I agree, I happen to be part of a more libral denomination that does not hate ANYONE so its frustrating when I'm lumped in with the more conservative groups because they get more attention.

I don't understand why its up to those of us on one end of things to try to change the minds of those on the other extreme. They might as well be of a completely different religion, you have to understand the difference is a bigger divide than atheism and christianity. I cringe every time someone speaks in "the name of christianity".

My dads philosophy is that the basic take-away is, "be nice to other people" and thats it. Nothing else.

Look, take /r/atheism off your subreddits, then you will avoid a majority of it. Add /r/Christianity so you can feel more welcome. Yes, some jokes at christians you will still see, but if you can't get over seeing some jokes then you may as well disconnect the internet, you will ALWAYS see stuff that offends you.

As an atheist, I have to say I am sorry. People being an asshole to you because you are religious is pretty screwed up. I do have to agree with some of the other comments in that we (atheists) get a lot of shit from religious folk in real life. I guess it is a sense of comfort that they have not having to deal with the physical part of social interactions.

you know what? you're absolutely right. it's time for me to turn over a new leaf, to start out new. it doesn't matter what a website says to me, what matters is that i learn to shut my mouth and deal with it. i respect your religious views, and that is all. it's not like some rule where i have to cram my religion down your throat, that's just bad taste, regardless of religion.
