              My friend, I assure you that you are not alone. I remember two things about the ending of that movie. The first was crying my first set of manly tears. The second was my balls dropping, because that was my passage into manhood. I tell people all the time that T2 is like finding that one friend when you are alone and scared, who teaches you how to be a man and shows you that you are not alone. Through hard and happy times, you grow and learn, and he is there every step of the way with guidance and support. Then, such is the way of life, he has to leave you, but it's ok, because you are infinitely better for having known him. As you see him leave for the last time, a tear drops your eye as you see

              For me it's always been the scene of the burning playground in Sarah Connor's dream that stuck with me. And then she wakes up and realizes she cut "No Fate" in the picnic table with her knife. There are so many things about that movie that take it beyond the sci-fi action genre and make it one of the greatest movies of the 20th century.

              But I think T3 was necessary. Yes, it feels like a shitty parody, but I think it rounds things out. If T1 was about being born, and T2 was about growing up, then T3 was about being an adult and realizing that you're on your own. In T2 it's always emphasized how the Terminator is nothing more than a robot, and any feelings the characters have for him are their own sentimentality. But the final scene kind of makes that ambiguous and makes us wonder if maybe the robot somehow "grew beyond" his nature.

              When the Terminator in T3 says "That was a different unit", that really drives home how it was all just a mirage, that of course he's just a robot, and nothing ever could have changed.

              Your parents try to prepare you for a life of your own, where you get a job, get married, repeat their pointless, mediocre lives. But when you're a teenager, you think you can save the word. Eventually you realize that all you might perhaps be able to accomplish is saving yourself for long enough to fight a battle you'll never win.

              The scene where they're in the bunker and it dawns on them what the Terminator's orders really were, we feel angry at being betrayed, that he set up Connor for perhaps less than he could have been, and at the same time we have to feel happy that Connor is alive at all and can fight the battle that he was meant to fight all along.

                      When I first saw this scene I was 12 and I cried and was quite sad to know that the terminator was gone and the movie would soon be over. My mom tried to reassure me that there would be another Terminator film to which I replied, "No there won't! It wouldn't make any sense!"

                      Unfortunately Hollywood disagreed and we were introduced to the terminator's new badass line... "Talk to the hand."

                      Then in Terminator 3: "regardless of what you do, fate will catch up with you and that future you didn't want to happen will still happen. suck it."

                      There was actually an alternate ending, showing Sarah as an old lady in the future (2027), talking about how everything turned out to be great. Using that ending would definitely end the franchise there, though - so they went with something more open and indefinite.

                      I actually like the ending of the movie, I think it's quite deep and makes you think and wonder. I just don't like the fact that they decided to make a sequel.
