Not too long ago I read a true story of 2 guys out riding/hunting in Montana when a snow blizzard broke out. They couldn't find their truck/horse trailer because of how dark it was so they killed their horses, cut them open and crawled inside. They woke up the next morning and the truck was 10 feet away from them.

I'm guessing they are, or one of them, is a vet and this is a necropsy where the animal either had no owner or the owner was not around. Just playing around with the corpse while trying to determine cause of death. It is harmless really, albeit kind of tasteless. Lots of medical students do similar things with human remains to relieve the stress of long hours of study and practicals.
