I always feel much more anxiety when leaving a voicemail than when simply talking on the phone.

[–]MNREDR 7 points8 points ago

Yeah, me too. When I leave a voicemail it goes

"Uh.. Hi, It's MNREDR. Uh.. I just wanted to tell you that.. call me whenever you're available.. I mean when you have the time.. as soon as possible. Whenever you can. Bye!"

And then, if it's someone I don't know/doesn't know me: "..Uh.. Hey it's MNREDR again. Forgot to give you my number. It's 555-1201, wait, no, I mean 2. 2202-- 1202! I meant 1202. Not 1201.. and not 2202. 1-2-0-2.

Uh, yeah. Bye!"

And then you feel like an idiot for the rest of the day.

My hero.

At least you know enough people that you call someone every day.

[–]Mathlete86[S] 2 points3 points ago

I wish. It's more because of work. I have to check up on people daily sometimes lol.

Yeah I like to call people when I know they won't be there. Then I never answer my phone. It's amazing I haven't been fired yet.

[–]DutchessPDX 1 point2 points ago

That's why you have texts.

[–]Mathlete86[S] 3 points4 points ago

Texting is definitely my preferred method of communication.

What if the person you're calling is the awkward one, and you'd prefer to avoid them?

[–]Mathlete86[S] 0 points1 point ago

I always hope to avoid them lol.

You and I are kindred spirits.

[–]TonesOfHome 0 points1 point ago

Pretty much every call I make at work. When someone answers, I have nothing prepared to say.

[–]Mathlete86[S] 1 point2 points ago

Yeah. They pick up and I'm like... Um... And then I talk after the shock of human interaction subsides.

[–]kyle1qaz7ujm 0 points1 point ago

Isn't there a way to leave a voice mail at a number without actually calling it?

[–]itchd -1 points0 points ago

Every single time I have to make a call at work...

[–]anarkhist -1 points0 points ago

Actually, I prefer hanging up and texting instead of leaving a voicemail. And right now, it seems I'm trying to be a bigger SAP then you.

[–]kingdavecako -1 points0 points ago

On T-Mobile you can leave a voicemail for someone else by calling your own voicemail. One of the prompts (number 2, I think) allows you to enter someone else's number. Not sure about AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint.

heh, im the girl on the other line who picks it up even though i was told they would leave a voicemail.
