A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

Why does everyone not like the "Wii?" After my countless hours of character design, basketball, Call of Duty 4 and other great games, not to mention the ability to store photos of precious moments like all those 70's roller disco competitions that I used to take place in, I've come to the conclusion that the "Wii" is a family friendly, fun and safe system that has given "Playstation" and other consoles a run for their money.

Outside of the first party games, there were very few good games made for the Wii. Everyone that considers themselves mildly serious gamers now has doubts about investing in Nintendo's new console.

Not trying to fanboy or anything, but why? Besides the first party titles, Ubisoft's new Rayman game looks pretty cool, and the zombie game they announced is interesting(though I want to see more before I really form an opinion). What else is coming out that makes the console investment worth it?

Not to speak for this guy, but the Wii U is the only console I would buy. After being consistently disappointed by the PS3 and the Xbox 360 the Wii was the only console that I actually spent time on and wasn't let down by. Sure, it has a bit of a dry spells here and there, but really any "hardcore" gaming I'd want to do will probably always be on the PC.

Pretty much this for me, too. I use my PC for most of my "serious" gaming. My Wii is a netflix box (and other entertainment), for Nintendo (1st or 2nd party) games, and for party games. It'd be sick to do that in HD. That is all I need to get the Wii U (probably on launch like I did with my original Wii). Actual good third party games are just an added bonus.

The Nintendo exclusives are worth it. Most of the worthwhile games coming out are cross-platform on the PC, and while Sony and Microsoft have a handful of exclusives, they don't interest me as much as Nintendo's.

That's what Nintendo's conference is for. We had the pre-E3 thing so they could get hardware details out of the way before Ubisoft's conference, but also so they could focus on software on their presentation.

We know basically fuck-all about software at this time. Last year said THQ was supposed to be doing some stuff, but recent troubles meant Metro: Last Light was cancelled, and other titles mainly involved Ubisoft.

Should have a more solid idea after the conference is done.

If Wii U follows through with what appears to be supporting games like Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, Tekken, etc, then I am definitely interested simply because it replaces the 360 while adding a ton of awesome Nintendo games (and it has that traditional controller which I like).
