well it all goes back to when i was volunteering at a local ostrich farm my freshman year in highschool. this was my third year there so i was building strong relationships with these birds... there were 4 males and 3 females. also about 5 eggs. we found that when we separated the males from the females they would lose their instinct of protecting their eggs. so we smashed their eggs.

The male ostrich sit on the eggs, the female aren't protective of the eggs at all, they just lay em, so they didn't lose their "protective instinct" at all. Not to mention it makes no sense to have 4 males an 3 females, the males are too territorial, they'd kill the other males. Each pen should have one male and two or three females depending on the age and stamina (lol no joke) of the bird. So unless you have one male sitting alone in a pen (which would not be a very efficient farm) this doesn't work. In the wild it'll basically be one male running around in a pack of about ten females. Also the birds are too stupid to get to know any person, or even any other ostrich. Seriously, if a female ostrich gets lost in the wild and ends up with another male ostrich they wouldn't even notice the difference. Therefore this story is false!

I know this isn't r/askscience or anything, but those sources aren't really sources. They're just the comments sections of Snopes and Museum of Hoaxes with other commenters claiming this isn't real. That said, probably don't need sources to conclude it's not real.
