine and make it to 48 hours. If you can do this you can quit for MUCH LONGER.

First comes the calmness of kicking the immediate physical withdrawal symptoms, then the mental game begins.

Depending on how many times you have tried to quit, you may not be angry or determined enough for a cold turkey attempt. Consider this statement as a challenge to your will power. You and any one else can do it. It truly is a mind game. There is no easy way about it. Make it 48 hours no nicotine intake and set more goals. Realize that you aren't in control as an addict.

Your goals once you reach 48 hour mark should define you. Keep the thought of quitting in your head constantly and remind yourself of the reasons you wanted to quit in the first place.

I pictured my late father dying an early death as a lifelong smoker.

I used my own shame of failing to quit previously to fuel my further success. I need to prove to myself that I can conquer not only the addiction, but all other obstacles I feel are insurmountable in my life.

Remember your last cigarette and smoke it like you want to turn into smoke, breathe in deeply and meditate on being one with the smoke and truly enjoy the entirety of the experience. You want to make a memory that you can return to and connect with mentally. Make this last smoke a truly spiritual experience and concentrate on your whole being while you imagine your new self, one that is free of addiction and determined to be healthy.

Hope that helps.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Go cold turkey. Get the worst of it over as quickly as possible. Also, don't drink; you'll want to smoke, and you'll be drunk, so it's game over.

The anti-smoking sites flat-out lie about the time it takes to get over addiction, and very, very few of them mention the nasty side effects that can accompany quitting (aches and pains, bowel problems, acne, cold symptoms, ear infections, etc.). You want honesty? Fuck the anti-smoking sites; go to sites where people are trying to quit heroin for some honesty. Research NA - they know where it's at.

The longer you've smoked and the more heavily you've smoked, the worse it's almost certain to be. I'm currently quitting for the fifth(?) time, on day 38, and it's definitely much, much worse this time around than the previous times. The cravings are just as bad as they were at the beginning and a lot of nasty side-effects are starting to kick in now, making me even more miserable. However, since I've been successful four (?) times in the past I know that this, too, will eventually end, no matter how uncomfortable and disheartening it seems at this particular moment.

Don't think about the future. The future is bullshit. All you need to do is NOT SMOKE TODAY. That's it. Just get through the fucking day. Let the future take care of itself. Go ahead and count the days that've gone by, but don't think about the days ahead. It'll just depress you, especially once you realize the anti-smoking groups have been lying to you and it's going to take MUCH longer than a week or two to get past your addiction. So focus on today, and only today.

Something that also works for me: watch a lot of comedy. Listen to George Carlin on your mp3 player. Anything that makes you laugh makes you hurt less, and for a time you won't notice the symptoms as much. It's hard to be miserable if you're laughing your ass off.

[–]Ianx001 1 point2 points ago

[–]TheGodDamnDevil 1 point2 points ago

First off, /r/stopsmoking

Briefly though, after you make it through the first couple days, the physical addiction is gone and your trouble is finding new routines in your life that don't include smoking. After a few weeks, it just seemed easy to me. I quit cold turkey ~7 months ago and it's among the best and most rewarding things I've ever done. Succeeding at quitting has also given me motivation to do other things I thought I couldn't and it literally makes me feel better every day. Just fucking do it, okay?

[–]smurph5456 1 point2 points ago

anyone find it ironic that he chose a gif of phelps to describe his feelings about quitting smoking? anyway, good job, keep it up =)

[–]Bafungoogoo 2 points3 points ago

Pot and cigs, not even in the same pool. Shit, ain't even the same sport really.

[–]awwc 1 point2 points ago

Bro, big congrats. All I can tell you is to remind yourself every day that you cannot take your quit for granted, and that you are an addict. Eventually, youll forget that you need to remind yourself, and in turn it gets progressively easier. I'm at 800 days ish at the moment, and don't take tomorrow for granted.

[–]screwball83 1 point2 points ago

Came to say congratulations, shit myself laughing at the GIF for 10 minutes.

[–]lukas8u 1 point2 points ago

The crash is coming..

[–]XLegacy 1 point2 points ago

$5.75 with tax? Holy shit, 1 pack with filters here in New Zealand is 50+

[–]FaZaCon 1 point2 points ago

Meh, I quit three years ago, and still crave a cigarette ten times a day. TEN. FUCKING. TIMES. A. DAY.

I actually fantasize about going back to smoking, but the nicotine gives me too much anxiety.

[–]este_hombre 1 point2 points ago

You should celebrate... how about with a cigarette?

[–]tarsdplooger 1 point2 points ago

not very /r/funny but congrats

[–]I-heart-naps 1 point2 points ago

Yay! Congratulations! Today is my first cigarette free day, I had 3 yesterday... Not great, but not terrible considering I smoke a pack a day.

[–]larecherche 4 points5 points ago

Congratulations! I'm trying to quit at the moment. It's the psychological addiction more than the physical addiction that has been getting the best of me so far. Apparently you have more discipline than I do ;)

[–]AttackTribble 3 points4 points ago

For me, changing my routine helped. I'd sit in a certain place, and reach for the cancer sticks. So I stopped sitting in that chair. If you don't do the things that make you think of lighting up, it helps.

Best of luck, friend.

Congrats!! It was my 2 year anniversary last month and I've had a couple of close calls in that time, but resisted. If my aunt didn't make it, I probably would've for a bit though. But man what a triumph for everyone who is able to dig deep and find the willpower to cut tobacco out!

Have you thought about any rewards for yourself at your 1 year anniversary? Some folks take what money they'd have spent on smokes and splurge or just have an awesome day to celebrate for instance. I didn't do anything but admire the car I was able to afford once I quit :)

[–]Chole22 0 points1 point ago

You rock so much. Spread the word!

[–]zaphod5 0 points1 point ago

Congrats!!!! Going without should be a lot easier from now. Keep up the good work!!!!

[–]nomorecake 0 points1 point ago

so you went super saiyan ?

[–]teh_colonel 0 points1 point ago

You feel like Frieza just murdered your best friend? I'm sorry :(

[–]FreightConductor 0 points1 point ago

Kudos! Continue!

[–]TheWaterTemple 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations. Keep it up!

[–]Schrodingers_Cthulu 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations! As a former pack-a-dayer myself I understand the struggle. I'm 2 years in myself. Keep up the good work, you'll only continue to thank yourself for it.

[–]6the6bull6 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations

[–]TheDude66 0 points1 point ago

Congrats man, I'll be 2 years in july, just remember to never smoke one again, not even one, no excuses.

[–]PComotose 0 points1 point ago

Years ... years! ... after I quit, I still occasionally think I'd like to light up. I tell myself "Not this time; next time I can, but not this time."

This has worked for me.

I hope that years from now you can tell somebody else what strategy you have used to keep from smoking for so long.

Congratulations and all the best!

[–]hiddleshoran15 0 points1 point ago

Congrats!!!!! :)

[–]Hello_Internet 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations! Upvote for you!

[–]Hidrocodone 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations man, I quit doing Heroin but I still can't quit cigarettes. I hope you never smoke again.

Edit: Grammar

[–]Lessthanpete 0 points1 point ago

Congrats! I know the feeling I quit October 2, 2011! Whats weird is I feel better than I have since high school!

[–]XaulXan 0 points1 point ago

Congrats. It's a big deal. My 2 year anniversary is coming up August 1st. I was smoking a pack of Newports a day for 7 years and quit cold turkey almost 2 years ago. Not a single drag off a cigarette since. I'm at the point where I can have a cigar here and there and not have to think twice. Keep it up.

[–]Schnoor 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations dude! My dad was the same way.

Anecdote: He used to be a heavy smoker and kept trying different methods to stop smoking. Nothing worked. He eventually went on a trip to Minnesota to visit family and on his way back home through Montana (we're from Washington), he decided to stop and Snowboard a bit. He ended up falling about 3 feet right onto his chest (about 6 or 7 feet from chest to ground) and broke 3 ribs. He ended his trip there and came home. He ended up getting pneumonia and was facing quite ill health, clearly. Whenever he got up to try smoking he had a hard time breathing/inhaling/exhaling, you know, the shit broken ribs and pneumonia do to a person. So he said "fuck it" threw away the 6 packs of cigs he had and stopped smoking right then and there.

[–]sindekit 0 points1 point ago

Damn, so you've been saving quite a lot of money! Good job!

[–]SmokeyTheDogg 0 points1 point ago

Congratulations man and I have also now found one of my new favorite gifs.

[–]fsudhb05 0 points1 point ago

nice job, my whole family used to smoke (i'm the only one who never has) and theyve all suffered through quitting. Congrats on beating it.

[–]Serge3444 0 points1 point ago

This gif never ceases to entertain.

[–]sparky198 0 points1 point ago

Congrats sir (or madam, but judging by a couple of your comments I would guess sir is correct. Many apologies if im wrong), keep it up mate!

[–]Auspants 0 points1 point ago

When my father had his stroke he quit smoking (pack and a half a day for 40 years) and drinking (bottle of port a day, borderline alcoholic) on the spot.

No patches, no AA, he just stopped and that was that, never been prouder. It really convinced me that people who "just can't quit smoking" really just don't WANT to quit and that all the different forms of help that are out there are really just another form of business designed to help you not succeed unless you really wanted to anyway.

[–]lucentflame 0 points1 point ago

My uncle used to be a hardcore smoker. He would often smoke several packs a day, and always had a few "extras" sitting around the house. Quit several years ago after his first kid was born, now he has 3 kids (one more on the way!) , and has never touched a cigarette since. My dad announced that he would quit smoking sometime last year, I can't remember a time where my mom was so overjoyed.

[–]Slyelf 0 points1 point ago

Did you not even once sneak a puff? Did you have dreams where you were hording cigarettes? Any night sweats?

This is my 34th day not smoking. I used to smoke around a pack a day as well. I have awful dreams where I'm smoking like a mad man. Oh and the terrible night sweats..

[–]mozisnows 0 points1 point ago

[–]Raider1213 0 points1 point ago

[–]electrodrop 0 points1 point ago

Used to be up to a pack a day a couple years ago, "quit" a couple times, 20 days max, and am now down to 2-6 a day. Every story I hear gives me hope so that I can quit, so thanks for sharing. Keep fighting the good fight, man.

edit: I accidentally a phrase

[–]mellowmonk 0 points1 point ago
