Exactly. Why has nobody noticed that quotes aren't said? Words are said, people or statements are quoted. One does not say a quote. Correct versions might include "most profound statement ever" or "most profound words ever said". But quotes being said does not (do not?) compute.

Quote is a verb. You quote things or people.

Quotation is a noun.

Moreover:

"One of the most profound quotations" is also wrong, because, as a superlative, there can only be one most. It would be "One of the more profound quotations ever said". It's not a sentence, but it's grammatically correct.

If we lived in a universe where you could make your "soul" corporeal there would be a porn "boot camp" series where naive barely legal stars doing there first scene watch there soul get gangbanged instead of them. Actually, there would be two kinds. The kind you described, and the opposite. The sadists among us would choose only the most desperate porn.
