Never thought I could relate to a shell-less Zoidberg, but miracles happen.

[–]kiwiness 36 points37 points ago

Or when you get to strip down completely on a hot day! Wheeee!

[–]nepidae 16 points17 points ago

The best part about having your own place to live.

Of course if I ever lived with roommates again, I think they would just have to deal with that <_<

[–]StoryGopher 25 points26 points ago

I live with my boyfriend and he avidly encourages nudity.

[–]kiwiness 6 points7 points ago

I have a roommate, we have our own rooms though! Couldn't imagine sharing a room with someone ever again.

[–]MtCocoa 18 points19 points ago

Best feeling in the world. On par with being able to strip naked when nobody's home. Ultimate freedom.

[–]EmersonWolfe 16 points17 points ago

I never thought there would be a gif to describe this feeling.

[–]suzanneeeee 5 points6 points ago

bra-off time is the best time of the day.

[–]the_pissed_off_goose 7 points8 points ago

free boobin' is the best feeling

[–]undercurrents 43 points44 points ago

I always wonder if people who say this are buying bras that don't fit. I rarely take mine off, I even sleep in it, because I find it much more uncomfortable without it on, but you shouldn't even notice it is on if your bra fits right. Or I guess size might make a difference as well.

[–]cydril 66 points67 points ago

Its just a matter of opinion really. Every time someone complains they don't like wearing bras there's always an onslaught of 'Well are you sure it fits right??' Its just uncomfortable for some people.

I don't like wearing shoes much either, no one asks me if i'm sure they are the right size ;)

[–]undercurrents 19 points20 points ago

ha, I like that metaphor

[–]FluffyPillowstone 9 points10 points ago

This is correct. Boobs (and women) come in all shapes and sizes. I think a person with a B cup is going to be much more comfortable in a bra than a person with F cups. Also the shape of your ribcage can change how your boobs sit in a bra and how bras sit on you. There are too many variables to just say "if you're uncomfortable you're not wearing the right bra". Sometimes the most comfortable bra is no bra.

[–]yammerade 8 points9 points ago

Although I agree that all women are different in terms of how their breasts are most comfortable, I disagree with your theory that small breasts are probably much more comfortable than large breasts in a bra. I have relatively large breasts and I can't stand not having a bra on because they are so heavy that their own weight makes them hurt like hell if they're unsupported.

[–]mizunocaitlin 6 points7 points ago

Small breasted woman here and I agree. I only wear a bra to hide nipples, really. Bras do nothing for me support wise because there's nothing to support. In the summer, it's easier and more comfortable to go without. In the winter, at least they're an extra layer? I suppose? Also, my breasts completely disappear if I lay down or lean the wrong way. Suddenly empty bras are indeed uncomfortable and extra pointless.

[–]PetitMinou 2 points3 points ago

I went off the pill last year and my boobs shrunk a cup size and a half. Now, for the first time ever I can go outside bra-less. It's AWESOME!!!!!! Especially on super hot, humid days. Less clothing is always more comfortable.

[–]gayfatnerd 0 points1 point ago

I'm so jealous.

[–]PetitMinou 1 point2 points ago

X-)

[–]inlovewiththeworld 2 points3 points ago

I have large breasts, and I only really feel comfortable in a bra. I have back pain either way, but without a bra I get the added discomfort of floppy breasts. (That's physical discomfort, not mental; if I know you well enough that you're seeing me without a bra, I don't care if you see my breasts being floppy.) When I don't have a bra on I find myself unconsciously folding my arms under my breasts to hold them up and hold them still.

[–]yammerade 1 point2 points ago

Or the awkward hands sort of under your armpits and making an arm/hand bra sort of thing.

I'm always glad for advice on bras, since I have such a hard time finding decent ones. Lately I've been wearing Enell sports bras all the time because it's so hard to find a regular bra that doesn't give me tendinitis. (It really scared me the first time it happened; until I went to the doctor, I thought I might be getting carpal tunnel.)

I actually checked out the sizing information on that subreddit the other day, and according to that I should be wearing a 32G! (A huge difference from the 36D I usually wear.) I'm not sure how to test it though, since I doubt odd sizes like that are available to try on in stores; I'm reluctant to order one online, because in addition to not knowing if the size will fit, I have weird-shaped breasts that don't work with every bra. Normally I'd just order a few and send back the ones that didn't fit, but the ones I've found in that size are all much too expensive for me to buy several at once.

[–]lunahlove 0 points1 point ago

I wear the right cup-size (also an F-cup, btw). It still is uncomfortable. And also, every time I lie down or lie on my side, one or both boobs fall out of the cup. Bra comes off at the first opportunity.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]lunahlove 0 points1 point ago

My boob doesn't float. When I lie on my side or lean over, it will fall out. I am wearing the correct cup size. I've been professionally measured twice, and measured myself several times.

[–]psyne 1 point2 points ago

Love the shoe comparison, especially since I'm the same. I think I'm just kind of sensitive to tactile things, and things like bras and shoes are very restricting (or sometimes get sweaty on hot days and add to the discomfort).

[–]technicolorparadise 55 points56 points ago

Properly fitted bras, though freaking WONDERFUL and the best I've ever felt while wearing a bra, are still restrictive. I need a LOT of band support and, hey, that kinda means digging into my back fat a little bit.
After a long day, it really is heaven to let those puppies free.

Side note, sleeping in your bras really speeds up their...deterioration process, so to speak. If you're not purchasing expensive bras, then hey, whatever's most comfortable for you! But I've got to buy mine from specialty lingerie stores; I can't afford to reduce their lifespan any more than I can help it, they're so expensive.

[–]creamcoco 69 points70 points ago

For a second I was horrified because I thought you meant the breast's deterioration process... Sheesh!

[–]OM4E098 7 points8 points ago

I read it as this too and thought oh fuck, I'm doomed.

[–]psiphre 4 points5 points ago

well, that too.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points ago

If I sleep in a bra, I usually buy the cheap cloth sports ones at the big box store. I use them until they're worn out, which isn't long, but it works fairly well. I find sleeping in underwire uncomfortable, personally. And I've had one break in my sleep, too...that was a fun wake-up.

But sleeping without any bra really does feel more comfortable.

[–]gemcitytiffany 5 points6 points ago

Heh I'm laying in bed in my sports bra right now! I buy the expensive sports bras because I'm a DD and I'm pretty active. Maybe it's because I get the expensive ones, but I find them hella supportive and seems like when I wash them, they shrink up and feel like new almost every time. Of course, they wear out eventually, but not like the cheap ones do.

[–]Nivardica 1 point2 points ago

I recently got actually fitted for a bra size and I went up two cup sizes. Never felt more FREEEEEEEE.

[–]Larillia 9 points10 points ago

My boobs disagree with each other on what size they should be, so no matter what one of them is always unhappy with the situation.

[–]pinot_gringo 1 point2 points ago

Ha ha! Love this. Me too but I've never heard it put that way. Makes me feel slightly better - I'm not deformed, I just have argumentative boobs.

[–]Antije[S] 21 points22 points ago

I've been sized a handful of times so I'm pretty sure it's the right size. It's not that I'm uncomfotable it's more like this.

Edit: Also bras are not really 'good' (I use that term loosely) for your boobs.

[–]technicolorparadise 14 points15 points ago

Also bras are not really 'good' (I use that term loosely) for your boobs.

Yes and no? It depends on what you mean.
Once the breast connective tissue has been stretched, there's no going back, and they will sag more and more over time. That makes it important, especially during exercise, to keep them supported correctly. (Underwire sports bras, gals!)
However you're right in that bras don't reverse the effects of already stretched connective tissue.

[–]QuadFermented 4 points5 points ago

Not that I'm doubting you, but you do you happen to have a source for this, or it based only on experience? It would be nice to end the "does a bra keep breasts from sagging" controversy once and for all, and this makes a lot of sense.

[–]technicolorparadise 2 points3 points ago

I don't have anything better than wikipedia at the moment, but here ya go!

[–]Elkcan 0 points1 point ago

There was a question on /r/askscience a few months ago about possible deformation from sleeping on your boobs, but the top comment by 1o_01 had some information on this.

Breast sagging, or ptosis, has not been significantly linked with sleeping on your stomach. A 2010 study concluded that "age, history of significant (>50 lbs) weight loss, higher body mass index, larger bra cup size, number of pregnancies, and smoking history were found to be significant risk factors for breast ptosis".

Additionally, bra-wearing has been deemed useful for exercise, but it has been reported that no medical evidence exists to confirm that regular bra-wearing prevents sagging.

[–]gemcitytiffany 2 points3 points ago

I can think of about a thousand things I'd rather do than wear an underwire sports bra. I don't even think I knew that was a thing. I buy expensive, very well fitted sports bras that seem to do me fine. I'm an active gal and I feel like my boobs are well supported in my non-underwire bras even at DD.

[–]technicolorparadise 0 points1 point ago

I have always had way too much bounce for a regular sports bra to do anything for me. I can layer it on top of my underwire sports bra for extra compression, but that's about it. However, I'm a couple full cup sizes larger than you, soooo....yep. It sucks. I prefer it to flopping around, though.

[–]tikitori 6 points7 points ago

I only find this true with sport bras or bras that are too big for me. I've been fitted with an amazing bra that works wonders for my boobs, but I always feel completely relaxed when it's off.

Please tell us what brand is this wonderbra you sleep with

[–]undercurrents 0 points1 point ago

Just any underwire, not any one in particular. I don't even notice I have them on. But I'm less comfortable when it gets all sweaty and sticky underneath, and I find myself moving around more in bed when I'm braless to get in a comfortable position because I sleep on my side and my stomach. I just never understood seeing it as "freedom" like the OP said, that makes me think of someone wearing a bodyshaper, or nylons, or heels or something far more restrictive like that. But I wear jeans and a t shirt to work and spend most of the day barefoot, so maybe I'd be more relieved to strip down if I spent all day not being able to breath or stand flat on my feet.

[–]Rolling_In_The_Derp 2 points3 points ago

This. I also sleep in my bra and have never thought of it as a big deal. I feel incredibly...well, naked without a bra on even for the few minutes before I go to sleep. But I also wear jeans and tshirts 24/7 so pajamas aren't much of a stretch.

[–]Bethurz 0 points1 point ago

...what do you work as?

[–]i_love_younicorns 3 points4 points ago

If I could pull it off, I would never wear a bra.

[–]Jennysuewoaclue87 4 points5 points ago

Oh me too! I'm hoping I get lucky and lose a couple cup sizes in my journey to get fit.

[–]meermeermeer 2 points3 points ago

Perhaps there isn't the perfect bra for every body.

[–]maybethistimeiwin 1 point2 points ago

I agree. I have DDs and I much prefer having a bra at all times. Sometimes I'll switch it up for say, a yoga bra, but I need something keeping the girls in. I even need one during sex sometimes because I find it so uncomfortable if they are just swinging around.

[–]Vivaciousqt 1 point2 points ago

I have a large bust, im properly fitted. Yet the moment i take off that bra, the heavens have aligned and i'm free.

[–]ninz 1 point2 points ago

Nope, it's just much more comfortable without one. I generally don't wear one if I can get away with it. I'm a 32B (yes, had my size checked at a real lingerie store) so the support is really only necessary when I'm exercising :)

[–]SocksAndKittens 0 points1 point ago

I have a bony protrusion (I assume it's my xiphoid) right in between my breasts where the center of a bra's bone rests. I can wear a bra for a few hours without it bothering me, sometimes, but it eventually starts to get to me.

I really need to find bone-less bras that are comfortable and actually provide a minimal amount of support. =/ Right now I just layer camis with shelf bras under most of my clothes but sometimes that makes me look too flat.

[–]EmilieDuChatelet 0 points1 point ago

I felt this way too until I went from a 32A/B to a 32DD. Now I love taking off my bra.

[–]caecilia -1 points0 points ago

Underwires.

[–]magic_mermaids -1 points0 points ago

Same, maybe it's because I don't have big breasts but I always wear my bra. It doesn't feel restrictive at all... I've seen a lot of other posts/comments like this post and I just don't get it.

[–]SpeedyTheMongoose 14 points15 points ago

Dude here. I've never worn a bra, but I suspect that this sensation is even better than when I immediately put on pajama pants after getting home from work every day.

[–]Antije[S] 8 points9 points ago

Imagine having to wear a padded testicle holder all day (maybe one with an underwire that keeps the boys all pert and lovely), then getting home taking it off and feeling that sweet sweet fresh air caress your sack. It's kinda like that.

[–]girrrrrrr2 4 points5 points ago

So wearing jeans all day long... with no way to itch, and you finally get that first itch of the day?

[–]Vivaciousqt 5 points6 points ago

Similar feeling, but yes better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I think changing into comfy pants is way more satisfying than my evening bra removal. I don't usually take off my bra when I might leave the house again, but if I'm home for more than an hour I'm definitely changing my pants.

[–]booker9 2 points3 points ago

haha when I come home I take my bra off and immediately put on a cotton sports bra... I never walk around with no support

[–]name2invalid 2 points3 points ago

I slip into a good sports bra after a long day of work. It feels glorious.

[–]Anaktoria 2 points3 points ago

For real! I wear a lot of dresses and pencil skirts that require nylons and Spanx. Ahhhh.

[–]BatMasterson5 2 points3 points ago

Oh I totally know how this feels as I wear a sports bra to work (construction electrician) so the girls are as out of the way as possible. When I finally get that bad boy off, it's fucking amazing.

[–]imotep 1 point2 points ago

They're loose! The girls are loose!

[–]keelhe 1 point2 points ago

Other than for sexytime and showers, I'm pretty much in a bra 24/7 because of boob pain from the lack of support. I can't even fathom what it would be like to sport DDs (although I certainly wouldn't mind finding out). Ouch.

[–]bbrianagnar 0 points1 point ago

I even hate taking the thing off for sexy times. The support helps haha

[–]Vivaciousqt 1 point2 points ago

I rarely upvote anything, but this made me laugh out loud.

Best feeling!

[–]not_poko 1 point2 points ago

I'm so this. Sometimes I shout 'free boobies!' when I take it off.

I wonder if I'm a 12 year old boy trapped in a woman's body.

Edit: left out words.

[–]WizardofAud 1 point2 points ago

I work at different Renaissance Festivals throughout the year. This is me at the end of the day when I take my bodice or corset off.

[–]NannaK 1 point2 points ago

I have seen this so many times today and every time it cracks me up. THIS made my day. Thank you. (Currently finally bra-less and loving it).

[–]bliss01 1 point2 points ago

This made me laugh out loud. Kudos. X

[–]LikeASouthBoundTrain 2 points3 points ago

[–]UnPlug12 1 point2 points ago

I don't get it. I don't even feel my bra. Yeah, I'm a C but I never feel the need to throw it off in exultation.

[–]ApeWithACellphone 4 points5 points ago

I'm a C too and bra off is the best imo. It's just a matter of personal opinion. I hate bras, but then I also hate tight shirts, underwear, and shoes. It's just an opinion different than your own, there's nit really much to get.

[–]UnPlug12 0 points1 point ago

Meh. I'm not keen on flopping around. But I will agree with you on disliking shoes. Bare feet or sandals is the way to be.

[–]dumastory 1 point2 points ago

Ok I saw a few people state that they sleep in their bras... Thank goodness I don't feel like a freak anymore \o/ I think mine is less about how the bra fits and more that I like my support. I don't like being loosey-goosey, i feel really nasty and they pull down and it doesnt necessarily hurt but it's just so gross

[–]EveryoneElseIsWrong 1 point2 points ago

am i the only person who HATES taking their bra off? i never have it off unless i'm in the shower. this includes sleeping.

[–]teddylovesyou 2 points3 points ago

I've never understood why anyone would take their bra off during the day. What about support ... ?

[–]kill3rtita 7 points8 points ago

Well, if you're only using the bra so you don't nip through your shirt at strangers...

[–]Vivaciousqt 1 point2 points ago

This. When i'm at home and there is no visitors or anything over - i'm free.

[–]purplepeach 0 points1 point ago

Also how I feel EVERY time I take off the hands free pumping bra I use.

[–]seambyseam 0 points1 point ago

I love this feeling most of the time. However, some days it really, really hurts to take my bra off. It's momentary but it is very painful. Does this happen to anyone else?

[–]griisgriis 0 points1 point ago

So appropriate.

[–]lurking_misanthrope 0 points1 point ago

Sweet Freedom! But seriously, try the Ah Bra... It's the first bra that I never want to take off.

[–]089786 0 points1 point ago

I can't be the only one that LIKES wearing bras and feels weird to not wear one? Even when I sleep, I wear bras 90% of the time.

[–]DeepThought6 0 points1 point ago

Why do you have 4 boobs?

[–]blackbeanburger 0 points1 point ago

I wish my tits were big enough to waggle like that...

[–]yuhkih -4 points-3 points ago

I get the feeling that a lot of you ladies aren't wearing your correct bra size.

[–]jjawss 37 points38 points ago

DDD's + 90degree weather = doesn't matter if Jesus himself painted the thing on.

[–]pitchandwood 4 points5 points ago

Maybe they just have really large chests? I always sleep in my bra, the cotton kind which I always wear, and it doesn't bother me. I have A cups, so mine never really give me a problem.

[–]Vivaciousqt 1 point2 points ago

Cotton ones are a little different from full bras with the whole shinshibang going on, those cotton ones are comfortable in comparison. I'm sure if i wasn't a 14E i could wear those and be comfortable also.

Lucky ;)

[–]Vivaciousqt 5 points6 points ago

I'm an (AU) 14E, there is nothing at all comfortable about a bra.

I am properly fitted, its just not comfortable. Then it can be hot and makes it worse, or i could be bloated and its even more uncomfortable.

There are many factors but even on a normal day, i'd rather be free!

[–]not_poko 2 points3 points ago

nope, just super skinny and sometimes that underwire and my ribs don't mix, especially on a hot day. Recently while traveling I've been sticking to sports bras which bug me less.

I also hate shoes. I think people who spend all day in high heels are insane.

[–]Antije[S] 3 points4 points ago

Heck I don't even have as big of breast as many of the other ladies commenting- I just like being naked when I can! I also find pants to be leg prisons. To each their own- it does not always have to do with the fit of the bra.

[–]ninz 1 point2 points ago

Nope. 32B here (sized at a real lingerie shop) and don't really need one except for modesty and exercise :p

[–]Krakowianka 1 point2 points ago

36J here. There is no such thing as a comfortable bra at that size, just ones that hold everything where it should be.

[–]poor_toms_acold 2 points3 points ago

12G; preach it, sister.

[–]ReigninLikeA_MoFo -1 points0 points ago

Weirdest. Boner. Ever.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

Good for you, and also FUCKING OUCH
