That wasn't concentrated "Daft Punk" they were pouring on it?

[–]super_INEK 34 points35 points ago

I thought squids have more complex neural parts in every tentacle that react automatically so the squids actual brain can function on over things while giving only simple commands to the tentacles.

[–]robojesus5000 88 points89 points ago

Somebody read cracked this week

[–]super_INEK 21 points22 points ago

haha yes, exactly.

[–]t-o-k-u-m-e-i 12 points13 points ago

You're confusing squids with octopuses. Octopuses are the ones that have complex neural parts in their tentacles. Squids are much simpler animals.

[–]OniKoroshi 9 points10 points ago

They're great and picking world cup winners too.

[–]ShinyPichu 4 points5 points ago

...squidward

[–]heathw91 6 points7 points ago

Are you Squidward? ... It's ok, take your time...

[–]FappingAsYouReadThis 1 point2 points ago

The old days. :')

[–]Nitrogenica 1 point2 points ago

plural of octopus is octopodes because it's Greek.

[–]t-o-k-u-m-e-i 7 points8 points ago

[–]MikeTheSpike 2 points3 points ago

Cracked today has nothing to do with the magazine of yore, I don't think, and yet it's a compelling read.

[–]moothemagiccow 0 points1 point ago

The old cracked was a ripoff of Mad. Now it's just bullshit, misinformation, urban legends and the occasional fact masquerading as "10 things you didn't know about ___"

[–]moparornocar 4 points5 points ago

Yup it has to do with the legs reacting to the salt and such in the sauce.

[–]Hayzix 2 points3 points ago

first time on reddit 'sauce' has been used outside of NSFW

[–]tylerhampton00 1 point2 points ago

You are a saint.

[–]Phild3v1ll3 83 points84 points ago

It's the Sodium ions (Na+) in the soy sauce entering the muscle cells causing them depolarize and contract.

[–]darkneo86 12 points13 points ago

Thank you. Didn't feel like watching a video to learn this.

[–]MonkeyDog453 5 points6 points ago

You can put salt on frog legs, before cooking them, and they'll spasm around too.

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YZJt_Bw3eo

[–]frobischer 0 points1 point ago

That makes more sense. I though someone had carefully stunned and frozen-down a small squid. By pouring warm soy sauce on it they freed it from it's prison. They could call it the "R'lyeh Bowl."

[–]Aurick411 26 points27 points ago

It's nannerpus

[–]Zhitnik1 39 points40 points ago

[–]Scaryfedoraman 2 points3 points ago

One of the best movies of all time.

[–]RewindHoodie 16 points17 points ago

IIRC, the actor was Buddhist, and had to take a moment to pray after every take during that scene.

[–]BrianTumors 10 points11 points ago

You are correct. Did you ever see 'I Saw the Devil'? Another great movie with him.

[–]RewindHoodie 5 points6 points ago

Nope, but I'll check it out. Thanks!

[–]DudeWithFoot 2 points3 points ago

Korean action/revenge/horror movies are the best! "The Road" and "Tale of Two Sisters" are a couple other good ones, not the same actor though. And of course "The Host" is just badass.

[–]RewindHoodie 0 points1 point ago

Duly noted, I'll add them to the list of films to watch.

[–]ScorpiusDX 1 point2 points ago

Also, 'The Man From Nowhere' and 'The Yellow Sea.' Different actors but movies are just as crazy and badass.

[–]urban_night 0 points1 point ago

Everyone is forgetting Sympathy for Mister Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, the first and third movies in the trilogy that includes Oldboy.

[–]ShouldBeZZZ 0 points1 point ago

Oldboy...is part of a trilogy?

[–]urban_night 0 points1 point ago

Yes. The story lines are not connected but it's the director's revenge trilogy.

[–]urban_night 1 point2 points ago

I Saw the Devil was horrible.

[–]BrianTumors -1 points0 points ago

You think this movie was horrible? I feel bad for you.

I linked to give you the benefit of the doubt that you were confusing it with another movie.

[–]urban_night 0 points1 point ago

It has all the makings of a great ultraviolent Korean movie a la Oldboy but it tries way too hard and for the life of me I can't get down with Lee Byung Hun in that role, it just didn't work for me.

Let me suggest two other violent movies but gangster themed: Dirty Carnival and Rough Cut/Movie is a Movie. They kinda revolve around similar motifs with tough dudes with a great internal struggle, interfacing with the film media. And just enough violence to satisfy.

[–]cakey138 3 points4 points ago

I'm no Buddhist but Iike how they pray after they eat an animal, like they are respecting it's life being given for theirs to flourish.

[–]cakey138 1 point2 points ago

Riiight. Dickmode.

[–]assbangingkidz 0 points1 point ago

Ironic, it seems you are ill-equipped for witty retorts.

[–]USxMARINE 4 points5 points ago

Oldboy!

[–]taxikab817 1 point2 points ago

What is this from?

[–]Your_Post_Is_Metal -1 points0 points ago

Left it open in another tab...saw some NSFW stuff...came back to this. Goddamnit, internet.

[–]neiltc 6 points7 points ago

I like my food to fight back.

[–]LordSnuffykins 6 points7 points ago

Dont take Prilosec

[–]phishroom 5 points6 points ago

Check, please!

[–]RagepandaFuuuuuuu 19 points20 points ago

Well.....I've never seen it before

[–]distantkorean 8 points9 points ago

When I was a kid, my parents took me to a restaurant in Korea where they boil squid in front of you. It keeps moving around for a long time, even after being dismembered and plunged into boiling hot water. The experience still haunts me today.

[–]daengbo 2 points3 points ago

I always used to take visiting to the octopus store down the street, where the hacked up octopus came out still wiggling and you ate it raw while it was being cooked in chili paste in front of you.

It would stick to your chopsticks and your tongue or lips at the same time.

"Welcome to Korea. Don't puke."

[–]somegirlfromkansas 7 points8 points ago

make sure you chew fast otherwise the little suckers on the tentacles can stick to your throat and choke you. happy eating guys

[–]fabiobean 2 points3 points ago

I think it's a little under cooked.

[–]Cyberogue 2 points3 points ago

Ia! Ia!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I just yelled a little bit. Seriously. I just saw it and watched it twice and yelled in my room. That is the freakiest thing I have EVER SEEN.

[–]reddit_user13 1 point2 points ago

Klingons love that shit.

[–]BlueSound 7 points8 points ago

Ethical ? Yes it is...... for those who says no... get into nature more often...

[–]karl-marks 24 points25 points ago

I took a video of myself chasing down a baby deer and flaying it a little bit before I finally broke its neck and ate bits of it raw. I made it to match a video I had of a cheeta doing the same thing. I use it in my art installation to prove a point about the nature/illusion of ethics.

/IJustMadeThatUpButIBetThatKindOfArtInstallationWouldMakeYouFamous

[–]Lsky72 8 points9 points ago

I like you.

[–]BlueSound -1 points0 points ago

cool bro, baby deer die naturally all the time. ^ But maybe that's artificial ? Well as long as there are still deers, enjoy your hunting :)

[–]Rusty-Shackleford 2 points3 points ago

well nature doesn't like to salt dead things and watch them dance.

[–]BlueSound -1 points0 points ago

zzzzzzzzzz... the squid can't feel any pain.... check out the source with the neuro scientist

[–]urban_night 2 points3 points ago

In Korea they believe the fresher an animal is the healthier it is for you. They'll often kill something and eat it immediately after.

[–]BlueSound -1 points0 points ago

No problem in that !

[–]MikeTheSpike 3 points4 points ago

I kinda hold, you know, human beings to higher moral standards than animals. Call me crazy!

Anyway, evidently the thing's already dead so it's a moot point.

[–]LonJonDon 0 points1 point ago

Not really sure why, we are still animals after all; we choose to classify ourselves as "not an animal" which is kinda funny really.

[–]MikeTheSpike 0 points1 point ago

Deep, man.

[–]LonJonDon -1 points0 points ago

... says the guy talking about moral standards while posting on /wtf.........

[–]MikeTheSpike 0 points1 point ago

How does looking at a picture of, say, an ostrich eating a pizza off a midget's head disqualify me from having any sort of moral or ethical standards?

[–]LonJonDon 0 points1 point ago

Anyone can have standards, whether or not they are applied consistently is another matter.

[–]aesamattki 2 points3 points ago

Ethical? Yes. Fucked up? Yes.

[–]BlueSound -1 points0 points ago

not really... it really depends bro :/

[–]aesamattki 0 points1 point ago

No, it doesn't depend. There are plenty of fucked up things that happen in nature. It doesn't mean it's okay. Humans have a higher standard.

[–]BlueSound -1 points0 points ago

zzzzzzzzzzzzz

[–]MoonRazer 2 points3 points ago

This is one of the first WTF links that actually made me say "What the FUCK" aloud.

[–]mustacheofquestions 0 points1 point ago

Really? It's one of the few that didn't make me think WTF much at all. I've had live octopus before (it was prepared in a less dramatic manner than this), and it's quite delicious and healthy.

[–]zigzagofdoom -2 points-1 points ago

No.

[–]Britches_and_Hose 4 points5 points ago

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE

[–]Thotaz 1 point2 points ago

Repost, but imagine what it will feel like eating that thing and then drinking that sauce right after

[–]Skwerley 0 points1 point ago

Looks so delicious

[–]domosan30 0 points1 point ago

...and that's why I don't eat octopus. Or squid. x3

[–]dietbroccoli -3 points-2 points ago

Because you're a pussy?

[–]domosan30 0 points1 point ago

No, because I once got food poisoning.

[–]TheUnfamiliar 0 points1 point ago

Nononononono not THAT sauce! Use the OTHER sauce!

[–]ComputerSavvy 0 points1 point ago

Subway - Eat Fresh??

[–]we_started_the_fire 0 points1 point ago

Um, ill have what he's having.

[–]Logicism 0 points1 point ago

This kills the squid.

[–]Rokursoxtv 0 points1 point ago

This reminds me of a dream I had once..

[–]peppyhamburger 0 points1 point ago

It's Nannerpus!!!

[–]OutZoner 0 points1 point ago

"MOOOOO!"

Here is steak.

[–]Travie6492 0 points1 point ago

I'd eat that.

[–]agnosticdeist 0 points1 point ago

Fuckin' CREEPY! I've no problem eating Squid or any foods like that - but I think I may have found my match.

[–]jp_lolo 0 points1 point ago

ok. horrified. literally.. hor.if..eyed

[–]jlmoyer17 0 points1 point ago

This both disturbed and intrigued me at the same time...

[–]D68376837 0 points1 point ago

he doesnt have the top of his head

[–]omegamanzx3 0 points1 point ago

oh man ive seen that on youtube it does that because of the soy sauce.

[–]kyoto12 0 points1 point ago

Why is it still alive?

[–]kt0514 -1 points0 points ago

NOPE.

[–]YNot1989 1 point2 points ago

You know I'm not asking much, I just want them to kill my food before they serve it to me.

[–]nehpets96 1 point2 points ago

Titan A.E. reference?

Edit: Yup, guess Reddit's never seen the movie.

[–]YNot1989 2 points3 points ago

But of course.

[–]nehpets96 1 point2 points ago

Nobody got it, apparently, judging by the downvotes.

[–]Koreansuhoissexy 0 points1 point ago

Mmm yummy! I love squid

[–]urban_night 0 points1 point ago

They eat this in Korea, too. We'd go to the sushi conveyor belt places and they'd have bowls of it. The guys behind the counter would poke at it and they'd start squirming.

[–]FeswetHaidoor 0 points1 point ago

No different to a steak. when I bite into the juicy, bloody, meaty fibers. It moos a moo of pain.

[–]Adnachiel -1 points0 points ago

Dammit Japan.

[–]mknyan -3 points-2 points ago

I poured hot sauce on mine, went crazier than it did with soy sauce. It's delicious guys, seriously.

[–]intarctanxdx -1 points0 points ago

sik gaek this weekend? anybody?

[–]Fullyscared -1 points0 points ago

NOPE.

[–]I_came_for_the_cats -4 points-3 points ago

I'm done with the internet for an indistinguishable amount of time

[–]xbrand2 4 points5 points ago

Nobody believes that.

[–]I_came_for_the_cats 2 points3 points ago

Yea you're right I'm back...

[–]darkneo86 0 points1 point ago

For the cats, though?

[–]I_came_for_the_cats 0 points1 point ago

It's always for the cats

[–]E1mer_Fudd -3 points-2 points ago

Ive seen this on here so many times

Edit: didn't realize the shit storm that was going on with people complaining about a repost. Some people haven't seen it true and it's more wtf than a lot of stuff recently so I'll upvote.
