Here's the video that it's from! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fbahS7VSFs

[–]Lintron 14 points15 points ago

Apparently lions hate striped hoodies.

[–]Ozlin 5 points6 points ago

Actually this is intriguing. Any zoologist people care to chime in? Is there something about the stripes that make these children more visible through the glass? The likeness to baby zebra?

[–]sgturtle 15 points16 points ago

It's clear glass seperating a lion, and a mouth-sized snack. Im fairy sure it has nothing to do with his striped jumper... The lion simply wants to fucking eat him.

[–]joe_eL 4 points5 points ago

Saw this video on a news site and they said that the stripes make them look like zebra calfs.

[–]canehdianchick 2 points3 points ago

Honestly.. not an expert by any means.. but I spent 2 months at an animal refuge in Namibia.. and small children weren't allowed any of the big cats-- including the orphaned cheetah who had been raised with people its whole life-- as the vulnerable small child thing constantly triggered a prey drive. Even the most trustworthy couldn't be trusted with something that looked like such an easy meal.

That all being said-- this video makes me despise zoos more than I already do.

[–]VonKressenstein 0 points1 point ago

Thank you, zoos are disgusting.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Even if many of them help take care of endangered species?

[–]canehdianchick 1 point2 points ago

They use this claim so that they can bastardize a species more than humans already have.. You think living in a cage saves a species? If they run a program that is out doors away from human interaction and does release and have a great turn over rate-- then they are serving a purpose.. If they are locking up the last surviving members of a species for human entertainment.. and feeding them into obesity and atrophe-- they are not being beneficial. There's a book I can't remember the name of right now on the exotic animal trade (specifically marsupials and reptiles ) it is how they bastardized the image of saving species in order to collect and capture creatures from the wild and place them in zoos-- many of the times paying locals to destroy whole colonies of these species in order to find several of the most aesthetically appeasing members. It is all a farce that many buy into. It's no different than seaworld supplementing the dolphin culling in Japan in order to get a few good specimens.

[–]thelaughingbuddha 0 points1 point ago

Makes them look like zebras.

[–]Threedawg 10 points11 points ago

Kid = 0 fucks.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]snoharm 18 points19 points ago

If you have quadruplets, do your kids equal .25 fucks?

[–]bjwashndry 12 points13 points ago

If you have quadruplets, you more than likely used In vitro fertilisation, which of course, equals zero fucks.

[–]jonathanrdt 1 point2 points ago

You can simply have overdone ovulation meds, which usually necessitate several fucks over a period.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]munchybot 2 points3 points ago

That's not how quadruplets work.

[–]snoharm 0 points1 point ago

...If you're a cat, yes.

[–]sensedata 22 points23 points ago

I like to think GGL was just going to pick him up by his nape in order to take him back to the den and breast feed him.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

I'm glad I wasn't alone in that conclusion. Edit: or, fantasy.

[–]Cheeseball701 0 points1 point ago

He looks quite a bit more ferocious in the full video.

[–]Hyperdrunk 4 points5 points ago

*She

[–]sroshi 20 points21 points ago

nah I'm just cleaning the glass

[–]kimbrough 26 points27 points ago

[–]darkly39r 7 points8 points ago

It... It's too perfect...

[–]Psythik 0 points1 point ago

Why does that website hate me? It never loads the gif.

[–]Jimmyybooy 4 points5 points ago

Reverse .Gif where are you?!

[–]VTJP 7 points8 points ago

Above you!

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points ago

This clip was on our "news" program just now. It was an embarrassment for both the lion and the newsreader, though only the lion noticed.

[–]burgess_meredith_jr 13 points14 points ago

Saw it on my local evening "news" program last night. They now have a daily segment devoted to broadcasting YouTube videos. You really do feel bad for the anchors.

[–]ivebeenhereallsummer 12 points13 points ago

I think it was Anderson Cooper where I saw this clip last night. He actually said, "Thank goodness for glass." As if there was some way for the same situation to occur but without the glass enclosure. A zoo perhaps where the animals roam free among the visitors. I honestly don't know what was going on in his mind but I assume he was just gibbering to keep the words coming out of his face hole while the light on the camera was on.

[–]Pollo_Bueno 3 points4 points ago

two way petting zoo, you pet the animals, they pet you back

TV news these days, "Now happening on Twitter!"

Hey assholes, if I wanted to see Twitter I'll go on Twitter. Don't they realize that they're only highlighting their own irrelevance?

[–]burgess_meredith_jr 5 points6 points ago

Exactly.

I work in advertising and the first rule is to create differentiation between your product and the competition. These idiots are doing the exact opposite. It's like, "Hey, the "the internet" is real popular ... let's copy them!".

What they should be doing is saying, "leave the fluff to Twitter and Facebook, as popular as it is, that battle is lost - we can't compete. Let's focus on areas where we can believable and credible: our heritage of local relevance and legitimate reporting."

Won't happen and it's a shame.

[–]drgk 2 points3 points ago

BUT HOLOGRAMS AND MULTITOUCH MONITORS!!!!

[–]Shruglife 0 points1 point ago

Cable news caters to old people who dont know how a Twitter or a youtube works

[–]kkurbs[S] 3 points4 points ago

Tosh.0?

Oh wait, that's ANCIENT youtube clips

[–]CampHope 0 points1 point ago

This was on Good Morning America either this morning or yesterday, which is a national American morning show. I'm not certain if they call themselves a "news" show or not, but it's a prime example of the media catering to the lowest common denominators.

[–]RyVal 0 points1 point ago

what's embarrassing is that it showed up on the news the day before yesterday, at least 20 people on my facebook posted it and it was forwarded to me by my mom...and reddit is only seeing it now.

[–]morescience -1 points0 points ago

Yeah the anchors on my local "news" were actually shocked by the video, as if the child were in any kind of real danger at all, or as if it didn't deserve to be mauled for just sitting there while its parent watched. People are dumb, methinks.

[–]theonegreatx -1 points0 points ago

Where's Harry Potter when you need him?

[–]POTATO_ANAL_ETC 53 points54 points ago

He's uh, busy, if you know what I mean.

[–]larkable 1 point2 points ago

That whole scene with Ricky Gervais was funny as fuck.

EXTRAS

[–]jonathanrdt 1 point2 points ago

I bet the lion picks up the kid by the scruff of his hood and carries him away to raise in the ways of captivity, to learn the life of a kept beast with meat aplenty.

[–]jhangel77 7 points8 points ago

All the lion wants is a little bite. stop teasing the lioness with the baby zebra.

[–]Eryan36 7 points8 points ago

"Waitwaitwait, I got one, I got one: Make mine a cub sandwich, whachu think?"

[–]mathmaticalz 23 points24 points ago

probably thinks its a zebra!

[–]actingSmart 10 points11 points ago

Somehow, I doubt that lion is familiar with zebras.

[–]fuego890 11 points12 points ago

It's instinctive.

[–]andrewchi 15 points16 points ago*

Their ancestors tell them in their dreams who they are, what they are to eat, and why it was Adam who gave them names.

[–]adapt_and_laugh 4 points5 points ago

what is this from?

[–]AsylumTeaparty 11 points12 points ago

and why it was Adam who gave them names

Some old fiction novel called "The bible"

[–]Shruglife 4 points5 points ago

Oh I read that one, it was hilarious!

[–]andrewchi 1 point2 points ago

Haha, I wrote it. But I kind of lifted it out from one of my vignettes so I can't take credit for creating it on the spot.

[–]Koppis 0 points1 point ago

Simba...

[–]TheManWithNoSpleen 0 points1 point ago

I'm curious too, this sounds very poetic.

[–]brosenfeld 6 points7 points ago

Maybe she wants to pick it up by the scruff of its neck, take it, and raise it as her own.

[–]dbz253 2 points3 points ago

Because she knows if she can get one of them on her side, they just might have a chance of escape.

[–]Rock_My_Socks 4 points5 points ago

This is at the Portland zoo! I know no one cares but I'VE SEEN THIS LION!!!

[–]kkurbs[S] 1 point2 points ago

Are the 90's alive in Portland? Portland Portland?

[–]Rock_My_Socks 0 points1 point ago

Yeah and I came here in my 20's to retire.

[–]gufdon-upon-labur 5 points6 points ago

[–]pugwalker 0 points1 point ago

japan is weird

[–]v4-digg-refugee 4 points5 points ago

You know how I know we're the dominant species? We put our children directly in front of you and there's nothing you can do about it. And we laugh.

[–]Genmaken 3 points4 points ago

Wouldn't it be funny if that kid grew up to become Hitler reborn? And only the Lion knew!

...guys?

[–]kram123 2 points3 points ago

It hurts my jaw watching this.

[–]dgd765 2 points3 points ago

Heres a first, seeing something on the news before it's circulating on reddit

[–]Honey_Cheese 5 points6 points ago

You should stop torturing that lion and feed her a baby

[–]mash3735 2 points3 points ago

so the lion is atheist?

i jest. they dont eat babies.

[–]king_hippo77 1 point2 points ago

He's wearing a Hoodie! GET HIM!

[–]mash3735 1 point2 points ago

no tea? no skittles?

[–]aboeve 1 point2 points ago

What the hell, stop torturing that lion and give it the baby.

[–]HardtoReadIlIllIlllI 1 point2 points ago

maybe its trying to pick it up so it can take it back to its nest and raise it like in jungle book

[–]DeflowSC2 1 point2 points ago

As i heard someone say, "quit torturing that poor lion and feed it the baby!"

[–]swimcris 0 points1 point ago

Open wide!

[–]Bodilis 0 points1 point ago

Nom nom nom nom babies.

[–]blandz87 0 points1 point ago

I actually saw this on CNN at 4:30am this morning. Usually, it's the other way around, I see something on Reddit before I see it on the news lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Typical lanister

[–]feeblemuffin 0 points1 point ago

i saw the news, too!

[–]verymuchly 0 points1 point ago

Well, to be fair the kid did show up looking rather zebra-like.

[–]Untitledone 0 points1 point ago

I am having fun downvoting and flagging as spam the comments posted by all caps guy "Archonis".

[–]rollinfree 0 points1 point ago

" This cat thinks Zebras are delicious! "Post this 3 days ago, got 0 up votes, why why why......

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

It thinks that the human baby is it's babeh.

[–]rasta_lion 0 points1 point ago

Quit torturing him and feed him the child

[–]wolfyjay -1 points0 points ago

Omg! If I saw this happening to my baby is be like..."lol! That's cute. She's trying to... Oh shit!"

Thank you captain obvious

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Just think, if not for that glass, zoos would still use iron bars.

[–]Daidra -2 points-1 points ago

I don't care if there's a protective barrier there, my protective instincts would have kicked in immediately. There's no way I'd film a lion attempting to eat my child and find it "cute" or "funny".

[–]Bell_Biv_WillemDafoe -3 points-2 points ago

I'm Poland.
