A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

This is how the Elite Four feels when you do the very same thing to them. And then use REVIVE.

[–]dimwut 34 points35 points ago

That's how I thought,but thenFUCK THEM

[–]i_am_cat 14 points15 points ago

"Oh, the Elite Four can each use a couple of potions? Screw them."

Goes into Elite Four with 80 hyper potions and 30 full revives.

[–]Cabbage_Vendor 8 points9 points ago

You have to defeat the Elite Four and the Champion without going to a pokécenter, I think it's only fair that you can use medicines.

[–]Malificus 4 points5 points ago

then use them between matches. Not spam full revives and hyper potions mid fight.

[–]Williamfoster63 63 points64 points ago

[–]Bakum 7 points8 points ago

That has to be one of the most amusing GIFs I've seen.

[–]Saint-Peer -4 points-3 points ago

[–]xnoseatbelt 5 points6 points ago

  • max revive = max rage

[–]ZeroNihilist 0 points1 point ago

Well I would argue that the difference is that you fight 4 people (or 5, at least in some games) in a row, while they just fight one person. So I don't really care what they think.

[–]Stanlot 40 points41 points ago

Original art comes from Hejibits but don't know who made the gif

[–]thatsmytrunks 9 points10 points ago

And it comes in T-Shirt form too!

[–]Guesty_ 14 points15 points ago

This is what you get for hijacking the top comment to post something unrelated to it but related to the link.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]studmuffffffin 3 points4 points ago

But it doesn't have anything to do with the comment you're replying to. A reply should be directed towards the comment, not the original post. Either make your own comment like everyone else, make another thread, or reply to the other person with a relevant comment.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]studmuffffffin 2 points3 points ago

Your comment has nothing to do with that comment. His comment is just saying the original name of the image, and yours is complaining about reactiongifs.

[–][deleted] ago*

[deleted]

[–]studmuffffffin 3 points4 points ago

Dude, no need to be an asshole about it. He was just pointing out the original, and you hijacked it to make a rant about reaction gifs. If there is a link there, it's very minimal and doesn't require a reply.

[–]isaacisaboss 6 points7 points ago

I don't like telling people how to play pokemon, but here is some tips to avoid the frustration that a lot of you are having.

You know those moves that raise your pokemon's stats? Growth, Work up, Dragon Dance, etc. Use those. If you play it smart you can max out your pokemon's stats and one shot. Or, you can alternatively ride your opponents specialdef/def to the ground. One allows you go all kill the team, the other allows multiple pokemon to be able to take down a really tough opponent. Play wisely. I see a lot of people just only use attack moves and not stat boosters.

[–]hiiamabat 0 points1 point ago

Really?

[–]isaacisaboss 3 points4 points ago

Is this a serious reply? I'm not sure...but I am going to reply seriously.

Moves that raise your stat's allow your pokemon attacks to do more damage, there is really a in depth concept of tactic in pokemon battles that a lot of casuals don't like going into. I think a physical attack is one that phsyically hits the target, and a special one is that hits him magically. in short, physical attacks take into account your physical attack power, opponents defense, and type modifiers. When you spend a few moves pumping your attack really high you can hit your target really hard. It is very feasible to one shot your opponents pokemon. Some pokemon come with a really high defense, which would suggest you want to raise your special attack, or lower their special defense.

[–]Jean_Bon 1 point2 points ago*

He is right. Those moves can help beating over leveled pokémon easily.

Increasing stats moves 101

A pokemon during a fight can increase a move for 6 points. An attack "increasing a lot a stat" gives you 2 points, the others give you 1. 2 points increased means the stat is doubled. Yes. So if you do Sword Dance and attacking with one move, it will be like doing the same move twice. Some other attack increase two different stats. Calm Mind is an excellent example of attack that can be used, increasing at the same time Spe Att and Spe Def by one point. If your opponent only has Special moves, you will feel less and less their attacks while increasing your Spe Att, helping you killing an entire team.

I remember killing an entire team on Emerald (the master guy) with a Gardevoir, by simply make the opponent falling asleep with Hypnosis and maxing stats with Calm Mind and winning with Psychic. My Pokémon was underleveled.

edit: removed the links (they finish with ")" and that make the Reddit link code bug)

[–]isaacisaboss 0 points1 point ago

your links are broken mate, but you are right. When buffing your pokemon there are 6 stages, x1.5, x2.0, x2.5, x3.0, x3.5, and x4.0. So like dragon dance, it goes 3 stages. Which means, to do Quad Attack Damage you will need to hit dragon dance 3 times, assuming the opponents pokemon do not hit you with a defense decrease move like screech

[–]Jean_Bon 0 points1 point ago

Dragon Dance increase Speed and Att by one stage each. To get them maxed, you will need to do the move 6 times. Gyrados is an excellent Dragon Dancer, if the opponent doesn't have electric move. That shit is unkillable without thunder, damn!

[–]Durrok 0 points1 point ago

In my experience I always took more damage using anything but attacks. Sure I would lower their defense, but is it enough to more then double the damage that I would have done just by attacking twice? This means the fight last longer, my pokemon gets hit more, and I have to go back to the pokecenter more often.

Honestly I love when the AI "bugs" out and they just keep using their stat lowering moves over and over while my pokemon destroys them. Easiest fights ever.

[–]isaacisaboss 0 points1 point ago

Does the fight really last longer when the trainer is not allows to use potions? It depends on a case by case basis. If you can get a pokemon down to ~45% health with an attack, then kil him with the same attack the second turn - It is most likely better then killing him in 3 turns(2 levels of stat boosting, 1killing blow one shot). But now lets say the trainer brings out his second pokemon - you now kill him faster, even though you killed the first pokemon took 3 turns, the second pokemon will take 1 turn. See, it pays for itself rather fast.

Lets look at the other outcome. You use an attack, and it gets him down to ~10%. Now the trainer heals and if you use the same attack again, it will get down to another 10%. Now you can either kill it, or wait another turn if he used a potion. this can be avoided by hitting a stat booster, then an attack. He didn't get to use a potion, if he got one shot. Its very subjective - which is why pokemon is really fun.

[–]kjdanen 23 points24 points ago

I just realized I always think I'm killing my opponents pokemon...not fainting them...

[–]firedfns13 14 points15 points ago

I choose Hand Gun!

Hand Gun uses Hollow Points!

It's super effective!

[–]Tuqui0 1 point2 points ago

Enemy is suffering from bleeding.

[–]albequirky 8 points9 points ago

The trick is to get them above 25%, so that they're never in the red, and never use their full restore.

This is why I prefer keeping some of the weaker (strength of 70-90) moves around. More PP too.

[–]ferna182 3 points4 points ago

that is the best strategy. if your strong attack will deal about 90% of damage, then don't use it. use a weak one first... one that you are certain is going to do 40% damage or so. THEN use your strong attack. simple as that.

[–]albequirky 2 points3 points ago

Yep. Also, leech seed was probably my life-saver for the Elite Four. Since grass-types are pretty much obsolete by then, they were essentially a shield used to leech and paralyze so that the rest of my team could cruise.

[–]TwelveXII -2 points-1 points ago

Nah, use the 90% one over and over so they blow their full restores.

[–]Latyon 4 points5 points ago

That face...it's like Lumpy Space Haunter.

[–]nommas 1 point2 points ago

My proudest achievement in Pokemon is being able to defeat the elite 4 and the champion using only my Metagross. Granted, he is not my favourite pokemon but god damn, he's the strongest.

[–]DemonstrativePronoun 1 point2 points ago

No clue how many times I've flipped off this game.

[–]DubiumGuy 1 point2 points ago

I am clueless about pokemon but just commenting as Elite 4 means something different to this old person.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_4

[–]chris_wilson 0 points1 point ago

I was also excited for a second when I saw "Elite 4" :-(

[–]kaltorak 2 points3 points ago

HAUNTER used DOUBLE DEUCE!

It's not very effective...

[–]KimchiMaster 3 points4 points ago

[–]Derpface123 2 points3 points ago

My strategy in Pokemon Emerald was this:

  1. Climb tower on island
  2. Don't ragequit (that shit was so hard to climb)
  3. Catch Rayquaza using master ball
  4. Use item duplication glitch to level Rayquaza to 100
  5. Proceed to Elite Four
  6. OUTRAGE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM BITCHES

[–]JayceMJ 11 points12 points ago

I cut down the amount of steps:

  1. Use item duplication glitch to level any pokemon to 100
  2. Proceed to Elite Four
  3. _____ THE SHIT OUT OF THEM BITCHES

[–]Christemo 5 points6 points ago

splash?

[–]Cygnus_X1 31 points32 points ago

[–]MrBokbagok 11 points12 points ago

[–]sakuredu 1 point2 points ago

HOLY SHIT.

[–]Cygnus_X1 0 points1 point ago

I saw a similar video where some guy uses it as a sweeper. I plan on training a magikarp to troll my friends over the summer.

[–]Christemo 8 points9 points ago

GARY OAK. PROFFESIONAL MOTHERFUCKER

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I like how in other Pokedex entries, it describes Magikarp as only being able to jump 7 ft in the air at best.

[–]All-American-Bot 7 points8 points ago

(For our friends outside the USA... 7 ft -> 2.1 m) - Yeehaw!

[–]Cabbage_Vendor 2 points3 points ago

At best? it can jump more than 3 times its own height, let's see you do that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Gold Pokedex description: "It may jump high on rare occasions, but never more than seven feet."

I meant to quote that, but the wording didn't quite match up. The authors of these really bash on Magikarp pretty hard sometimes, so I wouldn't have put it past them to scoff at him for his "pathetic" jump height.

Here's what I mean though (taken from Ruby Pokedex): "Magikarp is a pathetic excuse for a Pokémon that is only capable of flopping and splashing. This behavior prompted scientists to undertake research into it."

According to this, Magikarp is such a piece of shit that scientists actually undertook a research project to figure out how it could be so shitty. Ouch.

[–]Todomanna 1 point2 points ago

Isn't Shuckle supposed to be able to make the strongest attack in the game? I don't have an infographic to back up my claim, but I remember it from somewhere.

[–]dm287 1 point2 points ago

Close. If yuo use the attack "Power Trick" its defense and attack stats are swapped. Since it has by far the highest defense, after using it it has the highest attack. It's a bit useless though, since it has the lowest speed in the game too, and after one hit it'll die (since its defense has been switched).

[–]hydex 1 point2 points ago

It's only theorical, since there's no way to apply it, but here it is

[–]vagabond_dilldo 6 points7 points ago

For the love of your own pokemon, please don't shove rare candies down their throat. EV train them please...

[–]shutup_shinji 4 points5 points ago

You hardly need to EV train to play the regular game. Anything over level 80 can pretty much destroy everything.

However, if you're guna go competitive, EV train everything all the time.

[–]vagabond_dilldo 1 point2 points ago

It's just a habit, really. Get used to EV training so I don't have to train new ones for Battle Tower/Island

[–]Deadmirth 2 points3 points ago

Current gen you can ev train at level 100. The more you know.

[–]vagabond_dilldo 1 point2 points ago

Stopped at Gen 3. Couldn't afford a DS back then, and now there's too many games to catch up on... iirc, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Black/White

[–]cchsbball23 0 points1 point ago

GBA emu on android phones! do it

[–]conaan 2 points3 points ago

My phone wont dl the roms, where do you get your roms from?

[–]cchsbball23 0 points1 point ago

i just use roms4droid.com. There are some other sites too, just have to google em.

[–]vagabond_dilldo 1 point2 points ago

Can't afford smart phones either! xD I did play up to Gen 3 for a while on a GBA emulator on the computer, but I haven't tried DS emulators. Do they even exist?

[–]cchsbball23 0 points1 point ago

Im sure it does. I cant quite stomach the newer gen stuff, it just feels weird. I got used to red/blue/yellow years back and the newer ones feel so foreign!

[–]vagabond_dilldo 0 points1 point ago

Some of them look quite fun, I watched a friend play Black version, and some of the new mechanics look pretty awesome. Most notable change is the physical-vs-special damage type change.
I would start Gen IV on a DS emulator right now, but Diablo 3 is in 7 days 16 hours 27 minutes and 10 seconds...

[–]silentkill144 0 points1 point ago

This is what I do, when an Elite 4 any trainer uses Full Restore when I'm about to faint their pokemon

FTFY

[–]awoh 0 points1 point ago

I don't because I know they will do it

[–]Bronan_the_Brobarian 0 points1 point ago

You get a free hit on em after, if it's not a move that can bring em back to red, you're doing it wrong

[–]SaraAmoo 0 points1 point ago

I've noticed that it's MUCH easier to defeat the Elite 4 in the newer games. No challenge at all -_____-

[–]Azumango 0 points1 point ago

I open a song at the same time I clicked on this gif. The result made me laugh a lot harder than I have in a good while.

[–]Amigobear 0 points1 point ago

That blue backdrop looks very familiar I wonder where is could have come from......

[–]takutani 0 points1 point ago

You might have actually killed their pokemon if you'd had a Gengar...just sayin'...

[–]Juttore 0 points1 point ago

fuck them, they knew who i was sending out and when

[–]jbrittles 0 points1 point ago

Im just going to assume you mean you remove your own hands

[–]Bewbtube 0 points1 point ago

What I do is I load up the AR code that allows me to catch trainer's pokemon and I fucking throw a masterball at that shit. I always reboot before the save but it makes me feel so good to think "YEAH I COULD BE A COMPLETE ASSHOLE AND KEEP THIS MOTHERFUCKER."

[–]Erotomania085 0 points1 point ago

In Black/White, Bel/Bianca was the most annoying of the two rivals for me because she didn't seem to have a limit on how many Restores she could use. Generally, the Elite Four will only use one Restore per Pokemon, but that bitch would spam them.

[–]dr4m4g33k 0 points1 point ago

Goddamn Elite Four! The first time that happened to me I wanted to call Nintendo and accuse them of cheating. How dare your NPCs get the same privileges as me?!

[–]JaredTheNarwhal 0 points1 point ago

Funny, i used a haunter for the E4.

[–]levantingtunesmith 0 points1 point ago

Who shot who in the what now?

[–]GuitarGuru253 0 points1 point ago

And then the pokemon you're using runs out of PP and you can't restore that so you just sit there and die haha

[–]epicbanhammer 0 points1 point ago

I dont give them a chance to use a full revive. Thank you OHKO!

[–]Irrel_M 0 points1 point ago

Emboar usually doesn't have that problem.

HEAT CRASH ALL THE POKEMON.

[–]doctorpotterhead 0 points1 point ago

Haha. I love it.

[–]apparatuscriticus 0 points1 point ago
