Who's a good boy? Who's a good Boy? Who's gonna enslave mankind? Yes you will, yes you will.

[–]1d3333 7 points8 points ago

Quick! To the cat mobile!

[–]treebrah 0 points1 point ago

i always thought this was real. the vacation pics are clearly cgi though

:(

[–]GeneralCheese 0 points1 point ago

The first picture is, the rest is fake.

[–]smartalbert 7 points8 points ago

maintaining the head alive = real. robot= fake. still it makes me think, something like that should be doable with today's technology, kept alive for longer than a few minutes. If my body was totally destroyed except my head i would like to have it detached from my body and maintained alive. could still surf the internet with a mouse operated by eyesight.

[–]bewer 3 points4 points ago

That technology will be common in a thousand years or so

[–]Frantic_Child 0 points1 point ago

More like a hundred.

[–]gonosis 0 points1 point ago

he was most likely referencing Futurama, which takes place in the 3000s. In that universe, heads are kept alive in jars with relative ease.

[–]Frantic_Child -1 points0 points ago

Well then he should have said "will be common in nine-hundred and eighty-eight years or so".

"What's that girl? You say Timmy defied the state?"

[–]Imagine_This 2 points3 points ago

"Stalin what are you up to?" "We're going to build a cyborg dog that may corrupt the country if we don't contain it right after the war. Nothing much. You?" "uh.... I'm.... Gonna send a man to the (mumble mumble) moon...."

[–]IzeeZLO 10 points11 points ago

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology.

[–]Koreolis 2 points3 points ago

We have the capability to build the world's first bionic dog.

[–]TheDoctorAndTardis 2 points3 points ago

He is the 196,932,600 ruble dog.

[–]Purecheetodust 12 points13 points ago

I, for one, welcome our canine overlords.

[–]countlazypenis 1 point2 points ago

Just skimmed over it but this looks like the soviet experiment of bringing living organisms to life (the dog head bit anyway) I've heard that that they successfully brought a dogs head back to life.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

They didn't, it was faked during a period when the US and Soviet Russia were in big competition with each other over scientific and technological development.

[–]countlazypenis 0 points1 point ago

Ah, thank you for clarifying this.

[–]IDCh 1 point2 points ago

Somehow this clip fits here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pcA2JdQGs0 It's from one of russian idm-electro musicians who was in prison making music and interesting videos with his music. This one uses scenes from soviet science-fiction movie.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

the headless dog remaining alive is for real. The robot/cyborg thing? I'm not so sure, but the russians and americans tried to keep a headless body alive and the russians succeeded with a dog.

[–]UrbanToiletShrimp 3 points4 points ago

The dog head thing supposedly happened, but is very questionable and could have been easily faked. The robot body is clearly fake. This however is nightmarishly real. http://www.vice.com/motherboard/dr-white-s-total-body-transplant-1-of-2

[–]clutchperformer 1 point2 points ago

This is most likely one of the USSR disinformation campaigns. Think of it as Trolling, except on an international espionage scale during the cold war.

Much in the way the US goal was to bankrupt the USSR by making them meet the US "bomber gap" and "missile gap", the Soviets planted all kinds of this pseudoscience crap on turncoats and double agents to freak the US analysts out.

Sometime it worked.

[–]nonnarB 1 point2 points ago

Every time I see this I just think of We3.

[–]breakinthelaw88 1 point2 points ago

I'm guessing this is when the Russians sent a dog up into space? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Its Nixon's dog.

[–]Nexod1 1 point2 points ago

Idk if this was already posted but...

[–]mosesonaquasar 0 points1 point ago

We're gonna need a translation stat..

[–]blackt1de 0 points1 point ago

Big Dog Daddy.

[–]sweYoda 0 points1 point ago

It's an X-file.

[–]emohipster 0 points1 point ago

Ah yes, the Lassie-mechanov 5000. A pristine piece of Soviet technology.

[–]erosPhoenix 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, the end of the Cold War hit the soviets hard.

[–]brningpyre 0 points1 point ago

Sweet.

[–]purplecobra 0 points1 point ago

This is as cruel as it is incredible cool.

[–]DaBongler 0 points1 point ago

You know Shit has gotten real when the dogs in mech suits get unleashed.

[–]youjusreadmyusername 0 points1 point ago

Avatar... the glory days.

[–]SpammityCalamity 0 points1 point ago

You know, I don't doubt this.

There's a professor at my university that's around in his late 50's to early 60's, and he defected from the KGB in the eighties.

He teaches anatomy and physiology and would comment about the horrible stuff he saw overt here in terms of biological experiments, especially on dogs. I was kind of looking for a short young guy in that pic....

/not to mention he addressed us as "Comrades!" //blamed everything that went wrong in the classroom on the KBG plot to find and extradite him back

[–]theace01 0 points1 point ago

WTF Russia

[–]chrissymonster 0 points1 point ago

"Central Nervous System" is all I got out of that. Srsly ... WTH.

[–]Havoklord 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit!? Didn't Metallica make a song about this, only they made zombies to attack the USA?

[–]cottonheadedninnymug 0 points1 point ago

That's Russia for you.

[–]TrolLCD 0 points1 point ago

Man's best friend in russia

[–]katakathy 0 points1 point ago

SO, did they end up doing it? Did they end up succeeding in their attempts to make this dog/machine?

[–]lqpl 0 points1 point ago

Russia's further along that I thought! Or maybe this is just propaganda to scare us?

[–]Usamatic 0 points1 point ago

Reminds me of the fish robot in mega mind lol...except it ha the head of a dog.

[–]Russian_Bear2011 0 points1 point ago

Good old Soviet Engeneering =)

[–]ChampionBeef 0 points1 point ago

repost

[–]terrible0ne 0 points1 point ago

i think they got it working

[–]discopanda123 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of that robot from zathura

[–]t0wn 0 points1 point ago

The only thing WTF about this is that it still gets posted. And upvoted.

[–]Pandorasbox64 -1 points0 points ago

I really really hope this experiment was real, I don't care if it worked. I just think it would be funny to actually know there were people out there serious enough to try this.

[–]PhillipPriddy 19 points20 points ago

OH NO!! TIMMY'S STUCK IN THAT BURNING BARN!!

BLASTERS ACTIVATED

[–]Valkeryy 0 points1 point ago

Timmy was never a barn person...

[–]MPSDragline 0 points1 point ago

I know the part about keeping a dogs head animated on machines was, not so sure about the robot.

[–]Spongi 0 points1 point ago

I've read the history of those head transplant experiments. They were pretty successful, especially considering the era.

It's my hope they'll pick up the research at some point and it'll be a step towards human immortality.

[–]hwkns -3 points-2 points ago

Very serious WTF. Brilliant find.

[–]NumberOneBrony -1 points0 points ago

what in the flying fuck?

[–]used_bathwater -1 points0 points ago

This is creepy as fuck.

[–]SirTojo -1 points0 points ago

Very real indeed. Saw something about an american doctor who did head transplants with monkeys and there was alot footage from the sovjet's doing the same with dogs trying to send them to space.

[–]captaintmane -1 points0 points ago

Dafuq?

[–]civilian11214 -1 points0 points ago

One of the most reposted things on this bitch. Fuck you, cancer.

[–]Thevents -2 points-1 points ago

Can't stop laughing, but seriously...WTF?
