Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

The is the Blanco Narrows. It's private property, accessible only by reservation. I've been there a couple of times and it is truly an amazing place.

[–]XpressAg09 3 points4 points ago

I was hoping to be the only one who knew this...karma for knowing its in Blanco? And not South Texas, but the Hill Country?

[–]eyeofthecodger 1 point2 points ago

Sure, why not...

[–]afcagroo 1 point2 points ago

You can see some stuff nearly as neat at Perdenales Falls. Or Hamiton's Pool.

[–]eyeofthecodger 0 points1 point ago

Absolutely right, I was no less impressed by either of those areas. They can hold their own in any comparison.

[–]MattivonKessing 0 points1 point ago

I got to see Jacob's Well for the first time this weekend. Not nearly as grandiose, but still really cool.

[–]thetruedarkone 0 points1 point ago

I looked, i couldn't find a way to 'reserve' a spot -.-

[–]eyeofthecodger 0 points1 point ago

it's currently a religious retreat that is part of the The Henderson-Wessendorff Foundation. I think they only accept reservations from religious organizations.

[–]jenniphur 15 points16 points ago

Cool pic I'd have to drive 4hrs north to get to it though. Its located north of Austin, no where near south Texas. I say thing coming from Galveston. That's the south... Texas Pride. You wouldnt understand.

[–]ModernViking333 14 points15 points ago

I used to live in the Rio Grade Valley... THAT'S south Texas.

[–]jessicalara555 3 points4 points ago

Haha at least u got away! I still live in McAllen /;

[–]ciscotree 2 points3 points ago

956 represent!

in 512 right now though

[–]ModernViking333 0 points1 point ago

Well, it's funny. I was born and raised in Harlingen and anytime I would tell some one outside of the RGV where I was from, they would always say 'Oh I love Arlington.' So then I would correct them. Now I do live in Arlington. Kinda ironic I guess.

[–]jessicalara555 1 point2 points ago

Lol hey arlington has a sixflags fiesta texas! That's something :p nothing like the one in san antonio tho!

[–]ModernViking333 0 points1 point ago

Arlington has much more then a Six Flags. I have been living in Arlington for a year and have yet to go.

[–]jessicalara555 1 point2 points ago

Oh I didn't mean it to sound like I said that was all it had...when I went to Dallas to visit family we went to the Arlington Fiesta Texas..I just thought the san Antonio one was better. No disrespect.

[–]LoneStarATX 0 points1 point ago

Whoa whoa, the Six Flags in Arlington is Six Flags Over Texas, the 1st Six Flags made. The Six Flags in San Antonio is Six Flags Fiesta Texas. And while I love Fiesta Texas, Over Texas is better IMO. Older, more rides, the Titan.

[–]hillarium 0 points1 point ago

I get that Arlington deal as well! Currently still in Harlingen here. Love this place but hoping to get out of here soon!

[–]Reddit_cctx 5 points6 points ago

Yeah I'm from Corpus and really wanted to see this. Then read it's by Austin womp womp

[–]psychicpilot 1 point2 points ago

Hey- I used to be a librarian at TAMU-CC. How's Water street these days?

[–]allarise 1 point2 points ago

Hey - I used to work at the computer lab at TAMU-CC

[–]hst_17 1 point2 points ago

I used to work at the library as well. From 2003-2005.

[–]psychicpilot 0 points1 point ago

Huh- I was there from 2002 to 2004/5ish. Maybe we knew each other? I did the information literacy coordinating and irritated the hell out of Ed Kownslar.

[–]hst_17 1 point2 points ago

Were you the guy that would go out and skate during slow times? I worked in ILL with Jose. I think I may have worked the desk with you for a couple of hours. Sally used to make some of us guys go out there.

[–]psychicpilot 0 points1 point ago

Yeah! I liked Ward Island/TAMU-CC, but my wife - from Fargo - hated South Texas. It just didn't seem right to her that you mowed your lawn in January and Santa rode a jet ski. Do you still work in libraries? Cheers!

[–]hst_17 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I work at UT-San Antonio now. I got my MLS last December and I'm trying to find a professional gig somewhere. I remember you saying your wife was unhappy in South Texas. It's completely understandable, not many people can tolerate 100 degree weather in November/December.

[–]psychicpilot 0 points1 point ago

Congrats on your MLS!

I didn't mind the climate so much- but the hurricanes, lack of tornado sirens and basements, the weird bugs and spiders that can kill you were all deal breakers. But I miss La Playa's fried/stuffed avocados and the Water Street grill.

Well- if you ever need to talk to a librarian in Nebraska, I'm your man!

[–]hst_17 0 points1 point ago

Thanks a lot. Keep in touch.

[–]Reddit_cctx 1 point2 points ago

Still delicious. They have a really talented sushi chef and make some creative rolls.

[–]XpressAg09 1 point2 points ago

Delicious. They have a sushi bar now.

[–]alixxlove 1 point2 points ago

[–]Reddit_cctx 1 point2 points ago

Are you a Corpus Christian?

[–]alixxlove 0 points1 point ago

The subreddit is a little slow, but our facebook is more active. I moved away from Corpus in June, and I go back once a month or so.

[–]Reddit_cctx 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I have Corpus on facebook, but you know reddit is just normally better

[–]alixxlove 0 points1 point ago

I meant that the subreddit has a facebook page.

[–]Reddit_cctx 0 points1 point ago

Oh well I will find it post haste

[–]Reddit_cctx 0 points1 point ago

It appears I need to be added... I can message you my fb url if need be

[–]Reddit_cctx 0 points1 point ago

seems to be a pretty slow sub..

[–]post_break 1 point2 points ago

I'm in webster and feel your pain. If only it was closer!

[–]erawenahs 0 points1 point ago

I'm in Lubbock, and you have to drive at least two hours to get to anything remotely interesting.

[–]Ferricplusthree 0 points1 point ago

Try living in Pecos.

[–]ciscotree 0 points1 point ago

actually it's south of austin, north of san antonio.

[–]jij 39 points40 points ago

In Texas? Surely you mean it used to be a coral reef 6000 years ago then.

[–]slow70 8 points9 points ago

Yes, the earth is "hundreds and hundreds and hundreds" of years old.

[–]Melencamp1 3 points4 points ago

Why the downvotes? I live in Texas and this post is hilarious! I'll get you back to even at least.

[–]dkotes 4 points5 points ago

Because he made fun of creationists, and they don't take kindly to facts and science.

[–]Melencamp1 5 points6 points ago

Or humor! :)

[–]JimmyInnernets 2 points3 points ago

They call it a "Jesus Hole".

[–]niamhish 1 point2 points ago

This was my first thought too!

[–]Zenithen 1 point2 points ago

I'd be afraid of prehistoric critter monsters getting me...

[–]jimbolaya 4 points5 points ago

[–]DongleNocker 1 point2 points ago

At the Boyscout Camp "El Rancho Cima" in Texas, the place is covered in prehistoric coral to the point it made it unpleasant to walk from my campsite to the pool in "water shoes" as a kid.

[–]tasthesose 0 points1 point ago

Hahaha, you are correct DongleNocker. Working in the kitchen at that camp was the most fun I had at a summer camp.

[–]erawenahs 0 points1 point ago

Upvote for Cima.

[–]badalchemist 0 points1 point ago

That pioneering merit badge was the shit

[–]TenPesoVersion 1 point2 points ago

We can't swim here. This is Hill Country.

[–]elucify 1 point2 points ago

And to think, since it's in South Texas, it's less than 6000 years old.

[–]NeonBatman 0 points1 point ago

That looks awesome!

[–]blue_oxen 0 points1 point ago

Where is this? I think this just made my need to visit list.

[–]Endangered_Feces84 0 points1 point ago

Beautiful

[–]littlestblue 0 points1 point ago

and what became of Coralville, Iowa????

[–]chalklady0 0 points1 point ago

makes me so home sick.

[–]tasthesose 0 points1 point ago

Maybe OP was making a joke about how there is no water in South Texas and they have to go all the way to Austin to find a place to swim. Except for the rivers... OK I got nothing.

[–]mm5192 0 points1 point ago

The funny part is, I bet most of them believe it's been like that the whole time.

[–]Meader 0 points1 point ago

the closet swimming hole kinda looks like a dick...

[–]gonzgarcia71405 -1 points0 points ago

BROWNSVILLE baby!!!! cant get any more south before you getting shot in mexico

[–]xChromeWolf -1 points0 points ago

Fake. Texans don't believe in dinosaurs.

[–]schuldig -5 points-4 points ago

Hamilton Pool, nice....when it's open.

[–]holmesolo 3 points4 points ago

[–]lolWTFareUkiddingme -2 points-1 points ago
