Seriously? It's a child mistake. "Of" is not remotely the word being said. It's much more of a legitimate complaint than, for instance, forgetting which then/than to use.

Not necessarily. While you need starfighter pilots for an insterstellar war, you can have starfighter pilots without interplanetary/interstellar war - the same way a country can have a land army without starting a war. (hint: plenty of countries maintain an army without using it aggressively all the time)
