except for another man, strangely enough

[–]mapoftasmania 8 points9 points ago

No. A triangular marriage between two men and a woman seems to be fine just so long as one if the men is dead. So necrobisexuality is OK.

[–]_Nostalgia_ 2 points3 points ago

I upvoted that purely because of the necrobisexuality. Though it involves your brother, so I believe that means it's incestuous-necrobisexuality

Yeah, the Bible is strangely quiet on homosexuality. Makes you wonder what all the hullaballoo really is all about.

[–]santa4nt 1 point2 points ago

Buttsex.

[–]NumbRiggerDisks 0 points1 point ago

Maybe if we all just meditated on it as much as Rick Santorum does, we'd understand why it is so naturally deplorable to (some) Christians.

[–]RepostThatShit 0 points1 point ago

It isn't really that quiet about it, it just says it's an abomination and that's why it doesn't go into detail about what a homosexual marriage would entail.

[–]NumbRiggerDisks -1 points0 points ago

Actually, it doesn't. The only passage in the Bible specifically referring to homosexuality is referring to abusive, man-boy relationships, for which it is more specifically condemning the abusive aspect. That's the one I can think of that is taken out of context most often.

[–]RepostThatShit 0 points1 point ago

I think the passage that's quoted most often is "You shall not lie with a man, as with a woman: it is abomination." and it isn't about pederasty or 'man-boy' relationships or about any specific aspect thereof. So what's the one you had in mind?

[–]NumbRiggerDisks 1 point2 points ago

You're right. I forget the farce which is Leviticus. I can't remember where the passage is located. Despite being nihilist myself, I have a good deal of historical knowledge surrounding the Bible, due almost purely to being raised by a Baptist, Biblical scholar - and that was the comment he made on the subject to me, when I asked him how I could console a friend. The friend was 'struggling' with feelings of being gay and simultaneously, Christian; this resulted in an inordinate amount of self-hatred. Probably more context than any of you needed.

You're thinking of Paul's letter to the Corinthians. It's in either Cor 1 or Cor 2, and he's addressing the people at this church

Yes, and as we all know, infinite women can never equal a man.

I feel like r/foreveralone wrote the old testament.

[–]jchillin89 2 points3 points ago

I like the part about the rapist paying for loss of property.

[–]themcp 2 points3 points ago

So, I really love this graphic.

But it gets posted here all the time.

[–]VGAPixel 2 points3 points ago

according to this marriage is a contract of slavery between a man and any woman.

[–]gmick 0 points1 point ago

It's about property ownership. Some men are slaves and can be treated as property. All women are property. This clearly came from an omnipotent, all-powerful and loving God. There's no way that this is just some institutionalized bullshit dreamed up by men.

[–]This-Was-Insightful 1 point2 points ago

Here's another thing about Christians.

See, you quote that rapist verse to them, tell 'em that women had to marry their own rapists, and they'll tell you rightly that it was probably best for the woman because she was seen as damaged goods from then on.

Here's an idea, god: why didn't you just fuckin' tell them that women weren't property to begin with? "Hey now, humans, don't go having buttsex; that's bad! Don't be mixing types of fabrics either; horrible stuff!" Slavery and treating women as property? No mention at all.

How fuckin' convenient for the people writing the Bible who believed the same fuckin' thing as god.

The video is pretty dumb

[–]Londonsawsum 0 points1 point ago

pretty much sum it up. Even as a christian myself, I think all this marriage thing is a load of BS. God loves gays as much as everyone else so no one, Theist or not (mostly theists) should say, "Oh, don't let them marry because they're not sexually attracted to the opposite sex. They're going to hell for it. It really pisses me off! No one has the right to judge someone or even say, "they're going to hell," because they know good and well they sin too and are really no better than a murder in God's eyes if they weren't saved.

I'm not trying to convert anyone, I swear, but I just had to voice my opinion since I seem to be one of the few rational Christians I know in RL (I live in a southern US (small) city where atheists are common, but crazy religious nuts are everywhere you turn) and on the internet.

[–]This-Was-Insightful 0 points1 point ago

If you're still a Christian, you're not rational yet.

[–]Londonsawsum 0 points1 point ago

I admit, I am an irrational person, but everyone's irrational in their own way, not just religionwise

[–]This-Was-Insightful 0 points1 point ago

Some more than others. If you find your beliefs are irrational you should probably stop believing them.

[–]Londonsawsum 0 points1 point ago

I don't find what I believe irrational, just the people who take religion too far. I might one day in the future become atheist or I may not. Until then, I will figure out what I believe on my own. Thank you for talking to me and I apologize if I sounded rude in the least bit

  • The bible is fucked up

[–]joeblessyou 0 points1 point ago

I like the idea of having a wife and many concubines. It's sexist and immoral but I still like it.

[–]WeaponsGradeHumanity 0 points1 point ago

It looks like christians are going to start claiming marriages must be monoandrist in response to this argument.

I don't care if it's a repost, it will always be valid.
