It sucks when you think of something and it turns out someone has already said it 100 years ago and far more eloquently.

Thanks for sharing! I haven't heard this before, and I absolutely love it. There's a song by Brett Dennen with the lyrics "There will be no end because there was no beginning" and even though I'm not sure if this concept was the intention, it's how I've personally understood it. In a way it has given me a sense of comfort that there does not have to be a start point. If we can accept infinitely expanding space why can time not also be infinite?

That's when this universe began, but some scientists believe there may be parallel universes. "Our universe may be just one element - one atom, as it were - in an infinite ensemble: a cosmic archipelago. Each universe starts with its own big bang, acquires a distinctive imprint (and its individual physical laws) as it cools, and traces out its own cosmic cycle. The big bang that triggered our entire universe is, in this grander perspective, an infinitesimal part of an elaborate structure that extends far beyond the range of any telescopes." Martin Rees. It's a theory and I'm not saying it's the truth but I find it fascinating and I hope science continues to explore this possibility.

This goes to show how delusional this creature Russell was, period

This guy was in league with the governments and elites of the world when he existed and fell or chose to agree with their mentality and perception of how the world and humans should be, not as they naturally are, but as an inauthentic simulation or post-human of who we are or once were in this reality. In other words, Russell wanted a world were all humans can be controlled, predictable, repeatable, and reproducible in every objective and subjective way, sounds every bit like a psycho-path to me. Just read his quotes and works with a more critical analysis and contrast him with other philosophers who had a different moral philosophy about humans like David Hume or Socrates or Martin Heidegger or Jean Baudrillard and see the big difference... that Russell was one deviated and selfless (having no self) prick.

Whenever someone asks "where did it all come from?" I think "Where would it all go?"

So the Big Bang never happened? I suspect Bertrand Russell may have been a Steady State believer.

Well, to solve the problem of beginning of the universe without saying that something come out of nothing (which philosophy does not approve) and still using the Big Bang theory we cold say two things in my opinion: 1-Big Bang happened in infinity time ago, so the universe always existed because the time which big bang "started" was the beginning of time 2-Big Bang is cyclic, we are in one cycle, the Big Bang keeps happening over and over again, by expansion and regression.

I heard the second option is widely accepted by astrophysicists but I'm not sure.

I feel like I've heard that there was evidence that the galaxies were moving away from each other fast enough to break the gravitational barrier, meaning they would not ever come back together. I may be mistaken though. I like the second option more, cyclic.

It's not about wether or not you like it. It's not true the universes expansion rate is increasing not decreasing.

[–]Mupingmuan1 0 points1 point ago

Dark energy disproved this though. The universes acceleration is speeding up, not slowing down, and it never will.

1)the big bang couldn't have happened an infinity of time ago because scientists know that the universe started in a finite period ago.

2) Dark energy has disproved the cyclic universe hypothesis because the expansion rate of the universe is speeding up not slowing down.
