It's Marlon Brando - but it's from his screentest for Rebel Without A Cause.

[–]Day_Nuh 45 points46 points ago

Yeah, I just searched Last Tango in Paris and he was old in that movie.

[–]therealoliverdavies 63 points64 points ago

You can find the full version on Youtube...

[–]Day_Nuh 38 points39 points ago

Thanks! I never thought the sentence "I hate his stupid face" could be sexy until you provided that link.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points ago

lol, he does a lot of standing up and walking into the middle of the camera in that link whilst talking.

[–]CaliforniaBurrito858 12 points13 points ago

Top youtube comment "I am now gay"

Me too. Yowza.

[–]snipsnip 1 point2 points ago

It's out of sync like a drowning whale.

[–]princeofid 40 points41 points ago

Get the butter.

[–]mildredfeirce 7 points8 points ago

Fresh, creamery butter.

[–]VampeQ 5 points6 points ago

I love when men have no fear of ... umm.. butter.

[–]GenTso 25 points26 points ago

I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth. That's just me. That's just something that I enjoy.

[–]joeredspecial 1 point2 points ago

I wish I could upvote you forever. My favorite/the best movie ever with one of the best lines ever.

[–]Sugar_buddy 1 point2 points ago

What is it? o_O

[–]joeredspecial 1 point2 points ago

Here's the clip It's a little out of sync.

If you haven't seen Boogie Nights, please check it out. It's an amazing movie. Great directing, acting, production, writing, EVERYTHING. I think a lot of people dismiss it because it's about porn, but it's so much more.

[–]VampeQ 7 points8 points ago

He was older, no less sexy and ever more experianced... which is always a turn on.

[–]ReggieJ 21 points22 points ago

For some young Brando hotness, there's always A Streetcar Named Desire.

[–]PillsburyDougBoy 15 points16 points ago

That's a good one because he has his shirt off for a majority of the movie.

[–]joeyheartbear 8 points9 points ago

No, you gotta do On the Waterfront. The whistle scene is amazing.

[–]wabbajacky 9 points10 points ago

Now that's a manly man.

drool

[–]GwelyMernans 8 points9 points ago

Except he's a rapist wife beater.

[–]amazingseiderman 1 point2 points ago

In real life, or in "Streetcar"?

[–]mondomojo 1 point2 points ago

That's part of the sexy - Blanche likes his wild and violent nature. Many women find the alpha male irresistable.

[–]VampeQ 6 points7 points ago

Oh Yes! "You and I have had this date from the beginning."

And The Wild One, don't forget The Wild One.

[–]DENVER0501 1 point2 points ago

I was a teenager when THe Wild One came out. All of us girls almost lost our minds over that movie. I remember spending my entire allowance going to theater every weekend. Streetcar and Waterfront were all very good for acting but we wanted 'sexy'. I can't remember what word used back then, since 'sexy' was not said in polite company; but we knew Brando was 'whatever' and our tongues were hanging out.

[–]PreppersFantastic 4 points5 points ago

STELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]delphidash 3 points4 points ago

Dear Lord thank you Redditors for giving me something to do this summer I MEAN watch this summer.

[–]ReggieJ 2 points3 points ago

Nope, nope. We know what you meant.

[–]queen_frostine 5 points6 points ago

You there. I like your thinking. Have an upvote.

[–]VampeQ 5 points6 points ago

Have an upvote back.

[–]queen_frostine 1 point2 points ago

Aw shucks ;)

[–]Upvote_Unlocked 1 point2 points ago

you all get upvotes... that made me giggle.

[–]FCKSQUATCH 1 point2 points ago

Now run your hand over her knee...

[–]bobisagirl 8 points9 points ago

Of course, Brando isn't actually in Rebel, but he IS in The Wild One, which is from the year before. So if you wanna see him looking hawt, watch that :)
Also, this screentest is easily found on youtube. It's pretty.

[–]Bitter_Idealist 2 points3 points ago

"What are you rebelling against Johnny?"

"Whadda ya got?"

"We want to be FREE to ride our MACHINES..."

Damn. I want to rewatch it now.

[–]DeltaShield 28 points29 points ago

Not Marlon Brando ... Its Jor-el

[–]Adnovitam 63 points64 points ago

Yes, this is a gif from his screentest. This is why it is important to watch old films.

[–]Day_Nuh 52 points53 points ago

The funny thing is that I love old films but I have only seen a couple of Brando flicks. I think its because I prefer lighthearted over drama. I can watch Charlie Chaplin and the Marx Brothers all day long.

[–]cornfrontation 20 points21 points ago

Guys and Dolls may be the only young Brando movie I've seen for the same reason as you.

[–]Parabolized 1 point2 points ago

I wish I could upvote you forever. Frank Sinatra AND Marlon Brando. being funny, no less.

[–]Ipushmycar 138 points139 points ago

...You can watch Charlie Chapin and the Marx brothers all day long, but you can't recognize Marlon Brando? I call shenanigans.

I suggest watching A Streetcar Named Desire. It's early brando but he's just as handsome in that as he is this.

[–]DaisyDoodles 174 points175 points ago

No, she knew it was Brando, she was just asking what movie the gif was from!

EDIT: People, quit arguing over it and enjoy the pretty man.

[–]mattmachino 78 points79 points ago

Who said the poster was a she? Stop being racist

[–]CountNoAccount 29 points30 points ago

But her name is Dana! Oh, wait...

[–]GreekActor1 66 points67 points ago

There is no Dana, only Zuul!

[–]greenconverse11 7 points8 points ago

My, what a lovely singing voice you must have!

[–]DrSarno 13 points14 points ago

DANAAAA!!!

[–]listentobillyzane 6 points7 points ago

WHATTTT!!!

[–]laidlow 4 points5 points ago

JUMP! DADDY WILL CATCH YOUUUU!

[–]Canigetahellyea 0 points1 point ago

SMITHERSSSS!!!!!!

[–]DaisyDoodles 2 points3 points ago

Eheheh.

[–]jessers25 4 points5 points ago

Nowhere did she say she knew it was him.

[–]DaisyDoodles 0 points1 point ago

I know it wasn't explicitly stated, but it can be assumed by the way what OP says is phrased.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

[–]DaisyDoodles 6 points7 points ago

That...kinda doesn't disprove what I said. It's still looks like she knew to me, though I could be wrong.

[–]lunchbox_assassin 12 points13 points ago

"On the Waterfront" is a must-see Brando film as well. It features superb acting from an all-star cast and great direction by Elia Kazan. One of Brando's best lines is from this movie: "I could've been a contender".

[–]caernavon 11 points12 points ago

I suggest watching On the Waterfront.

I suggest not ever watching The Island of Dr. Moreau.

[–]Tralan 6 points7 points ago

Then watch Island of Dr. Moreau.... you'll never fap/schlick to Brando again :(

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]beebeedoom 1 point2 points ago

Is your username a reference to a Brittany Murphy movie?

[–]Bored_At_Night 21 points22 points ago

I know he's a misogynistic wife beater, but those muscles...

Proof you can beat the living shit out of someone for no reason and have no respect or regard for women, but they will still flock to you if you're hot.

I'm usually staunchly against blaming victims, but in this case it's like running into a clenched fist. You'd deserve it.

[–]fairvanity 33 points34 points ago

coughChrisBrowncough

[–]lovelemurs 5 points6 points ago

id let him beet me 2 deth

[–]fairvanity 25 points26 points ago

The time Andy Levy shut him down was great

teamBreezy~

[–]Snatland 27 points28 points ago

There's a difference to saying, 'God he looks hot,' and actually ever considering dating or otherwise going near the guy.

[–]EarBucket 12 points13 points ago

Or proof that molly_smiles is able to distinguish between an actor and the characters he plays.

[–]seamouse 19 points20 points ago

This happens with most people, though. I don't date the "bad girls," and on the whole, I find smartness to be one of my most important features for attraction. But There are the ripped-jeans, fucked-up, smeared-eyeliner girls smoking outside a bar that I can't help but find sexy.

As a guy, it frustrates me to see women go for assholes only to end up getting hurt. "Look at me, the nice guy!" we all yell. But there's a sexiness to dominance, and most people don't know how to be dominant without hurting others.

Just look at examples of what can make a man sexy in fashion: a finely tailored suit, or a "wifebeater." That sums up quite a bit.

[–]Miguelerbee 4 points5 points ago

"But there's a sexiness to dominance, and most people don't know how to be dominant without hurting others".Your comment is so true male or female and we all know it.I fall into the "wifebeater/blue-collar" in looks and life and I was really lucky with my genetics, and I have been an asshole in the past and am still a bit abrasive.I do firmly believe though in sexy and dominance. Male/female or vice-versa.

[–]iAnnaioo 1 point2 points ago

Those pictures...

[–]hrdxxcorey 4 points5 points ago

just shut up

[–]Kandarian 0 points1 point ago

The difference is that he plays a character in Streetcar. It's okay to like a character that's a piece of shit but may have other redeeming qualities (even if those qualities are pretty muscles). Characters aren't actually hurting anyone.

Brando as a person was a womanizer and seriously rough around the edges, but, as far as I know, not a wife beater.

[–]thecritic06 1 point2 points ago

Let's be clear, Streetcar is a piece of fiction and Brando was an actor. I don't think it says too much about reality for an actor acting to be attractive.

[–]John_um 0 points1 point ago

C'mon r/movies can we please not let the forever alone bitterness not leak into this sub?

[–]meancommentredditor 1 point2 points ago

Pushing the street car named desire... could be a sequel.

[–]Myrandall 1 point2 points ago

That's not a very mean comment

[–]basshound3 1 point2 points ago

EVERYBODY GRAB A BROOM! IT'S SHENANIGANS!

[–]WHiTErTheNBlack 1 point2 points ago

I had to read streetcar in high school and then we watched Brandos movie afterwards. I dreaded the book but his performance made the movie enjoyable. Still doesnt beat the simpsons version.

[–]m4n715 1 point2 points ago

I'd watch On the Waterfront, but that's just me.

[–]Terny 1 point2 points ago

STEEELLAAAAAAA!!!!!

[–]zackbarnaby2 2 points3 points ago

I don't always watch communist movies, but when I do, I watch the Marx brothers.

[–]Sohrab007 1 point2 points ago

You should watch this movie, this is one of it's best scenes

[–]jew_jitsu 2 points3 points ago

Imagine if he'd got this role instead of Dean, Brando had been in the Little Bastard, and Dean had lived to be a fat old bloke dying from big macs and winning oscars for his depiction of mafiosi.

Would this be the face we associate with the essence of cool now?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

why does it make it important?

[–]wellhushmypuppies 4 points5 points ago

without what came before, all the stuff you watch now would simply not be. It's a reflection of our culture and our history as well looking at the genres that prevailed in each decade. screentests are just icing on the cake because you get to see the actor as both their screen and non-screen persona.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Fair one, but then of course "our culture" is the difficult one here, considering you're likely American, whereas I am British.

Though there is quite a bit of crossover either way. However that never stopped The Hunger Games from ripping off Battle Royale.

[–]wellhushmypuppies 1 point2 points ago

America?? Take something that wasn't theirs??? The devil you say!

[–]RichardRogers 2 points3 points ago

What, you mean that there's no such thing as adapting an idea??? Japan does not have a monopoly on the concept of children fighting to the death simply because Battle Royale came before The Hunger Games. In fact, Battle Royale is probably not the first work of fiction with that premise. Sorry to interrupt the anti-America circlejerk, but human creativity does not work that way.

[–]ruaidhri 1 point2 points ago

Indeed. What is the story of the Minotaur but youths being sent off to their death?

[–]ToucanPlayThisGame 23 points24 points ago

Oh, Marlon Brando, when he was young! Yowza!! Absolutely drool-worthy!

[–][deleted] ago

[–]Tamural 25 points26 points ago

Or not alive.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points ago

With such a manly exterior I expected a bear growl or something. He sounds so delicate!

[–]GadTheCreator 6 points7 points ago

That casting director was really fixated on his eyes.

[–]help_imalive 9 points10 points ago

my boner softened.

[–]tim_uwang 1 point2 points ago

Watch him in Julius Caesar (1953?) as Mark Antony. He can do wonderful things with his voice.

[–]katffro 1 point2 points ago

I watched A Streetcar Named Desire for him and was shocked. Then I saw this video and my world crumbled around me. But as long as I mute it, it's okay.

[–]michicant 13 points14 points ago

Okay so it's so wrong but watch Streetcar to perv on Brando. Sexiest. Man. Ever. (Kindly ignore what an abusive bastard he is in that film. Focus on the bod.)

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points ago

That's also pretty solid relationship advice.

[–]georgiewhat 29 points30 points ago

mm I love old school looking guys, so masculine

[–]full_of_stars 10 points11 points ago

Oddly enough...

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

chivalry when they like it, sexism when they don't

[–]rolfv 7 points8 points ago

How could that become this?

[–]sexybabyjesus2 5 points6 points ago

I wonder, if after living your life for so long as the object of so many people's sexual fantasies/desires, maybe one day at a certain age you would just wake up and be like "fuck it, I'm over this shit...bring on the milkshakes."

[–]r3vv 1 point2 points ago

As an aspiring actor, most every acting book and class tells you that one of your biggest tools is your body. We all also understand that show business is very shallow. Hence why every aspiring actor/actress tends to be packed into a gym or worried about appearance. It's all about how you appear. We are for show.

Speaking from my mindset with this information, after so much time of having to care so much I'm sure it truly does become, "Fuck it, I'm over this."

[–]HariBadr 1 point2 points ago

You try and care how you look like when you own your own island.

[–]Raicuparta 8 points9 points ago

I've never felt this gay before.

[–]chitty_bang_slut 6 points7 points ago

[–]daniblueeyes 12 points13 points ago

Wish men today still dressed that classily on a regular basis.

[–]soochosaurus 26 points27 points ago

I certainly would if I had the money

[–]theenriquesuave 15 points16 points ago

I probably wouldn't. I would look out of place in a lot of settings, and it would make me appear inaccessible to my peers.

[–]SweetMojaveRain 1 point2 points ago

I wonder if it's more expensive to dress that way today than then. Like comparably durable fashionable jackets and boots then to now.

[–]TheBaltimoron 4 points5 points ago

Here's a pic of that dish in nothing but his underwear.

[–]99_44_100percentpure 12 points13 points ago

You should watch The Island of Dr. Moreau then. It's his sexiest role.

[–]blastoman334 17 points18 points ago

James Franco has a little bit of that, but scruffier.

[–]melllvar93 1 point2 points ago

I agree, and there's something about him that reminds me of Dave Franco too... I think it's his smile

[–]FamilyToad 1 point2 points ago

Yes! I can totally see both of them making this expression.

[–]blerms 9 points10 points ago

Want to know a trick for help in such situations?

Go to Google Images hit that little camera on the right side of the search box, and enter the picture's URL. Won't always work, but Sometimes one of the results will help.

[–]PatternOfKnives 4 points5 points ago

I would. That he was bisexual is all the more awesome.

[–]music_addict 3 points4 points ago

He is incredibly handsome. I'm sorry I'm not helping with the actual problem here but hell, that man sure is beautiful. The term handsome actually doesn't even do his face justice.

[–]6582A 1 point2 points ago

Yeah at best it's understatement, at worst an intolerable injustice.

[–]music_addict 1 point2 points ago

Haha I absolutely agree with you!

[–]nickthedick69 2 points3 points ago

Im straight. edit: was.

[–]558blond 10 points11 points ago

I'm gay and even i'm drooling over him

[–]imnotwearingany 4 points5 points ago

Brando. Here, he looks like a young Burt Reynolds.

[–]TheMediumPanda 4 points5 points ago

Not that much. I'd say a young Paul Newman.

[–]Mykkkkkk 46 points47 points ago

Or a young Marlon Brando.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Or a young Marpaullon Brandnewmano.

[–]BundyCapone 3 points4 points ago

[–]bricardo 1 point2 points ago

wow

[–]Tachibana 5 points6 points ago

"Homosexuality is so much in fashion it no longer makes news. Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences and I am not ashamed." - Marlon Brando, 1976

Oh god... there was hope. Damn my being born a century too late!

[–]_Ravist_ 25 points26 points ago

In a straight male... but this... I could fap to this all night long.

[–]tyrer 67 points68 points ago

Little hint for ya, if you're in him, he's not straight.

[–]awkward_everything 27 points28 points ago

[–]diggemigre 6 points7 points ago

That's awkward.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points ago

I think reddit has taught me that sexuality is more of a spectrum than a our simple straight/bi/gay/trans categorization...

[–]full_of_stars 37 points38 points ago

Attraction more so than sexuality. I can easily, and have, find a man attractive, but that does not make me want to suck his dick.

[–]Sugar_buddy 3 points4 points ago

Good luck convincing anyone besides Reddit of that.

[–]Batcaptain 11 points12 points ago

The joke's on you; the only socializing I do is on Reddit.

[–]MattyHchrist 18 points19 points ago

Hint: You're not as straight as you think you are.

[–]OddAdviceGiver 2 points3 points ago

The most attractive of both genders tend to be androgynous. I mean there's exceptions (see: Mick Jagger, Steven Tylor, Juliette Lewis, etc.) but at that point it's not the looks, it's the personality or gait or acting or movements... grace, shall we say.

Doesn't mean you're gay, it just shows that your inherited genetic traits are working correctly. He is an attractive man. And would probably fool you if he dressed in drag with a good makeup artist.

The word "Handsome" works for both sexes, in the english language.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

Which reminds me of Gael García Bernal in drag. I'm sure many of you would do him.

[–]meme5 2 points3 points ago

I just finished re-watching Apocalypse Now, this is a little eerie.

[–]randfur 2 points3 points ago

The taste of chocolate manifested itself in my mouth while I watched that GIF.

[–]biffthestiff 2 points3 points ago

there are equally good looking males today. what set marlon apart from the rest was that he was also a very good actor. My mother really had the hots for this guy and wouldn't miss a picture of his.

[–]Loisbeat 2 points3 points ago

[–]WateredDown 2 points3 points ago

OH NO, POSTER IS A WOMAN, EVERYONE SET YOUR NERVES TO 'RAW'

[–]Gedrean 4 points5 points ago

TIL Reddit has a man-crush on Brando.

[–]I_play_elin 5 points6 points ago

Jesus I want to watch it and drool over this man.. and I'm a straight dude. (yes, yes, let the flaming commence)

[–]mechabeast 8 points9 points ago

interesting choice of words

[–]thecritic06 2 points3 points ago

As per your request: You can't be that straight then.

[–]the_future_unemploya 1 point2 points ago

Guessing you're from the darktide boards? AA?

[–]sonofslackerboy 1 point2 points ago

I just love the smell of Marlon Brando in the morning

[–]MustHaveCleverHandle 1 point2 points ago

Young Marlon Brando, that is

[–]redops47 1 point2 points ago

that actually looks like my middleschool history teacher from 8th grade LOL

[–]xenomorph_lovin 1 point2 points ago

That's Marlon Brando. If you want to drool over him, watch On the Waterfront or Streetcar Named Desire. Both great films.

[–]Demojen 1 point2 points ago

Marlon Brando: Rebel Without a Cause.

[–]sweetgreggo 1 point2 points ago

[–]HighInAK 6 points7 points ago

It's Marlon Brando, from some old film.

[–]Day_Nuh 7 points8 points ago

and thank you!

Edit: Def. not Last Tango in Paris.

Duh....my dreams.

[–]omen004 0 points1 point ago

Handsome Brando is handsome

[–]6582A 0 points1 point ago

That handsome son of a bitch. How dare he raise the bar that high? But on the plus side the only guy that has got close to that level of perfect man-ness in the last twenty years is Brad Pitt, and the current benchmark is what's-his-name vampire, so with a bit of work on our guns the rest of us are still in with a chance.

[–]Ethoxyethaan 0 points1 point ago

I happen to be a member of an organisation that can help you; it's called NAMBLA.

[–]natlight 0 points1 point ago

[–]4Li3n 0 points1 point ago

Brando was born in 1924(IMDB). The chalk board shows Brando's age as 23. Rebel Without A Cause was released in 1955.

???

"Warner Brothers had bought the rights to the book, intending to use the title for a film. Attempts to create a film version in the late 1940s eventually ended without a film or even a full script being produced. When Marlon Brando did a five-minute screen test for the studio in 1947, he was given fragments of one of the 1940s partial scripts. However, Brando was not auditioning for Rebel Without a Cause and there was no offer of any part made by the studio. The film, as it later appeared, was the result of a totally new script written in the 1950s that had nothing to do with the Brando test. The screen test is included on a 2006 special edition DVD of the 1951 film A Streetcar Named Desire." - Wikipedia

[–]spacedicksmakestears 0 points1 point ago

Wow. You seriously didn't know who that was? I'm old.

[–]aoiao 0 points1 point ago
