I have never understood why people are afraid of mummies. I know that there were a bunch of old mummy horror movies which probably instilled fear in some children of certain generation, but the mummy fear must have existed before to have inspired these films.

Mummies are dead, and if they were magically brought back to life, they're still just bones and dried skin wrapped in petrified cloth. Just kick it and it'll crumble to pieces.
