Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

We don't have any good eclipses coming up in the near future over here. It's really sad. If I had been aware of the May 20 annular eclipse sooner, I might have gone over to the west coast. Eclipses are extremely rare and exciting events.

I bought 100 of them from rainbow symphony. After shipping and taxes they cost me 68 cents Canadian each. I'll be selling them this weekend - haven't settled the price yet but I'll see what people are willing to pay.

Just use a card and poke a tiny hole in it. Then aim the sun light through the hole and watch the eclipse on a flat surface.

While this is true, if you're expecting it to look anything remotely like this picture you're going to be sorely disappointed. That picture is of a total solar eclipse, not an annular one like the one on the 20th will be.

"Karma whoring" is anything that may result in karma yield by OP, including but not limited to: any picture of a cat, any humorous image that is not 100% genuine (photoshops, gag iphone/facebook conversations that obviously instantly lose all comedic value unless they ACTUALLY HAPPENED, just like all jokes), and of course, posting an image that may have been posted on Reddit at any point in the past at all.

Told my mom about the "Ring of Fire" eclipse that's going to happen this Sunday on the west coast. She says that pregnant women have to wear a safety pin attached to their waste so the eclipse doesn't effect the baby. Yup.

Annular eclipse, specifically, means that the moon is too far away at the moment for a total eclipse, so even when the centers are aligned, there's a ring of sun left around the moon.
