His last little "mew" was either "thanks!" or "fucker!" my cat translator is playing up.

[–]Frix 229 points230 points ago

Actually the words "thanks" and "fucker" are the same in cat-language.

[–]monkeking 80 points81 points ago

fucker

[–]killzy707 79 points80 points ago

Thank you mother thanker.

[–]nomnomsprinkles 35 points36 points ago

Fuck you mother thanker?

[–]killzy707 12 points13 points ago

No. I can be an ass at times.

[–]whoopzzz[!] 6 points7 points ago

Perfect! I can be a dick sometimes.

[–]btnheazy03 5 points6 points ago

NOW KISS

[–]kenba2099 1 point2 points ago

You had me at dicks fuck assholes.

[–]darkmessiah 2 points3 points ago

You are HIV mew.

[–]whatdatmean 2 points3 points ago

Thanks

[–]stevesonaplane 70 points71 points ago

I have a cat and that was definitely a "you worthless piece of shit, i'll sit on your sleeping child's face the next time you play games like that with me. do you fucking understand me? I kill babies and I give no shits. Don't fuck with."

[–]Fiverings 27 points28 points ago

You think this is a fucking game?

[–]Charlesm313131 44 points45 points ago

[–]entropybasedorganism 16 points17 points ago

This is probably still my favorite image on the internet.

[–]Treetoshiningtree 2 points3 points ago

You're right this isn't a thanking game

[–]just_a_quantum_dot 8 points9 points ago

Going by my previous feline encounters, that was definitely a "very well, you may live...for now."

[–]bobnojio 7 points8 points ago

for Meow... [FTFY]

[–]SockMonkeh 3 points4 points ago

There is no word for "thank you" in cat.

[–]LouBrown 1 point2 points ago

The video was great up to that point, but the little "thanks!" just makes it golden.

[–]ShetlandJames 10 points11 points ago

Dear lord that is one noisy little cat. Makes me grateful that my cat is very quiet.

[–]cuppincayk 11 points12 points ago

That cat is fucking pissed

[–]cephalgia 16 points17 points ago

"I said.........BITCH!"

[–]Way_too_poor 2 points3 points ago

"if you wanted to go to Taylor's...just tell a brotha you wanna go to Taylor's!"

[–]nhupress 13 points14 points ago

He's like "thanks" at the end.

[–]ChiliFlake 5 points6 points ago

Thanks, I just spent 40 minutes watching cat videos on youtube.

[–]no-sweat 6 points7 points ago

I WANNA GIVE HIM A LITTLE KISS ON THE HEAD

[–]input 2 points3 points ago

[–]snowlion13 0 points1 point ago

even asian cats are smarter

[–]Satans_pro_tips 470 points471 points ago

From the cat's perspective, all it knows is that its human needs more training.

[–]3LollipopZ-1Red2Blue 42 points43 points ago

Yeah, in patting, opening, bringing me food, cleaning my food eating places, etc.

[–]superkickstart 170 points171 points ago

So cats can use tools after all.

[–]xampl9 64 points65 points ago

That is a pretty smart cat.

[–]Alex-the-3217th 30 points31 points ago

Cats are natural overlords, well versed in the use of biological tools.

[–]MrMagoo22 18 points19 points ago

I thought that was bunnies...

[–]2Weird2Live2Rare2Die 28 points29 points ago

Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes. They've got those hoppy legs and twitchy little noses. And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

[–]derekwtg 11 points12 points ago

Bunnies. Bunnies. It must be bunnies!

[–]sbeguy 3 points4 points ago

Or maybe midgets...

[–]ultimatemorky 6 points7 points ago

Anybody who has owned a bunny and any small animals knows that bunnies are willing to rape anything. Bunnies are natures rapists.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

[–]Alex-the-3217th 10 points11 points ago

If cat's didn't eat them before they got any real power.

[–]RickJamesBond 5 points6 points ago

seems legit

[–]HighSorcerer 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, they don't have opposable thumbs, so pretty much any other kind of tool is a fucking mystery to them.

[–]Punkgoblin 4 points5 points ago

We lucked out on that one, even though I doubt cats could do a worse job of running the world than people.

[–]the_opinion 4 points5 points ago

You don't think cats arranged for our opposable thumbs, just so they didn't have to bother with them?

[–]Punkgoblin 4 points5 points ago

You can just stop right now with all of that mindfuck-edupedness! Too damn early...

[–]FreeName 2 points3 points ago

That is a scenario that I have considered to some lengths, and I can assure you that cat planet would suck.

[–]Punkgoblin 2 points3 points ago

Not if you're the baddest of the ass cat.

[–]vahntitrio 4 points5 points ago

My dog would just stare at it. If I did nothing, she would then bark. If I still did nothing, she would simply destroy the container.

[–]squatdog 14 points15 points ago

My dog just the other day wanted to play tug-of-war with me, so while I was lying on the floor, he pushed my hand over so it was palm up, put his toy on my hand, and then clamped my hand around it with his mouth, then jumped back waiting for me to wave it around.

When I didn't, he pawed at my hand, picked his toy up, placed it back, clamped my hand around it with his mouth, and stepped on my hand to make sure I was gripping it.

Up until that moment, I had thought he was pretty fucking stupid, but now I know he's much more intelligent than I give him credit for.

[–]IUsedToBeAPygmy 20 points21 points ago

Cats have been using tools to feed them for thousands of years.

[–]JudgeWhoAllowsStuff 18 points19 points ago

Said tools love to tell boring stories about their cats.

[–]IUsedToBeAPygmy 10 points11 points ago

Cats use the same tools to update their feline photoalbums online.

[–]salvationamy 2 points3 points ago

Came here to say this. Cat lovers, love your cats all you want. You are nothing but a tool, from their perspectives

[–]LouBrown 11 points12 points ago

Not so much. Believe it or not, cats can be genuinely affectionate.

[–]putin_my_ass 0 points1 point ago

They're smarter than that, they just get someone else to use the tool for them.

[–]SirDigbyChicknCeasar 135 points136 points ago

I love the pause and realization of "Hey, you aren't doing shit, open this."

[–]iamiamwhoami 3 points4 points ago

Use those damn opposable thumbs you're always bragging about.

[–]pathogen47 2 points3 points ago

Upvote just for your username. "In a city gripped by fear and greed, on streets greased with blood and tears, who is there to look out for the little guy and see if he's got any money on him? Yes, it's the surprising adventures of me, Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar."

[–]Reneth 142 points143 points ago

Assuming direct control!

[–]stanfan114 58 points59 points ago

Handslave I need you!

[–]NobblyNobody 32 points33 points ago

Does that count as Tool Using behaviour?

(If so, as the owner I might be slightly offended by that)

[–]dracthrus 7 points8 points ago

I think cats have considered us tools for a long time. Perhaps not the hammer type of tool but tools none the less.

[–]relevantusername- 0 points1 point ago

Good thing you explained your joke, otherwise I would've been confused.

[–]Sinavestia 9 points10 points ago

Holy crap! They're sentient! I don't know about you guys, but I welcome our new feline overlords.

[–]OrD0g 6 points7 points ago

[–]Sinavestia 1 point2 points ago

Chairman Meow?

[–]NobblyNobody 12 points13 points ago

Not only that, they've developed Monkey Butlers long before I got mine!

[–]HighSorcerer 9 points10 points ago

Hah! I get it, we're the monkey butlers. I'm gonna go out and buy a kitten and a suit.

[–]ChiliFlake 1 point2 points ago

Better yet, buy a kitten suit. You might get some other monkey to feed you.

[–]Punkgoblin 2 points3 points ago

"As the pet", your life will be much easier once you accept your role in your cats life.

[–]nodefect 12 points13 points ago

Uses teeth to grab the hand

This hurts you.

[–]Punkgoblin 0 points1 point ago

QQ?

[–]TickleTh1sElmo 45 points46 points ago

"Don't just sit there; help me flip this tub of karma over!"

[–]Breathing_Balls 19 points20 points ago

It is cruel to tease a catnip addict for fun.

[–]Soukai 50 points51 points ago

As cute as that is... unless that cat has no teeth, that must hurt. Either that or my cat just has ridiculously sharp teeth.

[–]stony_phased 127 points128 points ago

No necessarily - cats know how to bite lightly. Have you never play-fought with a kitten? They take your fingers between their teeth but it doesn't hurt.

[–]Gozujohn2k 62 points63 points ago

True, their teeth doesn't hurt....Their claws though, god dammit how they can scratch wounds easily!

[–]a_unique_username 70 points71 points ago

Kittens man, they're like tiny little razor blades.

[–]geusebio 48 points49 points ago

Tiny little mewling razor blades.

[–]TimmaDee 81 points82 points ago

I will start shaving with kittens.

[–]geusebio 11 points12 points ago

Use dog slobber as shaving foam.

[–]dracthrus 8 points9 points ago

The good news is that scars don't tend to grow hair so your going to be in a shave once or twice and done for life type of situation.

[–]TorkX 23 points24 points ago

Welcome to /r/nocontext!

[–]psyne 6 points7 points ago

I read that as "shaving the kittens" and got a little weirded out for a second.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

This kills the face.

[–]rmsy 3 points4 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]kezorN 1 point2 points ago

uhm..

[–]viscence 11 points12 points ago

I'm now picturing a sentient mewling ball of razor blades that wants to cuddle with you. It's freaking me out.

[–]MrMagoo22 11 points12 points ago

You just pictured a regular kitten.

[–]speckledspectacles 8 points9 points ago

Tagged as "Freaked out by kittens"

[–]geusebio 3 points4 points ago

where is sureilldrawthat when you need 'em?

[–]Lurking_Grue 1 point2 points ago

Dawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

[–]Arbusto 1 point2 points ago

Tiny little adorable mewling razor blades.

[–]geusebio 4 points5 points ago

Tiny little adorable, pissing-behind-the-TV, mewling razor blades.

[–]Dr_fish 1 point2 points ago

Cute fluffy razor blades

[–]heroman44 11 points12 points ago

I just got a kitten, Its adorably painful.

[–]jbird123 6 points7 points ago

Painfully adorable too!

[–]JoeyJoeC 4 points5 points ago

my kitten, im sure was born with sharks teeth

[–][deleted] ago

[–]mynameishere 0 points1 point ago

Those claws are even worse when you consider that they're poisoned like a punji stick.

[–]LouBrown 5 points6 points ago

One of my cats likes to knead my belly before laying down on my lap (fluffing the pillow I guess). He's usually very careful to be gentle when he does this, but every now and then he'll stick me pretty good. I'll usually let out an, "Ow!" and he'll give me a look that says, "Oh shit- sorry about that."

[–]Elxim 8 points9 points ago

kittens' bites don't hurt because of how young they are, but you shouldn't encourage this behavior or you'll end up with an adult cat who doesn't know not to use their full strength when play-biting you.

[–]Zalitara 8 points9 points ago

My cat does. She's 10 years old and not once has she actually bit me. She takes my fingers into her mouth and keeps her teeth at them, but never actually bites down. Then she licks the fingers she's bitten afterwards. I realize she probably thinks she's training me, but I don't really care.

[–]NoActualSuperPowers 1 point2 points ago

My cat's about 15 and he hasn't seriously bitten me since he was a kitten, and even then he quickly realised that it hurt me. He's the most affectionate cat I've ever met.

[–]ChiliFlake 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, my cat must have missed that memo.

[–]quintessadragon 0 points1 point ago

Cats can also bite down incredibly hard (and painfully) still without breaking the skin. They know the difference between "I'm going to eat this, tear it to shreds" and "I want to hurt you because I'm a dick, but I don't want you to get so angry with me that you want to hurt me back"

[–]boobsbr 0 points1 point ago

mine doesn't, either his mouth is closed or he's sinking his teeth in my hand.

doesn't know how not to slash people to shreds either.

[–]angrytroll123 0 points1 point ago

Yea but to pick up a hand the cat needs to put down some force

[–]down_vote_magnet 14 points15 points ago

The trick with most cats/kittens is not to struggle if they do start biting or dig their claws in. Don't pull away, just let your hand go limp. Then use your other hand to stroke their head or do something distracting to their head, as this will distract it and allow you to slip your hand away.

[–]GreenStrong 27 points28 points ago

Don't struggle, do say "Ouch!". Kittens and cats vocalise to let each other know when they're playing too rough, they can learn the human signal easily.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]ChiliFlake 10 points11 points ago

What they're actually grabbing is the loose skin on the back of the neck. Cats don't have the same kind of connective tissue as many other animals, that's why it's so easy to skin them (rabbits too).

Edit: Wait, that sounded bad. I've never actually skinned a cat (or a rabbit), I just happen to know this catfact. Please don't downvote me to hell.

[–]ChiliFlake 1 point2 points ago

My cat is a biter. She was declawed (not by me!), and I think she bites to make up for her lack of claws. And she bites HARD. Not only do I get the deep infection from those needle-sharp teeth (cats mouth's are pretty toxic), I also get bruises because she bites so hard. But I also know she has issues, and isn't quite 'normal'.

My SO got to play with some tiger kittens (cubs?) in Thailand, and all he got were some scratches that healed up in week. Sooo J.

But, yeah, sometimes the only thing that helps my cat to relax is to ... not scatch, but kinda 'massage' the back of her neck. I always thought this was soothing because it reminded her of her mother, when she was a kitten. I never knew this was an actual physiological thing, thank you!

[–]MF_Kitten 6 points7 points ago

Meh. When cats carry their stuff with their mouth, they don't do it hard at all.

The variation in points is interesting. 2 in the negative, 3 ridiculously high including this one. I think reddit is bi-polar

[–]rilibored 13 points14 points ago

I'm pretty sure the other two were downvoted because of the titles not the gif itself.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

"Omg, hilarious cat..." yeah, i would've downvoted just because of the title. And they don't even try to save the title, it goes from bad to worse!!!1

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points ago

It's definitely the titles that killed the negative ones.

[–]justgrant2009 1 point2 points ago

Thank you! I wish more people checked Karmadecay before reposting something for the nth time.

[–]direbowels 11 points12 points ago

We are their tools.

[–]mysmokeaccount 5 points6 points ago

Ah, see, cats are too smart to evolve. If they developed tools they would enslave the world, but they found a lazy shortcut by making humans do everything for them instead. Thus we are still slaves, but at least we are alive.

[–]Ha_window 0 points1 point ago

But then why would they allow us to own dogs?

[–]Pancake11 4 points5 points ago

"Hey! you, with the thumbs! Help me."

[–]kira161 2 points3 points ago

Eh..eh..eh.. wait! I can use this :3

[–]membersonlyjacket01 2 points3 points ago

Overlord cat.

[–]supermanstan 2 points3 points ago

Cats are usually more subtle at controlling us.

[–]lydocia 1 point2 points ago

Things like this make me hate my allergies.

[–]crawlingpony 1 point2 points ago

Opposable teeth > opposable thumbs

[–]Crowforge 1 point2 points ago

I think that counts as tool use.

[–]Mein_Tarnaccount 1 point2 points ago

TIL cat owners are tools.

[–]GimmeCat 1 point2 points ago

Ugh, I remember the first time I saw this video, I got into an argument with some moron who was convinced that cat was trying to mount the guy's arm. Would absolutely not budge in his conviction. Perv.

[–]GFandango 1 point2 points ago

In all fairness the cat is damn intelligent. When I struggle to open something it never occurs to me to ask someone else for help.

[–]witchy_witch31 1 point2 points ago

clever pussy.. cat.

[–]UnfunnyAvenger 1 point2 points ago

Thumbs. It's why we rule the earth. (for now)

[–]Rofl_Troll 1 point2 points ago

The guy in the gif is such a tool.

[–]occasionallyacid 1 point2 points ago

Well this confirms everything I've always suspected. We are the tools of our cats for opening jars. Only reason they let us serve is because our opposable thumbs are excellent at opening cans of tuna. I for one welcome our cat overlords.

[–]delihelp 1 point2 points ago

My dog (a morkie) does that on a daily basis, she bites my hands and moves it towards the toy bone she wants me to throw. Animals are the best.

[–]guggabump 1 point2 points ago

My cat would have went to the trouble of having me open it, look at it, maybe sniff it and then fuck off.

[–]onederful 1 point2 points ago

Humin pls.

catdolan.jpg

[–]DCSRM 1 point2 points ago

There have been studies with dogs vs wolves on this same type of thing.

They would be presented with a puzzle to get food. The wolves would try and try and sometimes get it, while the dogs would give up quickly and look to the human for help.

Also, there were two cans in front of a person, one of which would have food. the dog/wold would be placed 10 ft away from the cans. The person would point to the empty one, and the dog would go to it, even though it clearly could smell the food in the other. The wolf would ignore the human and go to the food can.

We bred the most dependent wolves we found, and got our happy, slobbery friends we have now. Evolution is kewl

[–]Lord-Longbottom 2 points3 points ago

(For us English aristocrats, I leave you this 10 ft -> 0.0 Furlongs) - Pip pip cheerio chaps!

[–]EnsoElysium 1 point2 points ago

Cats just use us for our opposable thumbs.

[–]Digiimandan 3 points4 points ago

Redditor, help me by re-posting this again in 2 days for 1000 karma.

[–]Johnjo01 2 points3 points ago

So cute! My goodness, can s/he be any more direct in telling you what s/he wants? Adorable! What a smart cat!

[–]ForTheTrees 8 points9 points ago

I understand reddit being flooded with reposts, but number 1 on the front page?? This cat has been uploaded so many times it's shocking that he hasn't evolved thumbs to open the fucking thing himself by now.

[–]dcoxen 2 points3 points ago

This comment is a repost.

[–]ForTheTrees 1 point2 points ago

Now that's how you argue with me. Upvote.

[–]callmesuspect 1 point2 points ago

[–]kaiyotic 1 point2 points ago

this immediatly reminded me of this. Cats are so freaking clever i'm never getting one. hehe

[–]hamingston 10 points11 points ago

Depends on the cat, mine is as dumb as a bag of hammers, but she can be cute and I guess that's all I really ask of her.

[–]Temujin1210 2 points3 points ago

My cat too falls in the dumb as a bag of hammers group.

[–]Lurkingforlife 6 points7 points ago

A cat I once knew had a vendetta against my border collie and would actively plot her death. The cat's been known to knock vases off of mantles in the hopes of hitting my dog who was sleeping beneath, push my dog's food bowl beneath couches or beds so she would (presumably) starve to death, and sit in doorways so the dog couldn't enter room to interact with the family (my dog knew better than to walk past the cat when he was in guard-mode).

Too clever by far.

[–]ninjadudenitro 0 points1 point ago

That's a cool cat.

[–]djdais 0 points1 point ago

Wow that is bloody amazing.

[–]KindaRight 0 points1 point ago

Does that qualify as tool use?

[–]Po0zleP0under 0 points1 point ago

I don't know why, but every time some says "human, blah blah blah" vegeta is the first thing that pops in my head.

[–]Sparklebutt69 0 points1 point ago

Hey! Hairless monkey! Can't believe God gave you idiots the thumbs...

[–]YD-DR 0 points1 point ago

Whelp, they've figured it out. I, for one, bow to our new kitteh overlords.

[–]StumblyMcStagger 0 points1 point ago

[–]wicked_beans 0 points1 point ago

help me right meow!!!

[–]Fusorfodder 0 points1 point ago

That's a pretty damn intelligent cat. It is recognizing that it can not perform the action, and then recognizing what exactly is needed to perform the action. It might not understand why it works, but it knows it does. This is almost as smart as using tools directly. Neat.

[–]sommersprossen 0 points1 point ago

"Either you open this fucking box or I shit on your pillow..so help me god"

[–]strattonbrazil 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of Nova's "Dogs Decoded" special, where they contrast dogs and wolves. In all the "impossible" puzzles the animals had to solve, the wolves would keep trying while the dogs would eventually look at the human and gesturing for them to help. I've seen this in a lot of dogs, but not cats. I wonder if this is a learned behavior for this cat.

[–]smartpartz 0 points1 point ago

This is just the beginning people! Soon cats will have complete control over our every limb.... become a dog lover today.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I believe that is evidence of tool use.

[–]C_T_C_C 0 points1 point ago

I had a cat this intelligent, but then it died...

[–]p3pperr 0 points1 point ago

ouch ?

[–]ninjawaffle99 0 points1 point ago

Here, let me give you a hand.

[–]Airazz 0 points1 point ago

[–]white_discussion 0 points1 point ago

That's brilliant. Have never seen a cat do anything like that before.
