Nice looking cat.

[–]midsummerowl 0 points1 point ago

agree ^

[–]koalaburr 10 points11 points ago

I believe it's an Egyptian Mau. Beautiful cats.

[–]sfcjohn 5 points6 points ago

All cats should be worshiped and not washed. They wash themselves which is why they were chosen for Godhood.

[–]cutekatzchen 0 points1 point ago

Couldn't agree more!

[–]butt_ruckers 0 points1 point ago

unless of course they get into the potted plants again... bombs away in the bathtub time.

[–]junyy 1 point2 points ago

My bet is on a silver bengal, looks alot like mine in the facial bone structure.

[–]koalaburr -1 points0 points ago

That makes sense. The face of a Mau looks more like a Burmese or Siamese. This is much cuter. :)

[–]Nicely_Cooked_Tamale 0 points1 point ago

Mau spots are on the surface.

[–]zhaoseph[S] 14 points15 points ago

It is an american shorthair, and here are some more photos!

[–]ivyydu 2 points3 points ago

so cute!

[–]zhaoseph[S] 1 point2 points ago

Thanks!

Glad you like it!

[–]sad_grumpzilla 12 points13 points ago

What breed is this?

[–]poofish 29 points30 points ago

this looks like a silver (marbled?) bengal kitty to me. Source: my sister's silver marbled bengal kitty: http://i.imgur.com/ZMHaK.jpg

LOOK AT THE FEETSIES.

[–]BigB68 7 points8 points ago

Full derp.

[–]salt_addict 0 points1 point ago

Never go full derp.

[–]sirinah 2 points3 points ago

i didn't know this variation of bengal existed! my neighbor has a boring regular one. I am in love!

[–]poofish 16 points17 points ago

here are more pictures (shamelessly borrowed) of my sister's kitties to feed your new obsession!

[–]MayorMair 2 points3 points ago

that last pic is fucking awesome.. they're laying in the same damn position

[–]MasterA6 1 point2 points ago

The third one is a kitty yin yang.

[–]Space_Cranberry 0 points1 point ago

That's a nice-looking cat. Seriously.

[–]Lamingtons 1 point2 points ago

nothing boring about any kind of bengal! (said with massive bias to my own non-silver bengal)

[–]sirinah 7 points8 points ago

I'm just bitter because I can't have cats :(

[–]ZexCo 0 points1 point ago

It's most likely rosetted, the marble one you showed in the picture doesn't have the spots on the belly. My rosetted Bengal has spots on his belly

[–]madcow575 0 points1 point ago

Yep, it looks exactly like my silver bengal, except mine is a little bigger now and has some gold mixed in with this silver now.

[–]ParallelParadox 1 point2 points ago

It's probably an egyptian mau.

[–]wellhushmypuppies 6 points7 points ago

omg. so freakin' cute my head just exploded.

[–]wick220 13 points14 points ago

Dat fur.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

like some wet droopy spots.

[–]Tbith 10 points11 points ago

Dem spots.

[–]Nethervex 3 points4 points ago

is it weird if i compliment on your cats belly? because i like his spotted belly. im gonna stop saying belly now.

[–]YaksOnFire 8 points9 points ago

Beautiful kitty.

[–]Caliswift 25 points26 points ago

I really don't understand, who bathes cats? Even the ASPCA doesn't say you need to unless they are excessively dirty. What is it that makes you think this is necessary? Obviously they don't like it.

[–]2bass 20 points21 points ago

I've only bathed my cat once, and that was because he managed to crawl inside our wall...It was not a pleasant experience for either of us.

[–]PandaC 24 points25 points ago

I can top that one.
My daughter walked in on me while I was taking a dump. I jumped to close the door so the cats don't come in, but it was too late. She ran back out and as I closed the door, one of my cats tried to jump on the seat, which was not covered.

Piss and shit splashed everywhere, which freaked my cat so she proceeded to try to run away. I grabbed her, covering my self in it too. It was the most unpleasant experience of my life.

[Edit] ugh... Why does this feel like an accomplishment....

[–]WoolyWombatWinking 5 points6 points ago

Okay, I've got to ask. Can ANYBODY top that?

[–]ItsLeviooosa 3 points4 points ago

Same here. The only time I've ever given a cat a bath was when our white kitten got into some oil in the garage and had it all over her. We figured it would be bad for her skin. I wore gardening gloves.

[–]2bass 4 points5 points ago

Our house is fairly old, so I just didn't want him licking at the dust and whatever else he managed to drag out on his fur. Unfortunately, that meant not being able to wait until my boyfriend got home to be able to help me.

[–]Caliswift 1 point2 points ago

Again that makes sense.

[–]Caliswift -1 points0 points ago

Now that makes sense.

[–]halfascoolashansolo 56 points57 points ago

unless they are excessively dirty.

There's your answer...

[–]Caliswift -4 points-3 points ago

Can you put criteria around what you thought was classified as excessively dirty? I've never done it and have had cats my whole life. Is it an outside cat?

[–]dxrebirth 39 points40 points ago

My cat once got locked in a garage with oil and gunk and dirt everywhere. She smelled really bad and it would have probably been unsafe for her to clean herself. There you fucking go.

[–]Shadefox 5 points6 points ago

From the time I was 1 year to 13 years old, I lived in a house directly next to my fathers hydraulic repair business. At any one time, there could be 3-5 heavy machinery around the house, with all the grease and oil included.

Our cat, probably once a month or so, would make a mistake and get covered in grease or something else just as bad.

You can bet that we gave her baths. Despite the constant cars coming and going, she lived to be 21...

And thinking back, I realise that we never actually gave her a name. Unless you count 'Black Cat', or BC for short.

[–]natiice -1 points0 points ago

I've never bathed my cat and she's a long haired persian who has always been an outdoor cat so she can get crazy dirty. She always sufficiently cleans herself probably better than I could have.

EDIT: Got downvoted for sharing my opinion and contributing to the thread? cool

[–]halfascoolashansolo -1 points0 points ago

I was quoting you. What did you think was excessive?

[–]Pocketonion 7 points8 points ago

My cat fails to understand the concept of cleaning oneself so he needs to be bathed to get the caked on shit out of his ass... That and mat control since they're outside cats.

[–]Caliswift 6 points7 points ago

Outside cat with shitty ass syndrome, that seems totally reasonable.

[–]Shadowmoth 7 points8 points ago

My Bengal had diarrhea once and managed to get it on her tail and on her back legs. she freaked out about having poo on her and ran like a lightning bolt across the house, getting poo on everything. she got a bath that day, and I got scratched bloody. beyond poo I haven't had a reason to bathe my indoor kitty.

[–]deannapolis 15 points16 points ago

Sometimes they get really dirty and smell weird, especially when they are kittens and get into everything. And about cats not liking baths, mine did. I think if you start them out young they don't mind, it's just the spray of water that irks them a bit.

[–]snowbirdie 6 points7 points ago

It's quite breed-specific, actually. Some breeds are not afarid of water at all.

[–]deannapolis 4 points5 points ago

Really? I didn't know that. My friend's cat sits on the sink and waits for someone to turn on the water for her. Very odd but cute.

[–]salt_addict 0 points1 point ago

Aw. I want to see a video of that.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]salt_addict 2 points3 points ago

Do you know where you are right now?

[–]manicpoohbear 5 points6 points ago

When he was young, my husband had a cat that would go for a dip in the neighbor's pool. Neighborhood cats would line up on the fence and watch him like he was some kind of demon. He also rode the vacuum (full size one, not the roomba), so he just may have been special.

[–]neon_overload 0 points1 point ago

Do they prefer warm water to cold?

[–]deannapolis 0 points1 point ago

I usually keep it warm. Good question though.... I've always wondered if they preferred warm to cold.

[–]Chicken-n-Waffles 5 points6 points ago

My kitten had excessive fleas to where her gums were turning a very light pink and a bath with flea shampoo was the only way to A) kill all the goddamn fleas sucking her blood, and B) make sure those goddamn fleas were dead.

[–]linlorienelen 0 points1 point ago

The worst part about washing a flea-covered cat/kitten is trying to keep the piles of fleas from running into their eyes and ears. :( Still makes me shiver.

[–]Chicken-n-Waffles 1 point2 points ago

flea comb. Then I drowned the fuckers. So glad Advantage came out cause that was the end forever. She never had a flea.

[–]linlorienelen 0 points1 point ago

Advantage and Frontline are wizardry. So awesome.

[–]Caliswift -2 points-1 points ago

I think that to apply medication or remove fleas is a valid reason to bathe a cat. But otherwise?

[–]Chicken-n-Waffles 1 point2 points ago

I've always been a cat whisperer (so to say) - always the one to calm them, catch them, administer medicine and the flea problem was a definite bath solution.

Even when cats are just under the house filthy dirty, they always will clean themselves. I remember giving an older cat of mine a bath years ago but I can't remember why because it was that experience that gave me the confidence to bathe my flea ridden kitty.

[–]salt_addict 0 points1 point ago

Long haired cat plus diarrhea. shudders at the memories

[–][deleted] ago

[–]Caliswift 0 points1 point ago

I have a cat right next to me that I have not bathed since I adopted it 9 years ago. I can't smell anything. Can you describe the smell? Is it male? Outside cat?

[–]cant_be_pun_seen 12 points13 points ago

maybe you adopted a stuffed cat and youve never known it.. has it ever moved?

[–]Caliswift 4 points5 points ago

Err, umm no.

[–]punkyredhead 1 point2 points ago

Bathing your cat is also based off of your individual cat. My cat Murphie she LOVES th water she comes running when she hears the shower so our vet says its ok for kitties as long as they get dry and you watch it if water gets in their ears.

[–]comarose 0 points1 point ago

I've got a Burmese that loves a bit of water - His Nibs enjoys the shower.

[–]godin_sdxt 1 point2 points ago

On the other hand, that could be entirely normal.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]godin_sdxt 4 points5 points ago

And you wouldn't think to maybe take her to the vet? Not keeping up with their regular self-cleaning is the first sign of illness.

[–]frozenfade 1 point2 points ago

I have a cat who likes to get in the shower. It started when he wanted to what the hell was going on in the shower and then fell in.

[–]Howzitgoin 1 point2 points ago

I bathe my cat from time to time. He has pretty long fur and every now and then he'll get shit caked in there and rather than having him leave skid marks on the carpet, or curling up on my furniture smelling like shit I give him a bath.

The only other time I really give him a bath is after we visit my parents because where they live theres a heavy population of fleas and their dog sometimes tracks them in (I put flea medication on him prior to going there) and I'd rather not have them all over my apartment.

He also seems to enjoy the water once he's in it for a minute or two. Either that or he just gives up.

[–]snowbirdie -5 points-4 points ago

Unless you have a breed that enjoys water, the entire process is unnecessary and unhealthy for them. They can get sick, they have huge amount of stress. If your cat is covered in shit, just take a damp cloth and gently pat it down.

I think people just think that because humans take baths, that other animals need to as well since they often substitute their pet for a child. These are the types of people posting on here that their cat is experiencing some human emotion.

[–]Space_Cranberry 11 points12 points ago

Sigh. Really, your Expertise at Catology and Pet Owner Psychology is condescending. People raise their children as they want, as they do their pets. As they do their goddamn azalea bushes. It will not kill the cat.

Think it's more hygienic for the cat and the family to have shit wiped off instead of scrubbed off? The cat's guts may be able to digest fecal pathogens, but who knows if the drooling, touching, and chewing toddler's guts can?

My cat is black and white. I've bathed him a few times in his entire life. Know what? He looks much whiter after the scrub down.

Your cat is not my cat. Or anyone else's cat for that matter.

[–]salt_addict 4 points5 points ago

hear hear

[–]comarose 0 points1 point ago

Careful, there are pedants about.

[–]natiice -1 points0 points ago

Cats were made to clean themselves

[–]MonaJR 5 points6 points ago

Looks a lot like our Egyptian Mau (his name is Tim Mclovin)! Very affectionate cats :-)

[–]greatestmanalive 5 points6 points ago

"Don't bathe me bro!"

[–]destynovalovesflan 1 point2 points ago

squeeeeee tummy spots!!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Aw. Its weird tho, I heard that Bengal cats have the reputation of actually enjoying water.

[–]Lamingtons 2 points3 points ago

Mine loves water she can control. Her water bowl never lasts long before she has tipped it all over the floor and bounded through it. If there is a tap on, her head will go under it. If you try to take a shower with the door closed, she will scream blue murder. Full submersion, however, has never been well recieved.

[–]ZexCo 1 point2 points ago

Some do, some don't.. You will find Savannah's are the ones that generally enjoy water a lot more

[–]Nanyea 1 point2 points ago

I think he just wants to keep his eats dry, he doesn't look panicked or upset about being wet... Very cute

[–]louisaahh 2 points3 points ago

Woah. Do want.

[–]Sacrosanction 1 point2 points ago

"Don't bathe me bro!"

[–]PenisFlame 0 points1 point ago

I don't want to be creepy but, I would have sex with that cat.

[–]greenvelvetcake 36 points37 points ago

I believe you have failed at the former and I hope you will fail at the latter.

[–]IMREALWHAT_R_U 0 points1 point ago

What kind of kitty is this?

[–]Frausto7 0 points1 point ago

"Ive seen things... so many bubbles...."

[–]babeecakes 0 points1 point ago

What a pretty cat! Which breed? Anyone know?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

It's a silver Bengal cat :)

[–]gimmeyourtots 0 points1 point ago

Too late.

[–]sireslap1 0 points1 point ago

So...does anyone know why domesticated cats hate water? I have heard that cats who live in hot climates actually do like water (as long as they can enter it on their own accord) and those who live in colder climates generally don't like it under any circumstances. C'mon Reddit, I know yall must be cat experts based on the front page every day...ideas?

[–]corran__horn 0 points1 point ago

It really depends on the cat and the water temperature. Some cats like all water, some like warm water, and some just stick their head under the tap while they drink.

[–]sireslap1 0 points1 point ago

I guess that makes sence. After all, one of by brothers dogs (a huge dane-boxer mix) was a complete coward when it came to water...and the other one (who looked like a German shepherd except like 1/10th the size) didn't seem to mind water at all.

[–]De4thDoll 0 points1 point ago

OMG!!! this cat is soo beautiful!!!

[–]dogsgonewild10 0 points1 point ago

More like please feed me!

[–]ChloeMonster 0 points1 point ago

I love your kitty's color and markings

[–]M33Pmeep 0 points1 point ago

Hey look, it's longcat's younger brother.

[–]danbuddy 0 points1 point ago

Sorry, but you obviously have spots that need to come off. Bath time!

[–]Rilgin 0 points1 point ago

The eyes are peering into my soul. Don't give this cat a bath. :c

[–]jamesdavid80 0 points1 point ago

:) cool cat,

[–]friendzoneboy 0 points1 point ago

i totally thought this was a giraffe at first, judging from the thumbnail.

[–]iiiitsjess 0 points1 point ago

Awh so cute! And ooooh I like your bathroom! :)

[–]ultimatemuffin 0 points1 point ago

The real title for this post should have been "Don't Bathe me Bro!"

[–]Ashmuz 0 points1 point ago

Love those big brown eyes, awwww

[–]HighGuy92 0 points1 point ago

Its eyes are freaking me out, otherwise, a very nice looking cat.

[–]Sarahbukhari 0 points1 point ago

That is a beautiful cat :,D

[–]jatznic 0 points1 point ago

I'm fairly sure that's an Ocicat, but I could be wrong ^

[–]Masaurmi 0 points1 point ago

The spinal cord seems to be very long, but it still seems like a very cute kitty cat that loves the faucet.

[–]jersey_banz 0 points1 point ago

It is a Silver Spotted Bengal Cat. It looks like the Mau but the markings on the head are different and the spots are darker. This one specifically looks like mine from when she was a kitten.

[–]PowderedDeerPenis 0 points1 point ago

Throw it in

[–]lifeisadream 0 points1 point ago

Soon.......

[–]KingTsu 0 points1 point ago

Why do people bathe cats?

[–]illossolli 0 points1 point ago

that is the most adorable fucking face ever

[–]burst_bagpipe 0 points1 point ago

I would rather bathe some barb wire than bathe my cats. Less pain, slashing and swearing.

[–]thai_lur 0 points1 point ago

I want a cat that doesn't hate water!

[–]Beiki 0 points1 point ago

I've seen somethings man and some stuff. I wouldn't recommend it.

[–]eKtoR 0 points1 point ago

That's one good looking son of a pussy!!!

[–]SFXBTPD -1 points0 points ago

why do you need to give it a bath cats keep themselves relatively clean anyways

[–]neon_overload 3 points4 points ago

If they get something on them that would not be good for them if they licked it.

Like the other comment somewhere about a kitty who got motor oil on him.

[–]Meow-schwitz -2 points-1 points ago

Giving that thing a shower? It's like Meow-shwitz in here.

[–]MrBahhum -1 points0 points ago

It's like this cat is looking into my soul. Someone mentioned it's a breed of Bengal, usually the more of a predictor the cat is will only add more depths to their eyes.

[–]MericaFsckYeah -1 points0 points ago

OH! ANTHROPOMORPHISM! BLEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHH!
