Some back of the envelope calculations: An Olympic swimming pool is 50m long so that should also be the height of the tower. Gravity is 9.81ms-2 . Assume the top guy falls only due to gravity with no wind resistance or effects from the pivoting tower etc. Applying Newton's Laws of motion the top guy will take at least 3.19s to fall. The current world record is about 22s, so this strategy seems feasible.

However, top guy is going to hit the water at something like 27ms-1 in a straight on belly flop and it's going to fucking hurt.

Obviously there are other issues involved, so it's unlikely to work in the real world.

So I created a dynamics equation that looked at rotation of a bar about the end of it. Also took into account wind resistance. This results in a non linear differential equation so I simulated it using ode45 in Matlab and came up with the top guy going about 36 m/s right before he hits the water, that's like 80 mph, I do not think he would live ha. Too bad someone beat me to the punch, damn you backs of envelopes!

My parameters: height of tower = 50 m, mass of person = 75 kg, height of person = 1.66m, width of human body = 0.4 m, depth of human = 0.15 m, density of air = 1.2 kg/m3, Cd = 0.4, moment of inertia of tower I = (m*L3) /3 and of course g = 9.81 m/s2.

We must also factor in that he is falling in an arc and must fall a longer distance. He is essentially falling (if this is a right triangle with 50m legs) a length of ~70.7 meters. His acceleration due to gravity would be different (in a way I admittedly either cannot calculate or don't feel like remembering how to calculate) to a degree that would completely change his velocity. Finally hitting water at that height and in that position would likely cause enough internal injury to kill you.

They would all hit the water at the same time.

Think about it like a spoke on a bicycle wheel: as the spoke goes around in a circle, all points of a single spoke complete one revolution in the same time. However, the point on the spoke farthest from the center actually travels faster because it has to move at a greater distance in the same amount of time.

Due to the force of gravity being that of acceleration, the velocity of the man on the top is actually much greater than the velocity of the man on the bottom when they make contact with the water.

Someone else pointed out that an olympic pool is 50m. Over-estimating by a lot (to low-ball the actual weight), let's say 1 asian = 2m. (it's more like 1.7m on average)

So that's 24 people standing on top of one guy. According to a height-weight chart, and using the 1.7m height and "small frame" (just to under-estimate what the true weight would be, better to be under than to be over), average weight should be around 63kg.

63kg * 24 people = 1512kg (3333.3lbs)

Or, 1.2 Honda Civics.
