Yea, whenever I see people all geared up for show I call them "peacocks". I use it as a verb when I see someone trying to get girls with their style. "Look at all this peacockin' going on."

Yeah, but pretty much all of the sounds in David's Documentaries are faked (unless you really believe that beetles munch on their food and sound like Homer Simpson eating donuts).

My mum knows a guy who works doing that sort of sound. Its not so much as the sound is faked, as its done separately then dubbed in. Like he leaves microphones in dead carcasses and stuff.

As fishfinger said the sounds arent fake, its just not possible most of the time to capture sound from a distance. Particularly in planet earth you would under estimate the amount of footage that is shot from helicopter, and given that helicopters are loud as fuck you film from a distance, maybe 100m away using a large lense mounted to bottom of the helicopter known as a heli-gimble. In some of these scenes you want to appear as close to the animals as possible so sounds are dubbed over normally by a foley artist who specialises in recreating the natural sounds which are as close to the actual sound as is possible. If you have some way if improving on that then please let me know

What's your problem? The special features on David's documentaries admits that the sounds are faked and shows how they fake them. I am a big David Attenborough and I'm not saying it's a bad thing. They would be less interesting without the fake sounds added.

Quoting definitions doesn't change the point that the words implication isn't the same as it's face value. You could have said that the sounds were added and not recorded which conveys the same information without implying deceit

Firstly please don't try to educate me on a subject matter which I know better than you. Secondly it's not forgery because it's not pretending to be the 'real' sounds and as you pointed out earlier it's often emphasised that the sounds are dubbed on .

I'm not going to censor the truth just because of how you personally feel about certain words.

My favorite bird of paradise is the little organizing bird who cleans up an area and decorates it. He had the get the twig just at the perfect angle before being happy with his work. If I was a lady bird, that would impress me.
