I have been driving for a living since 19, so that makes it a little over 11 years. Over those 11 years, I noticed that it wasn't those riding choppers that were a nuisance, it was the idiots on Japanese crotch rockets. Sydney roads are dangerous as they are without these menaces behind and beside me. Choppers are fun to look at and watch, and if someone wants to spend money on ape hangers and drilled pipes, why not? Stop your bitching and close your windows!

On that note, the guy is driving a chopper that looks like that, I am sure that he sits at intersections revving his engine to get attention. I have never seen a chopper rider behave considerately when there is a sidewalk full of people that could be looking at him.

Bullshit. Drilling holes in your pipes and revving your engine in an enclosed space is brutally dangerous when other drivers are jumping out of their seats.
And how, exactly, does revving your engine at a stop light in the middle of the night save any lives? Do you really need to wake people up in order to be safe?
It's not about saving lives. It's about compensating for failures in other parts of their lives and being an inconsiderate douche.

And as a final point, why don't bike cops feel the need to rev their engines in traffic and at intersections or modify their pipes? I would imagine that people that make their living on the backs of motorcycles would have the most interest in saving their own lives from people in outdoor seating at restaurants and pedestrians.

A 4-stroke has a lower note to it, a definitely present bass. There are, at best, minimal benefits to someone riding with loud pipes as opposed to somewhat-loud pipes or stock pipes.
Honestly, if you can see the guy with the t-shirt rather than a motorcycle protective gear, they're being pretty idiotic. It's odd that someone would claim the pipes are for their protection but neglect to wear gear.

Absolutely. The looks on their faces bear that out when people are forced to stop and look at them.
If you feel the need to rev your engine, save it for the highway and stop being assholes to pedestrians and other people that are outside.
You clearly have no experience dealing with what is a very real noise pollution problem, so I suggest that until you get a better understanding of what the actual issues are, stop trotting out that "pipes save lives" mantra. It doesn't apply and only makes you look even more like the white trash these assholes are.

Some bikers rev their engines to keep the bike running because of the way it is tuned. As far as police not doing it I'm not positive but it probably has something to do with staying uniform across the country. There are noise ordinances in many communities that would make that illegal.
