You get host, giving you a distinct latency advantage over other players. MW3 has atrocious netcode, 100+ ping is the minimum. Gaining the host position gives you a tremendous advantage.

What are you going on about? I'm pretty sure OP was saying that he personally prefers the gameplay mechanics of Battlefield 3 over Modern Warfare 3. I don't even think it goes about how he "prefers" one mechanic over the other, it's just that after playing Battlefield for so much time, when he went on to play MW3 he had to get used to it all over again.

Wow, had no idea. I'm not shitting you—but this makes so much sense... there's even a heli at one end's breach.

I was acknowledging the analogy that MW3 was an extreme single-player hyperhero type of multiplayer, particularly with Specialist. Rambo never ran out of ammo and he killed everyone (sans 1st movie, where he only killed a couple, including a helicopter gunner via a thrown rock WHICH IS THE COOLEST THING EVER). Black Hawk Down was the film version of a dominantly-realistic multiplayer team co-op. They worked mostly as grouped units, used various element of cover way more than chest-high-walls, and if you tried to Rambo your way through BF, you won't get shit done.

Neat games if you find the right online communities.

You know what, I catually find MW3 more fun that BF3. If you wanna call yourself better because you like BZZ noises, neon lights and unlocking ten scopes a match, fine.

I stopped playing BF3 a month after it came out and I'm actually having more fun with MW3 because i got it for £10 and I don't play deathmatches with kids over Xbox Live.

I too have more fun with CoD than any Battlefield game. BF can just be so slow paced sometimes. And even though I like to fuck around with my friends on BF, I still find myself enjoying CoD more.

Bad Company 2 was my favorite shooter of all time.. could NOT get into BF3 for the life of me.. It seemed like a completely different game for me, different control mechanics and over-lighting ugh.

Exactly. The real shame is that they tried to take COD's playstyles with the pacing, the maps and the million upgrades, but they ended up with the worst of both franchises. And yet, I'm still playing BF2 since 2005 while BF3 lasted a month for me.

I don't know exactly what you're expecting from those games, though.

I've played Quake for close to ten years and I feel it's the most refined fps ever constructed in terms of movement, control, aim, and tactics.

When I play BF3 I'm already well aware the skill set is considerably lower than a game like Quake, which isn't to say it's easy to pull some crazy killstreak, it still takes certain skills from those fps elements I mentioned. All I'm saying is there is a time and a place for certain game styles.
