I kept staring at it then i realized it wasnt a gif.

[–]Ninja_Guin 62 points63 points ago

phew, i wasnt the only one, i slowly moved towards the screen in anticipation too

[–]Apostolate 7 points8 points ago

Something's gonna happen! I just know it! Better not blink... ::5 days later::

[–]Cromiell 4 points5 points ago

Man found dead in front of computer screen!

Cyberpolice suspect foul play!

[–]ASasso 10 points11 points ago

I tried to play it. It didn't work.

[–]Pekin 22 points23 points ago

I was totally expecting it to be a gif of a comically unsuccessful game of Minesweeper, glad I wasn't the only one.

[–]Toodles1823 10 points11 points ago

I did this, but I thought it was a gif because my hand was resting on the mouse, and without knowing it, I was moving my cursor. I stared for a full two minutes waiting for the cursor to click, until I realized it was my cursor and not part of the gif that was in fact a pic.

[–]hawkyyy 11 points12 points ago

I saida to myself "it will start soon", 30secs later i felt like an idiot.

[–]aDarkerKnight 3 points4 points ago

I opened it in a new tab just to make sure

[–]bstormy 1 point2 points ago

Same here...

[–]gumbysgotdabends 110 points111 points ago

The difference is you can win at Minesweeper

[–]recon455 7 points8 points ago

Not always. I remember there being impossible puzzles in the largest mode, which is like a weird, sneaky type of acne.

[–]LeonardoFibonacci 15 points16 points ago

I want to say that at least 40% of games that I play on expert come down to a 50/50 guess at some point.

[–]m42a 2 points3 points ago

You might like Mines Perfect (Linux version here).

[–]aspbergerinparadise 1 point2 points ago

they're not impossible. they just require some lucky guessing.

[–]recon455 0 points1 point ago

Well of course. But impossible to arrive at a concrete solution.

[–]whatwhywhy 0 points1 point ago

Shave normally avoid the acne then I manually puck out the hair around the acne - win

[–]RetroRocker 98 points99 points ago

Yes.... teenager.... :'(

[–]Zorg661 46 points47 points ago

Yeah, I'm 27 and wondering when my acne will clear up for good. Benzaclin the whole face once a day keeps it good for me but damn... time for this shit to go away.

[–]thatsnotminesir 5 points6 points ago

I'm 31 and still have the problem. The one thing thats really worked well for me is oral Anti-Bionics. Doxilcyclin or Amoxacillin. Both work for me, but its whatever yer doctor wants you to have.

All the prescription creames, over the counter stuff, proactiv, retin A, you name it. None of them fixed it. The oral anti-biotics are the only thing thats been efective for me.

Of course, if I stop taking them it flares back up. But its all thats done it.

[–]Fucha 11 points12 points ago

I was in the same boat as you but early 20's. I you live in a country with universal healthcare get accutane. It may be super expensive in the us (I have no idea tbh) but it really does work. And I've literally tried everything (99% of skin clearing products, antibiotics, natural antibiotics, exfoliation treatments, towel on pillow, exercising lots, eating right etc.) PM me if you have any questions.

[–]moonicipal 38 points39 points ago

Accutane? That shit's dangerous, man.

The sheer fact that you have to sign a waiver to have it dispensed, and the fact that the box is covered with warnings about liver disease and termination of pregnancy is enough to scare me away from that stuff for good.

That said, my brother used it... works.

[–]Cole7rain 12 points13 points ago

I had cystic acne from ages 16-20, I pretty much hated looking in the mirror and it made me depressed as fuck. Then I took Accutane for a MONTH and bam gone. I didn't even get so much as blackheads for a YEAR when it started to come back a little bit. Then I took a second months worth of it and ever since then it has never come back.

[–]Fucha 10 points11 points ago

Anecdotal experience here, but its working wonders for me (1 month in) where as everything else never did. I get monthly blood tests to check my liver functions/triglyceride levels and everything is a-ok.

I am a male so I can not comment on the pregnancy issue, but for sure it is a really powerful teratogen and it renders most oral contraceptives ineffective.

[–]SpiralSoul 3 points4 points ago

Accutane fixed my face. Shit's amazing, man. Only side effect for me was dry skin (had to carry around chapstick everywhere for a few months).

[–]Mr_Quagmire 6 points7 points ago

Accutane's the only thing that ever worked for me, and it worked really well. I did one treatment in high school and another in my late 20's.

The only immediate side effects I had was very dry skin, which was actually welcome since it's almost always oily.

Also, after both treatments I ended up with some fairly significant anxiety issues that lasted for more than a year, but I can't say for sure whether or not that it's directly related to taking Accutane.

[–]robotshoelaces 1 point2 points ago

Do you continue to have dry skin after treatment? I did one treatment back in high school and since my skin has been crazy dry and I'm now 29.

[–]Mr_Quagmire 4 points5 points ago

Nope. It was only dry during the actual treatment. It went back to normal almost immediately afterward.

[–]ninjaculation 1 point2 points ago

its worth it. SOOOOOO worth it. For those of us who suffered from cystic acne as teenagers it is SOOOO worth all the risk.

just drink a ton of water and pray for the best.

[–]thatsnotminesir 1 point2 points ago

I tried to get Accutane in my 20's. But it turns out I have a genetic liverdisorder called Gilbert's Syndrome. Its completely benign, doesn't hurt me or effect my life in any way. However, given Accutane's liver issues, doctors said no.

So I'm stuck with oral antibiotics until I finally grow out of this shit. 31 years and counting....

[–]wonderbread11 2 points3 points ago

I also have Gilbert's Syndrome and it wasn't a problem for me.

[–]adaminc 0 points1 point ago

I never signed a waiver...

[–]PancakesAreGone 0 points1 point ago

You forgot the fact you have to get your blood tested monthly before they renew your prescription, and that, most likely, your pores all over your body will dry up and depending on how long you've been using (Or similar acne drugs) you can cause permanent damage to your pores and have perpetually dry, painful, skin.

Fucking hands still bleed just from the winter weather and a healthy coating of hand cream...

[–]Velocicaptcha 4 points5 points ago

Cannot stress accutane enough, it is the only known CURE for acne. All other prescriptions and such are preventatives. I recently hopped off a 2year course of 40mg a day, lots of cons that probably tie even with the benefits so I don't mind.

[–]Fucha 3 points4 points ago

Was there a reason you were given 2 years? I am on the same dosage and I only have 3 months. How severe was your acne?

[–]Velocicaptcha 0 points1 point ago

My acne was not the worst though it was extreme enough to necessitate roaccutane, mainly it was extremely perseverant. Two years because it simply kept spreading until there was nowhere left to spread haha. I won't deny there was lots of side effects, some of which I presume will never leave but at the same time I see my siblings older than me in their mid 20's still struggling with scaring. Also I should say I'm Australian and the laws surrounding it are much looser.

[–]TheMeaning0fLife 3 points4 points ago

I'm seconding the acutane recommendation (based on my 0 personal experience... Though I do have an anecdote). Both of my parents had horrible acne (they still get occasional pimples even in their 50s) and acutane cleared them up.

Now both of my parents had acne that bad and I have their genetics, I have fairly bad acne, but I manage with 4 tetracycline pills a day + 2 different topical things. It's still annoying as hell.

[–]dlynch066 1 point2 points ago

tetracycline cleared me up for about 6 months. then my acne got the worst it ever was.

[–]Fucha 0 points1 point ago

I was in the same position several months ago, I hated tetra simply because you have to plan it around meals, and that leaves a very limited window for actually sitting down and eating (difficult for a 19 year old student with a job).

For my topical cream I used a cream which contained benzathol peroxide (benzacne) I bought it in Poland but they should have some local version of it.

[–]yonicay 3 points4 points ago

wait...Accutane is still on the market?

[–]Fucha 1 point2 points ago

Well yeah, in Canada at least.

[–]SkippingLeaf 3 points4 points ago

Roche discontinued Roaccutane, but generics are still going strong.

[–]NondairyDanzig 1 point2 points ago

I'm on Roche Roaccutane right now, got it last week from the NHS here in England.

[–]SkippingLeaf 1 point2 points ago

Oops sorry, just in America. From wiki: "In 2009, Roche decided to pull Accutane off the US market after juries had awarded millions of dollars in damages to former Accutane users over inflammatory bowel disease claims."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isotretinoin

[–]NondairyDanzig 0 points1 point ago

Haha no problem man, just letting you know it's still distributed in the UK! :D

[–]gazzank 0 points1 point ago

Did you have to go through a big process to get it? I live in the UK now and I'm getting more and more tempted.

[–]NondairyDanzig 1 point2 points ago

Not really, I've been getting referred back to my GP over the years and getting various creams and tablets that did nothing, but my spots got quite a bit worse over the last few months (I'm 19) so he finally sent me through to a dermatologist at the hospital. He put me on 20 mg of Roaccutane a day, and 10mg of a day Isotretinoin no problem. I'm on 10mg of a day Prednisolone too (some kind of steroid) for a couple of weeks to calm down the inflammation until the tablets start to work. The dermatologist recommended the Roaccutane straight away, I just had to read a leaflet first about the side affects and agree that I'm willing to risk it. Sorry for the slow reply, hope this helps! :D

[–]helloeleni 1 point2 points ago

Not sure where you're from but where I am in the US it's not available anymore because of all the gastrointestinal issues. I had an ex that took it as a teen and now he's in his 20s and dealing with Crohn's Disease because of it. That said, I don't know anyone who took it who's acne wasn't cleared up afterward.

[–]ilikefarting 1 point2 points ago

Universal health care doesn't cover prescription meds, not in Canada anyways, unless you're over 65.

[–]buzzkill_aldrin 1 point2 points ago

Accutane is no longer on the market in the United States after Roche was sued on claims that it caused IBD.

[–]DaBearsDaBears 0 points1 point ago

But there are generics.

[–]Duke_Of_Hippos 1 point2 points ago

Accutane made me terribly depressed when i took it four years ago, I would suggest it only in extreme cases like it sounds like the ZORG has

[–]Schott12521 3 points4 points ago

I can see how it would. But, I was depressed before the treatment, and didn't want to be social. Accutane cleared my shit up and made me happy. Sure I was a little hormonal, but that's expected of a teen. It honestly made me feel 10x better and gave me much more confidence.

[–]Fucha 2 points3 points ago

So far I have not experienced any depression/suicidal thoughts. Yeah my acne was really severe but it only really picked up after high-school when I was 18-19.

I was recommended an all-natural cream and exfoliant to control random zits, which it sort-of did, but this lead to a Proactive effect when I stopped using them.

My face became pitted and lumpy, redness everywhere. Serious confidence killer when you go out with friends and you're the only one with acne.

[–]gottahavemorecowbell 0 points1 point ago

How long do its effects last after you stop taking it? I'm not sure that I can take it (due to one of the side effects being more likely to occur for me than the general population), but I'd like to find out if this would somewhat viable. I tried taking tetracycline, which worked...but i break out in hives. Prednisone works too, but that's way too temporary of a solution, as the acne returns a couple of days after I stop the treatment. (I use prednisone when I have a severe allergic reaction to foods).

[–]Fucha 1 point2 points ago

It has an 80% chance of no relapse, and close to 20% of people that relapse get it cured completely after a second course.

In terms of side-effects I have not experienced any, but according to the pamphlet you should not give blood or get impregnated until 30 days after your last dose. I'm assuming that when the medication leaves your body so would all of the side effects you are experiencing?

I'm not a medical professional though, so I'd reccomend googling around a bit.

[–]gottahavemorecowbell 1 point2 points ago

Thanks! I'll talk to a doctor about it.

[–]Fucha 0 points1 point ago

Good luck! (awesome username by the way!)

[–]Apostolate 1 point2 points ago

Can't you just have someone flay your back, or will it grow back with the new skin layer?

Not really a serious recommendation if you had to ask, but I'm curious.

[–]pdq 1 point2 points ago

Buy Vitamin A or Beta Carotene pills.

[–]travis_of_the_cosmos 1 point2 points ago

Put a fresh towel over your pillow each night before you go to sleep.

[–]artard 1 point2 points ago

Apparently no one else has been around Reddit long enough to get the reference.

[–]unclejones666 0 points1 point ago

If you aren't already, try drinking a ridiculous amount of water. Fish oil is also great for your skin/inflammation. They make some that you won't taste when you burp.

[–]iamcrossfit 0 points1 point ago

22 almost 23 and still have issues. had the good ol cystic stuff from 18-21 but its getting better now. the best thing ive found is high dose Fish Oil and cutting out grain and dairy from my diet... tried everything BUT Accutane and the above is the only thing that has really really worked

[–]VestaDear 0 points1 point ago

This might be a superstitious thing, but my senior year of high school I realized that I didn't eat any foods with vitamin E in it ever. I started taking a supplement with breakfast and I had 3 zits that entire school year.

[–]Purpletech -1 points0 points ago

Try adjusting your diet. Remove processed foods, soda, sugary crap etc. It really helps when you put good stuff in your body.

[–]dorekk 5 points6 points ago

Acne isn't dietary. I don't eat any processed foods or soda and I get the occasional zit (nowhere near as bad as it used to be in high school, and I've found that the more regularly I shave, the better my skin is).

[–]M_daily 2 points3 points ago

To a certain extent, it is dietary. You say your diet is good, but your skin may just be a little bit extra oily (among other things) which might explain your occasional breakout. For someone who doesn't have a diet as disciplined as yours though, I think it'll become a factor.

[–]Purpletech 0 points1 point ago

I know that science has proven that acne isn't related from diet, but I've seen both myself, sister and friends remove certain foods from their diets and their acne all but disappears.

[–]AlfCatEater 4 points5 points ago

I never tried any prescription medicine. I tried pro-active for 2 months but didn't see any results. Then I came across Acne.org off some exercising blog roughly 7 years ago. I'm not affiliated with that site whatsoever but the technique that guy DAN shows on the site worked wonders for me. In short, his research claimed that Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% worked just as effectively as 10% (maximum strength that can legally be sold OTC in the US). Wash your face, wait 10 minutes. Apply a generous amount of 2.5%, wait 10 minutes, apply moisturizer and don't do anything to irritate your skin (like scratch yourself or put your hands on your face). He shows videos on how to do this. Every time I feel breakouts coming, I apply the cream and in about 2 days, I'm generally clear again. It wont get rid of your acne forever, but it does work when used consistently.

[–]korri 2 points3 points ago

I know this is talking about guys shaving and all, but if you're female, birth control works wonders. I had pretty bad acne, went to a dermatologist, used topical stuff that dried the shit out of my face, tried oral antibiotics that did nothing. Then I got put on birth control and my face seriously cleared up super fast. A lot of times acne can be hormonal, and when I got diagnosed with PCOS, getting my hormones and everything in check seriously cleared up my face.

[–]Amicar 1 point2 points ago

Currently on Accutane: Day 20

Uhm, well... let's put it this way. The shit can suck lol. My skin is drier than than a bucket of sand and my lips are CRUSTEH. I'm an extremely happy person and have felt no sign of depression yet, though my back hurts a tad when I lay down. If you guys like, I can link you to my Tumblr blog specifically for my Accutane experience.

[–]MandatoryGrape 0 points1 point ago

For your dry skin get a paraffin cream, works very well and use some stuff for your lips as well. Its totally manageable, you will need to stick at it for months to see good results.

[–]PancakesAreGone 0 points1 point ago

What MandatoryGrape said, also use a mosturizing bath soap + shampoo, and lots of hand cream. Also, you think it's bad now? Hope you don't get perma-dry where even off the medication your hands stay/lips/etc stay dangerously dry.

[–]DaBearsDaBears 0 points1 point ago

I could barely run from the back pain from accutane. I'm on my last month (month 6 for me) at 100 mg, so my body has adjusted. Those side effects aren't fun, but I don't have any acne anymore!

[–]symphony_41_mozart 10 points11 points ago

Hence all the hilarious facial hair in high school.

[–]benjo1989 31 points32 points ago

Pro tip: Don't wet shave, get some hair clippers and just rock the stubble. Had bad acne since I was 16 and not using a razer cleared it up.

[–]anish714 19 points20 points ago

I've found razors helped me. It helped clean out the oil and grease which reduced acne.

[–]TheLondonPidgeon 1 point2 points ago

Well said. I didn't have acne, but every time I tried razors or electric shavers I came out in horrible rashes. Haven't shaved my facial hair with anything other that clippers for about 12 years. Unless you work somewhere really arsey, you can rock this. If you are going for a serious office career just make sure you've worked out some sort of comfortable facial hair style by the time you get there. can't be argued if you don't look too scruffy. Embrace the beard OP it is loved by more than you'd think.

[–]Shimokurasaka 0 points1 point ago

If that was the case, it sounds like irritation may have been a factor. Consider using safety razors in the future if you are still avoiding shaving because of this.

[–]markycapone 16 points17 points ago

am I the only one that just shaved right over them.

[–]AnotherFuckingMoron 3 points4 points ago

you are not. Hurt like hell, but I was just too lazy to care

[–]dancinghost 5 points6 points ago

[–]rodsaysgo 1 point2 points ago

i know right

[–]MindintoMatter 4 points5 points ago

This actually made me cringe.

[–]MoonDaddy 5 points6 points ago

Sanitize your razor with rubbing alcohol EVERY TIME before you shave with it.

[–]khdutton 24 points25 points ago

I feel ya, bro. I've got zits all over my balls, too.

[–]Literally_Ron_Paul 51 points52 points ago

I have always had this and never knew what it was, thank you

[–]Iysif 19 points20 points ago

Whoa me too I thought everyone did. I always assumed it was where hairs were starting to grow.

[–]sodawoski 7 points8 points ago

Yeah... I think this person just dropped some knowledge on a lot of our asses... I assumed everyone had these. Damn, oh well, mine arent too noticeable anyway so im not concerned.

[–]moltencheese 1 point2 points ago

YOU'RE WELCOME

[–]jappleseed12 0 points1 point ago

I always thought it was from hair too. Now I'm going to go stare at my testicles for a while and ponder my ball zits.

[–]ridik_ulass 12 points13 points ago

I know that feel bro.

/me hugs

[–]Fucha 1 point2 points ago

Mine have actually started disappearing now that I've been on accutane for a month.

[–]ovard 3 points4 points ago

This Monday my doctor called me and told me that after 5 years of fighting for it, I'm getting Accutane at the end of this week.

Shit like this won't ever have to ruin my days from now on, hopefully. Just thinking about it makes me happy!

[–]MandatoryGrape 1 point2 points ago

5 years? were you on antibiotics before? I came off 2 different antibiotics after 8 months and straight onto Accutane, works so much better.

[–]ovard 1 point2 points ago

I haven't gotten anything prior to this :( All I've been hearing over these years are "But you don't have acne!", "Oh you're only 20, it's gonna pass." etc. The latter one is especially upsetting since they let 4 years pass so I now have scarring all over my face. With any luck this will actually work and I'll be able to have a normal life, glad to hear it worked for you :D

I started reading a lot about it and it seems as if its not all that good. How were your results with scarring? I'm also very concerned about my nose, I can almost hide grass seeds in some of my pores.

[–]MandatoryGrape 0 points1 point ago

I have only been on Accutane for 5 months and still a teenager, so not much scaring as of yet. But my dermatologist did mention scaring reversal but that might only be at my stage of the treatment.

[–]Aj45 7 points8 points ago

So. Many. Pieces. Of toilet paper.

[–]slacksalot 21 points22 points ago

That's what styptic pens are for. They're only $1 at Walmart and clots the bleeding almost instantly. I always make sure to have one ready in case of nicks or cuts.

[–]Aj45 4 points5 points ago

This is one of the rare occasions that somebody replies to me with useful information. I will definitely look into this. Much appreciated.

[–]tehmikey 6 points7 points ago

Good thing it is just intermediate. It would suck if it was set to expert.

[–]Apostolate 0 points1 point ago

I don't think I can beat minesweeper either way. I'd probably be horrible at shaving with acne.

[–]tomjenks1 2 points3 points ago

just trim instead. helps with the acne

[–]M0b1u5 2 points3 points ago

Bad analogy.

Because you can see where you're going to cut yourself well ahead of time.

But I need to reassure you that the only thing holding you back is A COMPLETE, UTTER AND TOTAL LACK OF SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE TO SHAVE PROPERLY.

Firstly, do NOT go down the electric shave route. This will lead to many in-grown hairs, and doesn't do anything to help your acne.

It's actually highly unlikely you have "acne". This is a medical term, and sufferers are treated using some very powerful drugs. It's far more likely what you have is "plenty of pimples and blackheads" which is what 90% of teenage boys suffer from.

Here's a regime that will help you shave cleanly, and without cutting yourself too badly.

First is the hardware: I use Gillette Fusion razors, but they are no good for you - you will fuck yourself up with one of these. Go out and get yourself a Schick 4 bladed razor with the wire wrapped around the blades. These wires go a very long way towards preventing you cutting yourself. (They are designed for teenagers!) Once you've mastered this blade, and gotten some skills on, then you can migrate to a Fusion 5-bladed razor.

Secondly - preparation.

Preparation is the most important part of any shaving ritual. Remember that even that downy shit you take strange pride in, is actually as tough as copper of the same diameter!

It's probably a good idea to shave in the shower, so get yourself a magnifying shaving mirror.

Make sure shaving is the last thing you do in the shower. Make sure you get your face wet first thing, and keep wetting your face throughout the showering process.

Wash your face thoroughly - TWICE. This is key. Don't just do it once, do it FUCKING TWICE. Use whatever is recommended; I just use soap - but I have a post shaving ritual which means it doesn't matter what I wash with.

Simply washing so thoroughly is going to be great for your pimples and blackheads - plus the shaving action is exfoliating every day - so you should notice a marked improvement in your skin in just a few weeks.

Now- we finally get down to the actual shaving process: Store the head of your razor in Olive Oil. This stops the blades getting blunt quickly. About 80% of blade dulling is due to oxidisation of the blades when it dires out after use. Blades will last 3-5 times as long if stored in olive oil between shaves.

Apply a thin layer of shaving cream, or foam. I prefer cream, and foam is fucking expensive, and in my experience is an inferior product.

Begin shaving carefully.

AS WITH ALL SHARP TOOLS, LET THE TOOL DO THE WORK!

DO NOT push the blade against your face, simply place it on the surface and pull gently across the skin. Initially (at least) you should NEVER shave against the grain of your hair growth - not until you become more talented and your skin adjusts to shaving. And it will adjust, believe me.

DO NOT TRY FOR THE PERFECT SHAVE!

DO NOT SHAVE OVER AND OVER THE SAME PLACE!

This is very important. Until you are very skilled, trying for the perfect shave is going to fuck you five ways from sunday.

Make sure you keep rinsing the blade to keep it clear.

Once you have finished shaving, put the razor in the oil, and dry yourself. Now, splash the coldest water you can handle onto your face to close up the pores on the skin.

Use a STYPTIC PENCIL to stop any bleeds from cuts. They sting a bit, but you won't need it often.

Once your face is dry, apply a WATER-BASED after shave balm. Do not, under any circumstances place any oil-based products on your skin.

I use a Clarins Aftershave balm, and it is very good. DO NOT MISS THIS VITAL STEP.

Finally, DO NOT PUT AFTERSHAVE ON YOUR FACE.

If you want to smell nice for the ladies, put the aftershave at the base of your neck and the top of your chest.

If you really want to beat the blackheads and pimples, then have another shower at night, and wash your face twice then too.

Within 6 weeks your face will be looking much better, you won't be cutting yourself often, and you will feel good!

who else tried to press it?

[–]ThatGuyRememberMe 1 point2 points ago

I was waiting for it to move.

[–]mator93 1 point2 points ago

[–]anonymousex 1 point2 points ago

When I finish shaving, I also put on a pair of sunglasses and smile

[–]Tannerflake 1 point2 points ago

I am 14 and am currently taking 4 pills of Erythromycin a day. I have previously tried tetracycline (nothing there) and ampicillin (pretty sure that made it worse). Erythromycin has worked effectively and although I still have some acne, it has cleared it up a ton.

[–]kerokerokeropi 1 point2 points ago

Question about acne. I'm in late 20's and still get pimples. I don't have a shit ton of them, but i tend to have 1-4 fairly large sized ones at any given time on my face. I'm not familiar with the terminology for acne, but these are all the kind that end up as whiteheads, that you can pop. They don't result in "pizza" face like some teenagers I see, where they have entire patches of skin covered in reddish spots. But it's still annoying as hell to be getting these as an adult. I see some people with totally perfect skin and I wonder what I can do to have it too. I'm a male if that makes any difference. I wash my face at night and sometimes use benzoil peroxide cream on my face at night. That helps a little but I hate putting it on every night and it doesn't get rid of it completely. Most of thet ime the pimples are on my cheeks, or on my jawline, or between my mouth and nose.

Will accutane help?

[–]kerokerokeropi 0 points1 point ago

How long did you take it for?

[–]MandatoryGrape 0 points1 point ago

Go to your gp and get some antibiotics for it, worked for me but i built a resistance to them and they have little/none side effects.

[–]Shiny_metal_ass 0 points1 point ago

One easy thing I started doing that helped me was washing my face throughout the day when I would go to the bathroom. It hasn't completely gotten rid of my acne, but I've noticed an improvement.

[–]WBudWhite 1 point2 points ago

Beard it. two birds, one stone.

[–]Me4Prez 1 point2 points ago

I feel dumb: I thought I could play it :(

[–]PvtDexterGrif 1 point2 points ago

Invest in an electric razor, that's how I got through grade 7-9

[–]nomdeanon 1 point2 points ago

I didn't read the "as" in the title: "What its like shaving a teenager with acne" I expected a gore story from a barber...

[–]a19grey 1 point2 points ago

This is reddit, we've all been there man. If you live in a sunny climate the best way to get rid of that acne is to get 15-20min of direct sunshine a couple of times a week. The optical-infrared wavelengths of sunlight penerate and heat up the layer of skin just below the surface which kills bacteria. There's a lot of good scientific evidence for this stuff, and personally, I can attest that it's extremely effective.

[–]Le_Jonny_41293 1 point2 points ago

So you are telling me that if you accidentally cut one all the others immediately pop as well all over your face?

[–]Patrickfoster 1 point2 points ago

I am 14 have mild acne on the lower half of my face, and shaved for the first time today. I cut myself on a spot only once.

[–]CokeCanNinja 1 point2 points ago

Cut it off. It hurts, but I never get acne from doing this.

[–]scdozer435 1 point2 points ago

I shaved on my prom night, and cut myself. It literally bled the whole freaking night, and I had to wear a band-aid all night. Kisses were not part of my prom experience.

[–]xKazimirx 1 point2 points ago

So, impossible to mess up? Get it, since the first time you click is never a mine.

[–]crunch816 1 point2 points ago

Engage beard mode

[–]jappleseed12 1 point2 points ago

It's especially hard shaving off my mustache if I have a blemish there. It's impossible to avoid. I know what you're going through.

[–]countlazypenis 1 point2 points ago

Pfft shaving is for losers, real men use veet hair removal! It's also pretty good on your pubes.

[–]SkateboardG 1 point2 points ago

Aftershave is your friend. Also, wash your damn face.

[–]GeneralWarts 2 points3 points ago

As a past teenager with a lot of acne I'll admit it was probably the biggest factor of my keeping a no mustache goatee as soon as I could in middleschool. Hides the acne, and shaving was always troublesome.

[–]enzymhelicase 11 points12 points ago

goatee in middleschool? Im in college and still no facial hair

[–]GeneralWarts 2 points3 points ago

I was lucky that my facial hair grew in a little earlier. Granted it wasn't that good of a goatee, it was only thickest to the left and right of my chin. It wasn't until I was 23ish that I finally grew the connection on the sides between the mustache and beard.

[–]tattlerat 2 points3 points ago

I'm frustrated with my beardage, it grows in thick in the neck, cheeks, sideburns, and chin. No mustache. And really, the mustache is the icing on the cake.

[–]Le_RushEnt 1 point2 points ago

I won a game of minesweeper once. It was the greatest thing I've ever done.

[–]tpman24 2 points3 points ago

How about shaving around a mole?

[–]Apostolate 1 point2 points ago

Just shave the mole off.

insanitywolf.jpg

[–]BennyHarassi 1 point2 points ago

it grows back...trust me

[–]Apostolate 4 points5 points ago

So does the hair, that's what shaving is for!

[–]robotshoelaces 0 points1 point ago

I accidentally did that once. At least it's gone now.

[–]BoColdBlooded 1 point2 points ago

Minesweeper would be more fun if there were nasty zits instead of mines.

[–]Victory33 0 points1 point ago

I got over that by shaving in the shower....never really cut myself and once you figure out how to it, every other way sucks. More time in the shower is always a side bonus.

[–]carpescientia 0 points1 point ago

Ditto with mosquito bites. Fuck Florida.

[–]tha_dood 0 points1 point ago

electric shaver.... problem?

[–]Deathmonger96 0 points1 point ago

Just take some Oratane, and BAM

[–]CoyoteStark 0 points1 point ago

Yes...teenager...

[–]Justkidding94 0 points1 point ago

I feel as though I'm the only person that tried to play it...

[–]cycloboss 0 points1 point ago

At least the first stroke is never a zit

[–]onlinegamer1266 0 points1 point ago

I was staring at it for like 3 minutes -.-

[–]CaptainCocq 0 points1 point ago

Pro tip: if you get an cotton all and dab some rubbing alchohol on it and wipe around your face, it clears up razor burn and has also cleared up my acne.

[–]Merendino 0 points1 point ago

Imgur is down at the moment, but somehow I just have a feeling its a picture of Daniel Day Lewis saying "there will be blood."

[–]GJOP 0 points1 point ago

I got "Down for maintenance", and in a way that's exactly what it's like shaving as a teenager.

[–]ab103630 0 points1 point ago

You don't know where your own zits are?

[–]slavetothesystem 0 points1 point ago

Clearasil pads and cream, man...trust me.

[–]Sweysi 0 points1 point ago

I have a very light case of eczema and I've been trying benzoyl peroxide but nothing has happened to my severe acne.Im 16 years old acnes bren hurting my self esteem for the last 2 years.Wondering if accutane would be OK I'd I have eczema if it would make my skin really dry?Might ask my doctor to prescribe it

[–]Gonzobot 0 points1 point ago

If you get a non bullshit razor made of hopefully sharpened bollocks, you won't have such a bad time. Mach3 original style works perfect for me, no matter what I'm shaving.

[–]glendablvd 0 points1 point ago

give up on the razor. waterproof norelco. not as close, but even as a thirty something it's easy and not as harsh. i've also noticed my skin is much more oily a few hours after shaving with a razor as opposed to the norelco and as a teen you don't want to encourage oily...

[–]colefly 0 points1 point ago

i tried to play it... twice

[–]Trashcanman33 0 points1 point ago

I have a huge pointy Adam's apple, my chance of cutting myself is about 25% everyday, and it always scares the heck out of me, such a scary place to cut yourself over and over.

[–]darknod 0 points1 point ago

click :O release mouse :(

[–]NorMel1 0 points1 point ago

*click *click The game doesn't seam to be working.

[–]iLiketrains131 0 points1 point ago

I just go over the pimples like a man.

[–]reidhasguitar 0 points1 point ago

I count myself lucky that I at least can grow hair on all of my face, and not just my upper lip, so I can forgo shaving for a while and not looking like a raging faggot.

[–]ccm596 0 points1 point ago

Except you click like, four at a time, and there have to atleast be two or three clicks touching one another

[–]callmeRichard 0 points1 point ago

Put a fresh towel (or pillowcase) on your pillow EVERY night. Your acne will reduced significantly if not gone within a couple weeks. Your face is sleeping on it's own nasty, bacteria ridden oils every night.

[–]MrClownyBubbles[S] 0 points1 point ago

I have alot of anxiety which causes stress which causes oily skin which causes more anxiety, so this doesn't help. I actually clean my face 3-4 times a day and that cuts it down quite a bit. That and bad acne runs on my dads side

[–]redpoint13 0 points1 point ago

I stopped getting acne when I stopped washing my face with soap entirely. The only time any type of soap touches my face is when shaving, the rest of the time it's only water.

[–]MrClownyBubbles[S] 4 points5 points ago

See that's why my best friend did, he gave up and stopped breaking out, if I do it I get goddamn volcanoes

[–]HerDarkMaterials 3 points4 points ago

Okay, speaking from over a decade of trial and error here. Wash your face morning and night with something mild like Cetaphil. Gently pat face with a towel, then air dry for 5 to 10 minutes. Then apply Benzaclin or Duac (have your doctor write you a prescription). Not too much, just enough to coat the skin. Wait 5 to 10 minutes, then apply moisturizer, something like Aveeno Daily Radiance with SPF 15. Do not skip the moisturizer!

I know it sounds like a lot, but this is literally the only thing that worked for my sister and I, who both had terrible acne into our 20s. Going on over three years of drastically improved skin! PM me if you want to discuss more. Acne can really mess you up, so best of luck to you!

[–]MrClownyBubbles[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks!

[–]redpoint13 2 points3 points ago

You will for a couple weeks... just keep going...

[–]dorekk 0 points1 point ago

I, too, don't use soap on my face (except when shaving). Works pretty great!

[–]Ausrufepunkt -1 points0 points ago

Check out /r/wicked_edge if you want to improve your shaving.
You don't necessarily need a double or single edge razor, the pre-shaving preparation is important too.

[–]anonymousHacker 2 points3 points ago

Yup it happens every time, if it's about shaving there is always a link to r/wicked_edge

[–]Bradley_Manning 1 point2 points ago

nothing but a bunch of grown men getting erections over pictures of shaving cream and badger brushes...

[–]Canoe513 0 points1 point ago

How did this make the front page??

[–]MrClownyBubbles[S] 1 point2 points ago

I wonder this too

[–]tomtom547 0 points1 point ago

i have power acne. i cut em off and immediately apply rubbing alcohol. worst pain of my life but i my acne clears up 100% the next for about 3 hours.

[–]dorekk 0 points1 point ago

This is...insanely bad for you.

[–]tomtom547 0 points1 point ago

in what way?

[–]unclejones666 1 point2 points ago

scarring, man.

[–]tomtom547 0 points1 point ago

shit...

[–]espen_f 0 points1 point ago

i clicked ><

[–]Dr_Bananas 0 points1 point ago

I know your pain lad

[–]thatsnotminesir 0 points1 point ago

Consider yourself lucky being a teenager with Acne. I'm fuckin over 30 years old, and if I don't take antibiotics regularly I still break out like a kid. The antibiotics takes care of the problem, but its still sucks I got the genetic skin jokers card.

[–]urinsan3 0 points1 point ago

Go to your dermatologist and have them prescribe an anti-biotic for it; there's a few that you can try. I used one up until a month or so ago, until my dermatologist weened me off it, and now I'm still clear. About once a week I use a benzyl peroxide wash just to ensure it.

[–]Rpg_gamer_ 0 points1 point ago
