Our little dude chases his tail frequently. He likes to do it at specific times in specific places. After we start getting ready for bed, he'll jump in the bath tub and do it, making little chirping noises. He's done it ever since he was a baby.

Once, he did it in the living room and actually caught it. So pleased with this outcome, he trotted across the room to "hide" his catch. It's exactly as absurd as you'd imagine.

People post stuff like this sometimes and it really makes me sad. Its a mental disease that animals can develop that makes it so they can't recognize a part of their body as their own, I believe its called phantom limb disorder, but I'm not sure.) A video of a dog growling and eventually biting his own paw won AFV once, and I don't think anyone would have laughed if they knew the dog was suffering.

Phantom limb is when amputees "feel" missing limbs. Out of the 7 or so dogs/cats I've had almost all of them have done this. There is nothing wrong with it.

I guess I deleted the presentation, but I remember him saying that its like when dogs chase their tails. Dogs do this because they think the tail isn't part of their body and precede to try and sniff it, chase it, and bite it. Its a neurological disorder when this spreads further than the tail, like to the legs. This is the video I mentioned earlier, and just because your pets experience this doesn't mean it isn't a problem. All of my dogs have had back or digestion issues, but that doesn't mean its okay.
