Wrong. Eventually humans will integrate their bodies with their technology to the point that the "machines" become part of the being itself.

Eventually metal and plastics will be replaced by proteins and other organic materials. Once our integrated technology reaches the point where it is completely self sustaining/replicating and is passed on to our children through the normal course of procreation we will cease to be Homo sapiens and will become Homo Superior: the next phase of our evolution. The first phase we engineered ourselves. It's a foregone conclusion.

We will no longer interface with our mechanisms, we will become them.

I desperately hope we take some reasonable steps towards the singularity in my lifetime. The internet will become a literal hivemind.

have you seen the internet lately? that would be terrible!

You have to imagine how different the world would be if nobody had secrets. Nobody could lie or have ulterior motives. Everyone would have instant access to the most intelligent thought and the most base thought all at once. Religion/stupidity would fall away into the ether as massive technological strides are taken in months what took us decades before. It would be one unified Earth and then we'll have dyson spheres. Probably Borg cubes.. er... I gave away the secret plan.

That somewhat reminded me of the really fucking awesome Deus Ex trailer.

I have never wanted something to be a movie so bad in my life.

They have that now. Stick a lap band on or suck the fat out or laser it off. It's cost-prohibitive as a long term health solution but should become more affordable as time passes. (Toilets used to be a luxury, after all.)

No significant evolution has occurred for some. People getting fat is a cultural change, not a genetic one, though I will admit that the genetics of humans is adapting to a more sedentary lifestyle and a more robust waistline.

I fail to see how that works. Evolution is not Lamarkism.

If anything, because sexual attraction is positively linked with a small weight and a lithe body, those persons will be selected for, and in turn breed people either with faster metabolism.

I don't think that it is an evolutionary/genetic thing. More of a societal thing. There are other countries where the opposite is true.

Wall-E

[–]catdoctor 9 points10 points ago

Uh... no. Your cartoon describes western history, not evolution.

This has nothing to do with atheism...

[–]bauhauso 1 point2 points ago

That's simply not true.

[–]Jun3Bug 0 points1 point ago

The guy inflates like a burning marshmallow.

[–]ArsenalOwl 0 points1 point ago

So when does Wall-E show up?

[–]raritthaler 0 points1 point ago

Very creative.

I was hoping that it went further and the humans would evolve into something similar to the advisors from HL2.

Objection! This is conjecture.

False. Vikings never wore horned helmets in battle. That's just silly.
