I learned the hard way the reason for NOT blowing on electronics... I used an air compressor to blow out an old computer and it no longer worked. Upon asking someone who is way more knowledgeable than I, they informed me that the compressed air can blast dust into the circuitry, damaging it. It makes sense if you think about it. Mouth blowing would be SAFER than air compression in that way.

          From what I've seen actually, most of the games that still use the right side for confirm and left side to cancel are all from the Japanese. Everyone else have been using the other way around since the PS2 days.

          Edit: Looking at the Xbox controller, A is on the left and B is on the right (As opposed to the Nintendo mapping of 

           + -- B A  )

          I have a Japanese PSP. In the XMB menu O is the select button but in English language games X is the select button. Confuses me every time.

          That's because O = yes and X = no in oriental cultures. You can see that in some games like Metal Gear (which refuse to change it for localisation) or Point Blank (where it's used when shooting targets to confirm the correct hit).

          They changed it I thought? O for jump x for select. My favourite example is in ffvii, I changed them to make sense for me, but apparently they don't care in chocobo breeding, so hitting x would both select and cancel. Same with O.

              You didn't have to rotate it in the console version, you just had to push left or right and the pick would move along the arc. It could be done just as well with a d-pad.

                  The sad thing is that even a passable facsimile wouldn't have been possible on the GB. Pokemon, as I understand it, pushed the system to its limits; one of the reasons the first games had so many glitches is because they had to implement so many programming tricks to get everything to fit on the cart.

                  Pokemon isn't comparable. They spent all their cartridge space on portraits and metadata for 151 monster types. Skyrim would be more like Zelda, especially in terms of gameplay.

                  Link's Awakening was half the size of Pokemon. Do you really think a map twice the size of Koholint (including its dungeons!) wouldn't be worthy of the Elder Scrolls name?

                  Ultima VII was real-time combat. Very clunky real-time combat, but real-time nonetheless. So yes, it fits TES fine :-)

                  Well, Daggerfall was released 16 years ago and isn't too chunky. If you check the bow you'll see that it actually has an even higher resolution than the Skyrim picture.

                  The second mod doesn't make the textures 8-bit though, it is a retexturing project. So they manually remake every single texture in the game into a more cartoonish mario-style. Though since the resolution doesn't change, it looks very different depending on your distance from the object.

                    Whoever did that didn't even get the colorcount right. When the bethesda Logo is shown you already have 6 colors. Plus the antialiased font doesnt work at all when divided into tiles. 90% of this was done without tiles/sprites in mind and is therefore quite unrealistic. But yeah, the idea is nice.
