Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Wow, it's fucking KinectTM

FTFY

[–]MurByrne 4 points5 points ago

Come on. There was lots of stuff, just nothing that interestes the people here on /r/gaming. More stuff directed towards a different crowd, they're really pushing kinect which is seen as gimmicky by us. They tried to please the hardcore gamers with halo, gears, tomb raider, forza, and black ops. I wouldn't say it was nothing, just a few good bits with a lot of shit piled on top.

But do people really enjoy Kinect for playing games? It seems that the motion capture and possibly even medical application of Kinect are more relevant than the gaming possibilities are. The input lag just blows so many dicks. Who could possibly have fun with that?

Old people, children, casual gamers, I dunno.

People who buy the console, play some game for an hour or two, and never touch the console again, except maybe if they have company, it's raining out, and they forgot to rent a movie. Oh right, and when a new CoD comes out, because a new re-skin of the same fucking game is so exciting.

No really, that's just about every person I know that really likes motion technology.

Not that I have anything against the concept, it just doesn't work that well in practice.

Depends. The 360 was beast as fuck at launch, but then Microsoft gave up on making it's own games. If they can find the way to drum up 1st party support to the same extent as Sony and Nintendo, I'll definitely get one.

[–]prboi 0 points1 point ago

Well if Sony is smart, they will launch around the same time as the 360. & being that the Wii U will now get the third party support that PS3 & 360 has, the Wii U will become a third party power house. MS & Sony will need a strong first party line up if they even want to compete with the Wii U.

[–]CatboyMac 0 points1 point ago

Going forward, Nintendo has to be careful that people don't make the same choice the did with the Wii. If it doesn't set itself apart from the PS3 and 360 enough, people won't want to make the jump.

I don't think it's about having people switch over more than it is people adopt a console that supports all types of play styles. MS has been trying to do this but it just doesn't work because there is too much core gamers on the platform that don't care about this stuff. However, the Wii had a very diverse user base that include casual gamers, core gamers & even older people looking to stay in shape. The Wii U will just amplify that by finally allowing the core gamers to actually be recognized & supported.

Throughout this whole generation, MS dominated 3rd party support. Now that the Wii U is threatening to pretty much kill MS's attempt to gain a strong casual audience, they'll need to rethink how they approach the next console which is most likely going to be strong first party support since both Nintendo & Sony have a wide variety of franchise under their belt while MS has 3 notable ones.

All Nintendo needs to do is have strong online & software support & they will pretty much be the 360.

Thats what I thought...

Someone really need to make a MS edition of this gif

[–]prboi 6 points7 points ago

MS focused on software (As they should since they are a software company). They don't need to focus on first party support because they already have a strong 3rd party lead. Next generation, however, it's not going to cut it. Next year's E3 needs to be all about the next gen console or else MS will truly fail.

[–]CatboyMac 3 points4 points ago

They don't need to focus on first party support because they already have a strong 3rd party lead.

But most of the games they showed off were on their competitor's systems. The Microsoft press conference is the only one a hardcore Sony/Nintendo fanboy can get hyped for, because chances are you'll be playing most of the games they show off.

[–]prboi -1 points0 points ago

But Microsoft has solidified it's stance as lead console to develop for. Most of these titles are made for 360 & then ported to PS3 simply because it's just easier that way. That won't be the case next generation because now that Sony knows what they need to do to get the upper hand against Microsoft, they will bring their A game.

Except Halo 4 rocks

[–]everynne 0 points1 point ago

This year Microsoft is focusing hardcore on Windows 8 which will launch before the year is over. Gaming/entertainment will be their focus next year.

[–]PhilosophersBane 0 points1 point ago

It was very exciting for people who use products of theirs besides the core 360 console. I enjoyed it.

[–]starguy13 -1 points0 points ago

It was boring because everything was expected... Halo, forza, gears, tomb raider, call of duty, and kinect.
