I never confirmed it but I believe he is the head of our University's Technology or Biology department. The video was shot from one of the buildings on Campus that overlooks that road.

In fairness to the driver he was probably in a lot of shock, he just hit a guy, that at that point in time wasn't sure if he was dead or not (he survived btw). In those situations I feel like It would be difficult to think straight, amongst the chaos of the situation. For some humans when they go into shock their brain and body panics and shuts down.

I'm not defending the driver by any means, he should have been paying much more attention when he was pulling out of that parking lot but at the same time I park in the exact same parking lot for my classes and it's is a shitty lot to pull out of. It exits onto a very busy road and the road curves a bit right near the exit so it is sometimes hard to see oncoming traffic, especially a motorcyclist who was speeding (the cop clocked him at 15 over the limit).

The entire thing was just a bad situation for everyone and unfortunately it caused an accident, the comforting thing is knowing the people in my town are brave enough to work together to lift a burning car, putting themselves in extreme danger to save another human's life, if it weren't for those people that kid could have easily died.
