But, your sides are exposed and there's no bloodshield.

Throw a shark cage over that and you're solid.

[–]willy-shorts 4 points5 points ago

Yep, that wouldn't work.

[–]Leafygreeno 1 point2 points ago

Or hope that they're shuffling in a straight line.

[–]beachhouseboy 7 points8 points ago

Surely it would be better if the blade was horizontal opposed to vertical so you could do a swiping action as you rode. Maybe I'm looking into it too much...

[–]The_Flabbergaster 2 points3 points ago

This was my first thought too.

[–]HAWKK13 6 points7 points ago

Where's your crowbar?

[–]MrsBenzedrine7152 2 points3 points ago

That's for headcrabs

[–]SarahKillsZombies 0 points1 point ago

Crowbars car bash in zombie skulls too, speciest!!!!

[–]flyinhawaiin813 2 points3 points ago

I didn't know the most effective way to kill a zombie is to ram a chainsaw into it's balls/vagina.

[–]FromTheHood 5 points6 points ago

Are you the nigga that stole by brother Jamal's bike?

[–]RobSpring11 6 points7 points ago

You would hit a zombie, get stuck and be eaten

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

It would also be loud as shit so you'd draw every zombie for about a mile. An active chainsaw is... what? 100 decibels? You might as well ride a motorcycle.

[–]ZombieFaceXP -4 points-3 points ago

Pay attention, guy. The chainsaw is bike powered, not engine powered. It would be silent.

[–]Chachamaru 0 points1 point ago

silent chainsaw

That's a first.

[–]ZombieFaceXP 0 points1 point ago

The chain is powered by the front wheel, not the other way around. Pay attention, theres no motor attached to the blade

[–]Chachamaru 0 points1 point ago

Disregarding the noise levels, it's a fucking useless tool. You'd have to pedal ridiculously fast to get the saw spinning fast enough, and the moment you hit a zombie you're down for the count.

[–]ZombieFaceXP 0 points1 point ago

Yep. Attach some explosives, and its a kamikaze weapon you can give to the guy who just got bit.

[–]facemoosh 1 point2 points ago

No one is ever truly ready for the zombie apocalypse.

[–]laxpulse 1 point2 points ago

ok so if this was attached to a moped, it'd be unstoppable to say the least

[–]stealthcopter 1 point2 points ago

if you look closely the chainsaw is also powering the front wheel, so pretty close!

[–]DangerOnTheRanger 0 points1 point ago

Frank West, is that you?

[–]drbooberry 0 points1 point ago

judging by the fixie, zombie tactics that no one has ever heard of, and username that is ironically like nyan cat, I'd say you might be the hipster the zombie apocalypse deserves but not the one it needs right now.

[–]st0pmakings3ns3 1 point2 points ago

Rule 1: cardio

[–]ZombieFaceXP 0 points1 point ago

Rule 34:

[–]downvotephobia 0 points1 point ago

I would rather ride a motorcycle and carry a machete. I think it would also look a lot more badass.

[–]kevo632 0 points1 point ago

Is the chainsaw driven by the wheel, or vice versa?

[–]rspeed 0 points1 point ago

The engine powers both the wheel and the blade. Though the gearing would cause the engine to stall immediately.

[–]I_FIST_CAMELS 0 points1 point ago

Wouldn't pull the front brake if I were you.

[–]llamanuggets 0 points1 point ago

That would be useless. You need it on the sides...

[–]mangletron 0 points1 point ago

I don't think a front wheel drive bike is a very good idea.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

If it's a bicycle powered chainsaw it probably doesn't matter but usually you never want to jab the end of the chainsaw against something. When that happens instead of the opposing force from saw moving horizontally along the ground it gets applied vertically and causes the chainsaw to kick back and probably hit you in the face. Again since it's attached to a bike it wouldn't do that and just pop the front of the bike up, but there are probably better angles to mount an anti-zombie chainsaw.

[–]Meudhros 0 points1 point ago

Was anyone else wondering if he stole that bike???

[–]SkyBS 0 points1 point ago

You mean ready to charge into them on a bicycle?

[–]dangerousD85 0 points1 point ago

Run into one wrong curb and you're gonna gut yourself...

[–]matt_strong 0 points1 point ago

All you are gonna do is impale one in the stomach. After which he will lean over and bite you. Shitty ride.

[–]roxas1370 0 points1 point ago

"Scuse me, coming through"

[–]Squally 0 points1 point ago

While we're discrediting this idea like rabid wolves, here's another! The zombies would just shishcabob until there was no chainsaw left, and have you ever tried pedaling through zombie mush?.. You're not gonna have a good time!

[–]LettersFromTheSky 0 points1 point ago

I'm trying to figure a legitimate purpose for this.

[–]Nicholas339 0 points1 point ago

False... The chainsaw would attract a horde and your sides are unprotected. So this would effectively seal your fate as a meal

[–]JubeltheBear 0 points1 point ago

LUL, that's a woman's bike...

[–]andrewg14ak 0 points1 point ago

You would be so fucked if you used that.

[–]losmuffinman 0 points1 point ago

Thats legal.

[–]ZombieParty77 0 points1 point ago

This is a total party killer.

[–]Honztastic -1 points0 points ago

That wouldn't get you down a block in the suburbs.

Problems I see:

  1. Vertical alignment of front-mounted weapon.

    a) The chainsaw blade will most likely only impale through a zombie's midsection. Increased weight and obstacles to motion. Proximity to active zombie. Requires abandonment of vehicle. Wasted time and effort in manufacture. Loss of valuable weapon/fuel.

    b) If zombie is not impaled, motion of chainsaw blades will channel detritus directly into wheel path. Increased obstacles. Potential loss of control-potentially fatal if in infested area. Potential loss of vehicle, weapon and fuel. SECONDARY: Active upper body of zombie would travel over handle bars, directly at pilot. Potentially fatal.

  2. Weapon placement and choice.

    a) Chainsaw is not mounted at head level (assuming a recently reanimated standing zombie at full average human height). Ability to neutralize zombie on first hit very low. Possible second hit at kneeling/crawling zombie more likely to permanently neutralize threat. Possibility of second pass not likely in escape/threat scenario. b) Chainsaw's destructive power and wide threat response arc (180 degrees or more with average/alert wielder) is limited to directly in front of vehicle. Incapable of using arm strength, forward thrust must come from vehicle. Thrust reliant on forward momentum. Ability to gain/regain momentum after low-speed impact unlikely. Potentially fatal in infested areas.

    c) Chainsaws gyroscopic action creates hindrance to steering. Reduced ability to turn and recover from collisions. Weapon's effectiveness reduced. Increased potential for pilot error. Potentially fatal.

    d) Safety shut-off switch difficult to operate. Either hand positions create problems. Hands on bicycle handlebars increase ability to pilot vehicle but render the chainsaw harder to stop. Potential self-inflicted injury (likely catastrophic) during crash or loss of control, or injury to fellow survivors. Hands on safety shut-off during vehicle operation increase weapon control, but decrease ability to pilot vehicle. Increased likelihood of crash.

  3. Vehicle

    a) Low maintenance. Non-fuel reliant. Excellent traits in vehicle for post-civilization survival. Saves fuel for generators or heating. Low-skill threshold for operation and repair. More energy efficient than walking.

b)DRAWBACKS: Cannot carry substantial cargo. Ability to carry any cargo negatively affects mobility directly. Increased energy expenditure could create lapse in judgement. Offroad ability in question directly relating to type of bicycle. Punctures likely. Potentially fatal in infested area.

    c) Open operator vulnerable to attack from all sides. Lack of protective barriers in front or sides. Easily knocked over. Potentially fatal.

    d) Easily accessible drive mechanism. Can be easily disabled from debris or zombie interference. Vehicle can be rendered inoperable. Potentially fatal. Loss of vehicle and equipment.

SUMMARY: Aesthetically pleasing and intimidating, but only to human subjects. Possible boosts to morale. INEFFECTIVE: High chance of failure, due to user error or failure to effectively neutralize threat. Gross misappropriation of valuable goods in survival scenario. Undue risk and vulnerability from use.
