Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:
[text here](/spoiler)

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Is that Herschel Kristofski?

[–]Battleflame 60 points61 points ago

*Krustofski

[–]colourofawesome 7 points8 points ago

Technically if it's a translation from Hebrew any English spelling is a close approximation at best.

[–]RPrevolution 9 points10 points ago

I know so little about the world...

[–]puppetmast 1 point2 points ago

not from hebrew... jewish names like this are more eastern european than hebrew.

[–]majorkev 0 points1 point ago

[–]goofandaspoof 6 points7 points ago

Literally every time this picture is posted this is the top comment. Props on using his actual name though.

Edit: Spelling.

[–]NTD 7 points8 points ago

I was gonna say that, one comment here and it was the one I came to make.

[–]rawrc -1 points0 points ago

Hey, I was gonna say THAT.

[–]Battleflame 0 points1 point ago

Insert recursion joke here

[–]Sventertainer 1 point2 points ago

I read that as: insecure recursion joke

[–]TrustyGuy 0 points1 point ago

It just has a little self-esteem problem.

[–]BobTewilliger 0 points1 point ago

I'd recognise that face anywhere.

[–]buckygrad 0 points1 point ago

Wow, same top comment from the last time this was posted.

[–]mrhulot 1 point2 points ago

[–]705nce -4 points-3 points ago

[–]ddrlenz 0 points1 point ago

Damn. The only reason I came into this thread was to make this joke. Hats off to you sir.

[–]mei9ji 36 points37 points ago

Purim.

[–]HutSutRawlson 10 points11 points ago

So happy there's someone else in this thread with any clue of what's actually going on here.

[–]virusporn 4 points5 points ago

Holy shit. I googled that word. Google told me when the next one was!

Purim begins in the evening of Saturday, 23 February 2013, and ends in the evening of Sunday, 24 February 2013.

[–]ThisIsVictor 1 point2 points ago

Ooooh, duh. I should have figured that out. Thanks!

[–]DoobleRose 24 points25 points ago

I was ignorant of the name of that hat they're wearing. Here's a link to save you all a few google clicks...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shtreimel

A traditional story has it that an anti-Semitic political figure once issued a decree that male Jews must be identified on Shabbat by "wearing a tail" on their heads. Although the decree was an attempt to mock the Jews, the Hasidic rabbis considered the matter seriously, in keeping with the universally accepted Jewish law stating "the Law of the Land in which Jews live is to be upheld so long as it does not obstruct Jewish observance." They arrived at a plan that complied with and even exceeded the decree by arranging to make hats such as worn by royalty, encircled by a ring of tails, thereby transforming an object of intended ridicule into a crown. Further, they instituted that the number of tails follow Jewish numerology, symbolizing the wearer's sacred intentions.

[–]beergoggles69 2 points3 points ago

That's awesome. I live in a part of town that has a relatively high proportion of orthodox Jews. My friend is not Jewish but loves American-Jewish culture (Seinfeld, Woody Allen etc).

When he first visited my new neighbourhood we went for a drive so he could take pictures with his SLR of all the Jews walking around town after temple on the Saturday. The first time we saw an old guy walk past with one of these hats, he just looked in awe, before proclaiming him the "Big-dog Jew" and proceeded to snap pictures enthusiastically.

So yes, those hats are pretty impressive.

[–]ironic_racism 0 points1 point ago

That's pretty badass.

[–]Quizchris 6 points7 points ago

I can't wait to see this picture again in 2 days!

[–]branded 62 points63 points ago

OMG.

Completely relevant and obligatory joke:

A guy tells his friend that he's "going to kill 1000 Jews and one clown." The friend then asks, "Why would you kill a clown?" The guy replies, "See! Nobody gives a shit about the dead Jews!"

Gooby pls.

[–]captain-ballsack 4 points5 points ago

I don't understand how people can be both this sensitive and on reddit -- just doesn't make sense to me.

How do you suffer all the offensive content?

[–]shitterplug 10 points11 points ago

That's a lot of jews...

[–]oldsmell 18 points19 points ago

I believe the correct terminology is 'a flock' of jews

[–]exhorder 50 points51 points ago

It's actually a "bank" of jews.

[–]x_yz_x_yz 2 points3 points ago

have a bagel.

[–]Synth3t1c 1 point2 points ago

Care to cite that joke?

[–]exhorder 1 point2 points ago

4chan probably.

[–]exhorder 6 points7 points ago

Nice!

[–]Haterz-Gonna-Hate 0 points1 point ago

SRS is full of the kind of people who would get raped on purpose just so they'd have something legitimate to feel victimized about. Also, a few of them are self-confessed as mentally/emotionally unstable.

[–]exhorder 0 points1 point ago

I still have a hard time believing they're for real.

[–]ElDiablo666 0 points1 point ago

It's called having a sense of humor. Dislodge that giant humorless stick from your ass and you'd understand.

[–]Aiskhulos 1 point2 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]clyde_taurus -3 points-2 points ago

It's actually a coven oven of Jews.

[–]Dave_Davidson_ 6 points7 points ago

So "bank of Jews" gets upvoted, but "oven of Jews" is where we're drawing the line?

Not going for intellectual consistency today, are we?

[–]Ynstijn -5 points-4 points ago

Please report to http://www.reddit.com/r/imgoingtohellforthis immediately, sir.

Krusty?

[–]PolyOctopus 13 points14 points ago

Beginning of Krusty the Clown

[–]robalesi 8 points9 points ago

Unless you can be Batman?

[–]AussiePete 3 points4 points ago

Always be batman.

[–]drajgreen 0 points1 point ago

I was batman for Purim the only year I ever dressed up. We are half Jewish and I was spending the day with my uncle and his family and we went to a Purim party at a school. Everyone was dressed at characters from the story, except for me and my brothers dressed in our Halloween costumes. They passed a mic around asking each kid who they were dressed as and why. 6 year old me say "Batman, because Batman is the real hero of Purim!"

[–]AussiePete 0 points1 point ago

The hero that Purim needs.

[–]ilikekingdomhearts 2 points3 points ago

He's dressed up for Purim. Usually the young children dress up: it's encouraged. They can be as colorful and flamboyant as they want. So... he's not really being unique. He's just the only child in the shot.

[–]Phiggy113 8 points9 points ago

Herschel by Steven Spielberg coming summer 2013!

[–]cloudguardian 5 points6 points ago

Ahhh, the true story of Krusty the Clown.

[–]Dadotron 0 points1 point ago

Upvote all Krusty the Clown comments!

[–]Cynikal818 3 points4 points ago

...whenever I see a group of people take religion this seriously I trip out. To me, this is just a picture of a few hundred psychos.

So bizarre.

[–]The_Phaedron 1 point2 points ago

This above all, to thine own self be true.

Unless you like bacon. Or seeing women as equals.

In which case, disregard that first bit.

[–]briskaM 3 points4 points ago

What percent of them have glasses on?

[–]mocotazo 0 points1 point ago

Cool pic, but this has been reposted a half dozen times.

[–]weaver2109 0 points1 point ago

While searching for a name for those hats (the furry looking ones), I came across this.

[–]CaspianCobalt -1 points0 points ago

He always was the class clown in school.

[–]scigs6 0 points1 point ago

Those look like the most uncomfortable seats ever invented

[–]WeHaveMetBefore 0 points1 point ago

Then, this!

[–]happycat_ishappy 0 points1 point ago

Those hats would drive me mad in a cinema.

[–]d_r_w 0 points1 point ago

They're preparing for a Barnum Mitzvah.

[–]v1s1onsofjohanna 0 points1 point ago

I don't know why, but I love this picture. It is full of stories I can make up in my head.

[–]CaptainMogran -1 points0 points ago

[–]Nemus89 -1 points0 points ago

Krusty the Mother Fucking Clown

[–]jdmason -1 points0 points ago

[–]meatlikeproduct -1 points0 points ago

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

This is the creepiest thing I have ever seen.

[–]13deadbunnies 0 points1 point ago

Elaborate, if you will.

[–]CommandrShepherd 0 points1 point ago

Well, he's the only one with an original costume. Why are they dressed like this anyways? Some sort of cult?

[–]PUKE_DANCER -2 points-1 points ago

I am in love with the beaver skin hats they are wearing

[–]Shermanpk -2 points-1 points ago

Unless you can be Batman; always be Batman!

[–]Codeleaf -2 points-1 points ago

[–]MuteMouse -2 points-1 points ago

Damnit Krusty!

[–]Skollgrimm 0 points1 point ago

He's wearing the least ridiculous outfit there.

[–]NastyNaha 0 points1 point ago

Those are some pimp as fuck hats...

[–]CountMalachi -4 points-3 points ago

If you're referring to the clown, I fail to see how wearing a costume is being oneself.

[–]scottybcoffin -4 points-3 points ago

What is this an amish convention?

[–]-pt- -3 points-2 points ago

Krusty!

[–]pandapoopsie -3 points-2 points ago

Hey hey!

[–]LagunaWSU2 -2 points-1 points ago

This is a Jewish child being punished by his father at a gathering. I'm pretty sure if given any chance he wouldn't be wearing that...

[–]castsnoshadows 0 points1 point ago
