Christ people, they're human fucking beings. Dehumanizing them is how people can propagate hate. These men are exactly like US vets or British vets, the only difference being they believed in fighting bolshevism.

If you mean a mix of aww and WTF THAT KITTEN GOT A GRENADE!!! ...then yeah.

[–]Nisas 8 points9 points ago

Now I'm imagining the kitten is a mad bomber, about to kill those 3 men before it got distracted by a flower.

this cat was actually a superior officer and personally brought forward and supported the installation of concentration camps in the east.

THEY'RE TEACHING A KITTEN HOW TO USE A GRANDE! THOSE BASTARDS!

[–]masterloop 3 points4 points ago

is that a grenade?

[–]DongleNocker 2 points3 points ago

15 seconds after this photo was taken, a SS officer rushed in and took the kitten to a concentration camp.

History is not a single black and white line it is often blurred gray...

[–]Liverhawk25 0 points1 point ago

Nazis were people too.

[–]Zirbs 0 points1 point ago

Sad fact: Nazi kittens are just as cute as regular kittens.

[–]danc0nia 0 points1 point ago

Nice how they have a grenade right next to it as well. I knew there had to be something off about a photo with kittens and Nazis.

[–]TorgoTheWhite 0 points1 point ago

HAHAHA! I'm gonna make him eat the grenade, then throw him at the Americans

[–]chemdata -1 points0 points ago

Not just nazis. SS members.

[–]svejkist 0 points1 point ago

Actually, based on their collar insignia. these are Estonians. IIRC, the SS had a draft in Estonia. So they may not even have been Nazis at all. And there were so few Jews in Estonia that the genocide barely even happened there. Most Estonian Jews escaped into the USSR when he Germans invaded. The Germans declared the country Judenfrei after killing just under 1000 Jews.

If you want Baltic collaboration horror stories, look at Latvia and Lithuania. BTW, Polish/Lithuanian-American Jew here.

[–]chemdata 0 points1 point ago

I am confused how being estonians made them not SS and not nazis. They were drafted by the SS? They were SS members. They were in the nazi army? They were nazis.

This is not a matter or semantics.

[–]svejkist 0 points1 point ago*

I didn't say they weren't SS. I said they may or may not be Nazis. Being drafted by the SS didn't make you a Nazi anymore than being drafted by the Whermacht made you German.

Of course if is a matter of semantics. What the hell else would it be?

EDIT: In fact, while being a volunteer member of the German SS was considered a war crime, former Estonian SS troopers served as guards at the Nuremburg court. So the Allied forces appeared to think they weren't Nazis.

see everyone, not all nazi were sadistic assholes

[–]4chans_for_pussies -2 points-1 points ago

Hey idiots, you realize Nazi conditioning involved making them raise animals only to be forced to kill them later on, right? Pick up a history book.

[–]CheeeeEEEEse -1 points0 points ago

Wow. Even the SS likes kittens.

US Soldiers? Unless they wore German covers with their M-1943s I'm not seeing any.

[–]LivesOnARock 1 point2 points ago

Er, I see three German soldiers...

My bad. My area of specialty is helmets, not uniform insignia. I'd imagine it was the collar tabs that gave it away?

[–]air21uru 0 points1 point ago

Are those really two US soldiers? I have absolutely no idea from what is visible from their uniforms...proof? Just curious as to why the three would be sitting down together all friendly like to share a laugh and a kitten cuddle. I get that soldiers are people and everything, I just don't picture the scenario that this happened in...like...

"Sir, the concentration camp is cleared and secure. What shall we do with the Nazi prisoners?"

"...Bring the kitten...and a grenade"

But yeah, Nazi's can't possibly be real people with actual feelings...sigh. I mean, sure, some were sadistic fucks and deserved to have hand grenades stuck in their buttocks, but not all. Then again, there's people like that in every armed forces.

[–]Merrinset 2 points3 points ago

No, they're not US soldiers. The closest one is also Schutzstaffel, the other two might be people though.

[–]s3rious_simon 0 points1 point ago

At least the one on the right is also a member of the Waffen-SS (skull and bones-emblem on his hat).

Anybody knows logos on the patches on the collars of the middle one and the one on the right ?

[–]Merrinset 1 point2 points ago

Oh looks like I might have been wrong. That is the insignia for the 20th Waffen Grenadier Dvision of the SS, 1st Estonian. It appears to be a volunteer shield on the farthest one's sleeve too, but it's hard to tell in black and white.

[–]s3rious_simon 0 points1 point ago

Thanks, i also suspected it to be a volunteer shield, but couldn't identify.

tl;dr: Not only 3 Members of the Waffen-SS, but also at least 2 collaborators.

[–]air21uru -1 points0 points ago

Makes much more sense now. Thankyou. And yeah, I have to agree, the SS were...yeah.

I mean, there's a reason they are tougher in the early MoH games...
