Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

Is your post not showing up? Do not delete it. Wait 5 minutes to give AutoModerator a chance to look at it; it approves most submissions automatically. If it hasn't shown up after more than 5 minutes, simply message the moderators and ask us to let it through.

Sony had a good E3

Perhaps single handedly the most atrocious point delivered by the increasingly laughable /r/Gaming. Sony had a disastrous E3. I like how every single person on Reddit completely ignored that Sony released a brand new handheld this year, a handheld which is performing absolutely abysmally in every single international territory including Japan. Vita owners got absolutely screwed over, few first party games, virtually zero third parties on board. It was a complete and utter shambles.

B-b-but The Last of Us! Fuck off, the game's an Uncharted clone. /r/ Gaming is so blind in its clamouring for new IP's that they completely cannot tell when they're being served a game which is practically the same game with new skins. Watch_Dogs is how to do a new IP, not 'The Last of Us'. Even Halo 4 looked vastly more fresh considering it's an existing IP, but I forgot that the butthurt PC gamers of this subreddit hate Halo and Ubisoft.

On the atmospheric side of things I was expecting a title to deliver much more slow paced sequences with a really careful approach to combat, with most of it being small scale, if not flat put avoided. Instead we got straight up Fight Club style action. Which really doesn't make sense given that it's a game starring one Man and his daughter. The way he was just shrugging off revolver bullets and taking on all of those enemies broke the immersion a lot for me. With Uncharted I could deal with it given the style of game it is, with this though? Not really...

There also seemed to be an unrealistic disconnect between the protagonist and the girl, why wasn't he looking out for his daughter when she was climbing these huge structures? It just doesn't seem quite like the post apocalyptic survival game I was expecting.

In other news? An absolutely shameful Smash Brothers rip off, the doomed to fail wonderbook and a completely boring plethora of already seen third party trailers and montages. You people are dumb

Gamers only need buttons

Yeah...no. Gaming will always need innovation within its control schemes. The Nintendo DS is a prime example alone of how gaming can be immensely improved with innovation. So unless you want the gaming industry to die, then stop upvoting this shit.

Oh no, they have entertainment and general media demonstrations in their conferences. The new target demographic is the mass market, guys!

And why shouldn't it be?

I think you people overestimate how important the hardcore really are these days. All companies from here on out are going to try and do their best in satisfying as many people as they can.

Microsoft where are da gaems?

This one bugs me. I'll assume that people here are ignoring EA and going all out on in criticising Microsoft in this regard...pretty much because they're stupid.

Microsoft actually showed quite a few games. They showed an absolute shit tonne of new XBLA titles, and their showings for Halo and Forza are amongst the best titles shown at E3 so far, full stop.

Microsoft's 'terrible' new strategy is the reason they're rapidly becoming market leaders. 360 is the best selling system worldwide right now. They have /no/ reason to bring new IP's out for it because judging by their 5-10 or so new studios that they've opened in the few years, they're saving an absolute /plethora/ of content for the Next Box. I can almost guarantee that they will destroy E3 next year in a way that'll shut this subreddit up entirely.

And yet, what did EA show? No Mirror's Edge 2. Crysis 3 looked dreadful, MoH looked dreadful. On top of that we saw two expansion packs for ToR and BF3 (both already terrible games by the way) and simply another Madden and Fifa.

Whilst I accept that Microsoft had a pretty bad games showing, at least Halo 4 and Forza are up there in terms of being the best displayed games in the show. They also announced a shit tonne of XBLA titles as well. Anyone who dismisses XBLA is an absolute hypocrite. Games like Limbo, Braid and Bastion are all Microsoft invested titles which have been extremely popular with this subreddit in the past.

Rare are dead, guys!

Yeah...Rare's best ever game is sitting on the Xbox 360 right now. It's called 'Viva Pinata'. If you haven't played it, then you probably should. If you disagree, you're looking at the N64 games with Rose tinted glasses.

As mentioned above, Rare are one of Microsofts studios currently developing a new title for the next xbox. So maybe it'd be rational to judge the state of the company based on that...or god forbid just do some research yourself.

Nintendo are doomed

Nintendo's conference was disappointing. However they've openly admitted that they're only showing launch window content and by the way, it's an incredible launch window. Pikmin 3, Scribblenauts, Assassins Creed 3, Lego City Stories, ZombiU.

It's pretty clear that they're withholding first party content to give the third parties some breathing space.

On the other hand, 3DS continues to look fantastic and they've got a conference on later specifically focusing on new content for it.

Watch_Dogs looks amazing - Yes it does, however I'm not entirely convinced it's a current gen title. Also expect the PC version to have a 6 month - 1 year delay like all Ubisoft titles.

My conclusion is that so far, these conferences have been disappointing. However god DAMN is there so much ignorance on this subreddit. It's becoming very clear why /r/ Gaming is widely regarded to be one of the ignorant gaming communities in the industry, it's also further evidence that console gamers (such as myself) completely outclass PC gamers in terms of industry knowledge

You people are a disgrace to the gaming industry, if not the entire species, sort it out guys.

Hes being sarcastic right? This is hilarious.

[–]Fuelogy[!] 1 point2 points ago

This is the second time ive seen this rant. Sadly, It probably won't stay hilarious.

[–]stunts002 0 points1 point ago

This was a long winded post so, in summary

[–]Heelincal 0 points1 point ago

You made so many great points, too bad you were so hostile.

[–]DementedHeadcrab 0 points1 point ago

[–]LightningGeek -3 points-2 points ago

Upvote, although I disagree with you on a couple of points.

Personally, BF3 for me is a great game and one that I've enjoyed immensely. Still undecided about the premium dlc though.

Also Donkey Kong Country is the greatest Rare game of all, anyone saying different is delusional.

[–]DocSilverPen -1 points0 points ago

Im not usually one to say this kind of thing, but this man is one of the most unattractive people to date. I cringe every time he walks and talks. Uhg.

[–]Wargall 0 points1 point ago

You do NOT talk shit about Reggie

[–]DocSilverPen 0 points1 point ago

I'm sorry but he's kinda funky. Don't get me wrong. He's kinda cool for the whole CEO of Nintendo of America I suppose.

[–]c4ptainmorgan -2 points-1 points ago

I still have no idea who this guy is.

[–]nodefect 3 points4 points ago

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America.

[–]tidux -1 points0 points ago

Reggie in a Metroid game? That could be cool.

[–]GamerBum -5 points-4 points ago

I LOL'ed so fucking hard.
