Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

This is the first time I've seen a use for "It's complicated" that didn't involve 13 year olds. Oh wait.

[–]facilitateego 44 points45 points ago

She was 13, i think he was 17. In the beginning of the play, Romeo thought he was in love with a completely different girl. Then suddenly, he is in love, again. This time with Juliet. I think its a play about how absorbed young love is. How it shouldn't be taken so seriously.

[–]JorBob 22 points23 points ago

I always thought he was complaining that Rosaline wouldn't put out.

What was my English class teaching me...

[–]TaikongXiongmao 22 points23 points ago

Romeo and Juliet, I.i:

ROMEO

O, she is rich in beauty, only poor,
That when she dies with beauty dies her store.

BENVOLIO

Then she hath sworn that she will still live chaste?

ROMEO

She hath, and in that sparing makes huge waste

It's Shakespeare, it's always about sex.

[–]a_can_of_solo 3 points4 points ago

it's a play about how stupid kids are.

[–]314R8 2 points3 points ago

and dead 3 days later IIRC

[–]Mypenisblack 1 point2 points ago

Spoiler Alert!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Yes folks, statutory rape is the phrase your looking for.

[–]Yasian 4 points5 points ago

Nah bro it's all cool. They got married and shit.

[–]314R8 1 point2 points ago

no, since Romeo and Juliet laws apply

[–]The_Real_JS 2 points3 points ago

That again? I still don't know what those gifs are from. But they're disturbing....

[–]thedaidai 1 point2 points ago

What...the Who Who are you?

[–]TwistedDrum5 1 point2 points ago

NSFW...NSFL

[–]Raplena14 47 points48 points ago

pfft please. They wouldn't be facebook friends their families hated each other, they kept it a secret but put it on facebook?

[–]iThinkImGonnaLikeYou 77 points78 points ago

Well they were teens. You know. The stupid kind.

[–]Old-Ben-Kenobi 14 points15 points ago

What's the other kind?

[–]linearcore 11 points12 points ago

[–]Old-Ben-Kenobi 0 points1 point ago

Yeah but he's just going to grow up to be a man whore and hang out with some whiny guy named Ted.

[–]Mr_Bog 40 points41 points ago

Yea, plus didn't it happen ages ago, like when myspace was still a thing.

[–]StealthGhost 5 points6 points ago

I can't laugh at your comment because I'm sure someone, somewhere would actually say that.

[–]GetStapled 5 points6 points ago

Yes, because Romeo and Juliet are known for their good decision making.

[–]iamnoss 0 points1 point ago

I think you're underestimating the stupidity of teenagers + internet.

[–]dschneider 0 points1 point ago

Her wall was public, he liked it without being her friend.

EDIT: Sorry, timeline...

[–]blahblahblahxyz123 -1 points0 points ago

So that means they'd use myspace?

[–]POULTRY_PLACENTA -2 points-1 points ago

Their parents can figure out how to work the computer.

[–]notcaffeinefree 27 points28 points ago

Shortly followed by "Juliet Capulet" is no longer is a relationship and then a bunch of RIP posts on her wall.

[–]Ivor97 4 points5 points ago

And Romeo. And now Capulet and Montague are friends.

[–]Mrs_Brisby 15 points16 points ago

I bite my thumb at thee, vandal!

[–]1darkadonis 2 points3 points ago

Nay, as they dare. I will bite my thumb at them; which is a disgrace to them, if they bear it.

[–]QuillJS 12 points13 points ago

Am I the only one that pictured Marcucio as a sassy black man the entire time I was reading the play?

[–]ExLenne 22 points23 points ago

I think you mean Mercutio? And no, you weren't the only one. See: The Leo DiCaprio/Claire Danes film starring Augustus Hill as a very fabulous (and very black) Mercutio.

[–]bakdom146 4 points5 points ago

And then the poor guy gets sent to Oz. Poor Mercutio. They even paralyzed him.

[–]jeffreychoo2 2 points3 points ago

And then his spine is healed by the Lost island, but a plague strikes his house; the others kidnap Walt.

[–]VikingHedgehog 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, that Queen Mab speech is a fabulous one.

[–]POULTRY_PLACENTA 1 point2 points ago

In the 1996 movie version in pretty sure he is.

[–]OneRomaines 19 points20 points ago

Are you sure that's graffiti? Either this is a really, really good job, or that's actually paper on a wall.

[–]Submaximal 27 points28 points ago

That's a form of graffiti street art that uses wheatpaste, which is essentially a combination of water and flour, to stick images on a wall. The paste will keep 'em stuck up there for a while and will make them fairly difficult to tear down.

EDIT: Thanks somegrass, keepin' it accurate.

[–]bakdom146 4 points5 points ago

And then you go over it with a razor blade and cut the paper into 20 small, differently shaped pieces. That makes it nearly impossible to tear off.

[–]somegrass 1 point2 points ago

"Graffiti (singular: graffito; the plural is used as a mass noun) is writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place"

Source: Wikipedia

[–]LarrySDonald 0 points1 point ago

Bill Posters is innocent!

[–]RedAnarchist -3 points-2 points ago

God I hate graffiti and the assfuckers who do it.

[–]ShaSay 5 points6 points ago

Bad anarchist!

[–]aaaaaaaargh 0 points1 point ago

he might be anarcho-captialist

[–]otherworldsthanthese 1 point2 points ago

is "assfuckers" an insult?

[–]zimm3rmann 0 points1 point ago

How do you feel about street art then? Look up Banksy and Cooledge and tell me that seeing their stuff wouldn't make your day better.

[–]RedAnarchist -2 points-1 points ago

Street art is different. Banksy is a pathetic hack who stole his entire style and made millions of what was once on of the last uncomercoalized art forms.

He also has 0 free hand skills.

[–]zimm3rmann 0 points1 point ago

His stuff is pretty interesting, and I enjoyed his movie. Good on him that he has made some money off of it. You act as if the only reason he started doing it is because he wanted to make money....

[–]zanycaswell 0 points1 point ago

It is paper on a wall, yes. Also it is graffiti.

[–]TheCostume 2 points3 points ago

They don't do the date like that in Italy.

[–]asteara 3 points4 points ago

Am I the only one who thinks Romeo and Juliet is a terrible play?

[–]TaikongXiongmao 2 points3 points ago

Genuinely curious here: why?

[–]asteara 2 points3 points ago

  1. There's the standard stupid-teenagers-think-they're-in-love-after-five-minutes argument.
  2. The only reason Romeo is unaware of Juliet's plan to fake her death is that the friar who was suppose to tell him got stopped by some random plague check. This itself isn't that bad really, but considering that by that point the play is in full-blown tragedy mode it feels a little too Seinfeld-ish.
  3. The ending is ridiculous: after generations of feuding and after the probable deaths of countless other Capulets and Montagues (including Tybalt) these two families see that one stupid teenager from each of their houses has died in the name of badly laid plans and over-active hormones and suddenly throw their feud aside and decide to be friend. Even Disney doesn't pull shit that unbelievable.
  4. There are way better Shakespearean plays out there and yet Romeo and Juliet, easily his stupidest play, gets all the attention. It's constantly remade and re-imagined and nearly every American high school student is forced to read it.

Also Mercutio dies in like act III and he's the only good character in the whole damn play.

[–]electricmice 0 points1 point ago

most of shakespeare's stories aren't particularly good. you read it or watch it for the incredibly witty wordplay. this is why you can read shakespeare over and over and it will still be good. it's very difficult to remember his wordplay unlike a story where once you know it, it cease to be as entertaining. shakespeare's stories aren't originally his anyway but no one can write like him. this is also the reason why i find fans of shakespeare who have only read translated text to be pretentious. they just think he's good because he's so famous but there's no way a translator can ever capture the nuances of shakespeare.

[–]asteara 1 point2 points ago

Couldn't disagree more, Hamlet was brilliant

[–]Liverotto -5 points-4 points ago

Am I the only one who thinks Romeo and Juliet is a terrible play?

Of course not, there are many stupid people in the world, you are not the only one.

[–]asteara 2 points3 points ago

Yes, thank you for immediately assuming that simply because I am critical of something that you enjoy that I must be a moron, the world could learn much from such enlightened minds as yours.

[–]Brosephbro 1 point2 points ago

I love graffiti like this.

[–]Bacon_loves_Steve 1 point2 points ago

That's awesome, is that at Juliet's "house" in Veronia?

[–]RepRap3d 4 points5 points ago

Ahem NSFW

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Isn't she 14 in that image?

[–]ANDYBIERSACK 0 points1 point ago

Edit: Found proof go to controversial rating discussions)

[–]QuillJS 5 points6 points ago

I don't get it. All I see are tits.

[–]MadModderX -2 points-1 points ago

I'm assuming a big assume in relation to these tiny assumes it's from the leo de caprio romeo and juliet

edit: I fail at movie trivia D:

[–]ffffffpony 1 point2 points ago

It's from the 1968 film.

[–]QuillJS -2 points-1 points ago

I've seen the movie and no. Maybe he just felt like posting some tits. Just for the sake of tits.

[–]nextyeardc 3 points4 points ago

Nah its from a different Romeo and Juliet movie, if I remember correctly.

[–]QuillJS 0 points1 point ago

The one from the 90s right? Starts out with a gun fight in a gas station?

[–]nextyeardc 2 points3 points ago

No that's the leo one, which is a "modern take". This is from like an old school, strict retelling.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

"Hie hence Hie hence we must away." Yeah...I might have rewound that a couple times on our vhs tape.

[–]Paclac 0 points1 point ago

NSFW!

[–]Liverotto -1 points0 points ago

In our Feminist society those are Illegal Tits that have been grandfathered in.

[–]Spiderdan[!] 1 point2 points ago

I have to be honest here. This is fucking stupid. I really hope no one looked at that and was like "This art is soooo deep."

[–]cleaningallthethings 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure it's from this book. I own a copy and it's quite good.

[–]StochasticOoze 0 points1 point ago

why would Romeo like this?

[–]Ilmena 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure they wouldn't be facebook friends

[–]tarsef 0 points1 point ago

I... really want the PDF or vector art for this. I want it for my bedroom.

[–]tyrroi 0 points1 point ago

This isn't Graffiti.

[–]314R8 0 points1 point ago

Can I get a link to the really great review of Romeo and Juliet someone had posted sometime back, explaining Romeo and Juliet as a comedy.

My reddit search skills are sorely lacking

[–]Late2theGame 0 points1 point ago

does it bug anyone else that Juliet's first and last name rhyme? Its bugged me since 8th grade.

[–]Kalix 0 points1 point ago

I brought it on /r/italy it would not hurt to see around verona. :D

Just when I thought I couldn't be more sick of Facebook.

[–]MrDudeMan12 -5 points-4 points ago

Meh, pretty unoriginal. I think a lot of 9th graders that took english after 2006 probably did this as part of their assignment.

[–]dcgi -4 points-3 points ago

Ugh, hipster "art".
