Ugh, working at a vet clinic I see examples of this every damn day. I see an appointment booked for:

  • A boxer with a strange lump? Probably cancer.
  • A coughing King Charles? Heart disease.
  • A vomiting Schnauzer? Pancreatitis.
  • An itchy Westie? Allergies.
  • Any small breed limping? Likely luxating patellas.
  • A bulldog coming for a spay/neuter? Better put a cherry eye repair on the surgery estimate too.
  • A pug that's not snorting? A damn miracle.

I had to stop watching that video, it was just making me angry. (Especially the bitch that culls ridge-less Ridgebacks) Everyone go adopt a healthy mutt from the shelter!

Absolutely correct. My dogs since childhood have all been cross breeds with the exception of one of the two I have just now which is an Akita. We got him as a rescue from a vet that took him in after he was found floating in a canal in London. His chip shows he is an ex show winner of the highest calibre and was a stud dog however he has hip displasia which would explain why he was abandoned what with it being heritable. Having sired probably hundreds of pups and made the original breeders thousands it seems he was not only no longer of use to them but potentially a source of being sued by those that paid what would have been a small fortune for his pups which will end up with the same medical problems.

There's a growing number of redditors of the opinion that a repost is okay if they didn't see it the first time around. Let's say the original was posted months ago, or received very few upvotes. Perhaps it was just so funny that it's nice to see it again.

However, posts titled "My friends dog" or "My autistic sister drew this picture of Bill Murray with a cat" are of a different breed. Claiming ownership of a photo that isn't yours will always get you downvoted.

I would like to add something here that (I feel) applies to more than just reposts:

I downvote posts rarely, but when I do, its usually because I feel as though the poster is just trying to get karma as opposed to trying to present something to us as an audience that they genuinely thought was interesting (or funny or whatever depending on the subreddit).

So when I see things like "I'll see your (blank) and raise you a (blank)" there can be a fine line. If I feel as though somebody is just trying to karma capitalize on a quick trend in reddit, i downvote. But if I feel like the person actually has something worthwhile that they just didn't realize was interesting until now, i upvote.
