Should definitely cross post this to dark souls subreddit. Hysterical XD

[–]doperat 11 points12 points ago

that was fucking awesome and effective considering the position he could have been in.. who is this man?

[–]Confucius_says 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty sure that was a joke. someone posts that everytime this gif gets reposted.

[–]cakedestroyer 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit, the same Shamrock that was in the WWF in the late 90s? The Most Dangerous Man in the World?!

[–]cjcrashoveride 0 points1 point ago

One and the same. There is a handful of "professional wrestlers" that had their start or made their way into MMA.

[–]invalid_font_size 0 points1 point ago

There's Ken and Frank, brothers. Both with somewhat similar backgrounds.

As a former Tae Kwon Do instructor, I can confirm that this is how all five year olds spar.

[–]MistakeMistake 0 points1 point ago

I tried not to, but I did crack a smile

[–]OneSchott 0 points1 point ago

The person laughing pushed me over the edge.

[–]slipperyfist 0 points1 point ago

I've taught kids as young as 5 and 6 to spar. I've seen some goofy little kid sparring, but I've never taught any kids to do... that.

The way it's done in this country, absolutely not. If a child is given a rigorous training regimen at a young age they can be a magnificent martial artist by adulthood but two or three lessons a week of 45 minutes in a mcdojo learning take yo dough isn't going to teach a child jack shit. It's a waste of money but then again the majority of martial arts instruction in America is a waste of money. Most of them are designed to sell equipment.

[–]CrabStance 18 points19 points ago

I can attest to this, spent 11 years in that shit because my parents are bad people. I was one of the better lifers at the school when I was in my 20s I was introduced to grappling and found everything I knew was totally pointless compared to the first day of grappling. It was a brutal lesson learned. But hey, at least my instructor turned out to be a pedo that was banging my girlfriend so I got that going for me.

[–]slipperyfist 8 points9 points ago

Really? Tell me more about how training for years in a striking martial art didn't prepare you for grappling.

[–]thegreatpiratemorgan 4 points5 points ago

this... this is gold.

[–]bowtiesnfezzesrcool 1 point2 points ago

Really? No one wanted to hear more about the banging of his girlfriend? Just me?

[–]Gromlick 3 points4 points ago

For kids that age, I'd have a hard time arguing that we provided much more than a glorified babysitting service. They have a lot of fun with it though.

If they stick with it (and some do), there's a lot to be learned about culture, discipline, competition, humility, and maybe even a little self defense. For a lot of kids it's just a really good physical outlet where they don't really have another one. I should note that it's also pretty badass to be able to tell people as a young teenager that you have a black belt in a martial art.

[–]slipperyfist 0 points1 point ago

I've seen 4 and 5 year olds be pretty good at tkd. That said, most 4-5 year olds don't get hardly anything out of it. 6 is a pretty decent age to start, but I've also taught 11-18 year olds that weren't mature enough.

[–]simloi 9 points10 points ago

I thought you were going to post this.

[–]BrowncoatDoctor 6 points7 points ago

I imagine this is how low-level League of Legends matches look to a pro player.

[–]chazaaam 0 points1 point ago

actually it would be the other way around since there are way more kills in a low lvl game :p

[–]The_Dane 3 points4 points ago

this once again proves my theory that asian babies and toddlers are the cutest

[–]riggsinator 1 point2 points ago

IDK, those noises and high pitched yaaa yaaa yaaa yaaa type stuff reminded me too much of high school and how I was sandwiched between the lockers of about 6 Korean girls.

I just don't want to hear that at 7 AM.

[–]Daroo425 0 points1 point ago

And they have their yellow belts. What a crock of shit lol. Joe rogan is completely correct when it comes to TKD

[–]Tails94 -2 points-1 points ago

so u repost the top comment from this repost, repostception

[–]Geaux 4 points5 points ago

I was at that fight. Fucking boring as Hell. Shamrock didn't wanna do anything but dance. It was so boring, a guy in the stands started getting belligerent and was tazed by the cops.

[–]Zekattack 1 point2 points ago

Was this in Louisiana?

[–]Geaux 0 points1 point ago

lafayette. yep.

[–]llahlahkje 4 points5 points ago

Totally having King Hippo flashbacks...

[–]Easilyconfusedyo 5 points6 points ago

"Whew, I'm knackered, should we call it a draw?"

Dark Souls PVP in a nutshell.

[–]squiggothhunter 5 points6 points ago

If you kick, you're supposed to kick all the way around until you are facing your opponent again. Knowing he half-assed it, he tried an inverted guard roll to try and hook an ankle. When that utterly failed, he rolled again to get distance so he could stand up again.

Sloppy and slow, but technically admirable from a fat guy

[–]Kracus 1 point2 points ago

I think the half kick was intentional as a feint to goad him into trying to go down and grab him. If he had leaned in to tackle him his face would have met his foot which would have been the actual blow he was trying to land.

[–]hobofats 1 point2 points ago

Sloppy and slow, but technically admirable from a fat guy

especially since that looked like it was towards the end of a fight. people who have never been in competitive fighting like MMA or boxing have no idea how physically exhausting the sport is.

[–]TBatWork 1 point2 points ago

I think he was laying an oil slick of back sweat to try and get his opponent off balance.

[–]trae84 1 point2 points ago

Haha, I didn't see that coming.

[–]PropagandaMan 1 point2 points ago

If only he'd hit the first kick, then he was to engage in an awesome air combo...

[–]long_live_king_melon 1 point2 points ago

Someone's been playing too much Dark Souls.

[–]bijibijmak 1 point2 points ago

Just like when you're playing a video game with a new character and have no idea what the key combinations are.

[–]gonzorider 1 point2 points ago

DO A BARREL ROLL!

[–]SkateboardG 1 point2 points ago

SPIN MOVE!.....SPIN MOVE!

"Did it work?"

[–]_Ravist_ 1 point2 points ago

Do a barrel roll.

[–]Paultimate79 1 point2 points ago

Not sure if people post this joking or serious..

Anyway its a good move to recover from a vulnerable position, keeps the legs fly'n around. Hard to tackle something like that. If the other dude went down to grab him after that sad faint of a kick he would have received a face full of foot.

[–]Kracus 0 points1 point ago

Yeah I agree that's a pretty nice move and the second roll was for good measure. You see his foot go up and if your face is coming down that would be a nasty hit.

[–]KoreanTerran 1 point2 points ago

Seems like Blake Griffin gained some weight and changed careers.

[–]Demonweed 0 points1 point ago

It looks like someone really dialed down the difficulty level.

[–]turboeunos 0 points1 point ago

I thought I was watching the force field cat gif for a sec.

[–]Piernitas 0 points1 point ago

I didn't realize the Legend of Zelda roll was a legitimate combat technique in real life.

[–]DiaDeLosMuertos 0 points1 point ago

He moves the way I would move my character back when I would play WCW on Nintendo 64. First one missed! Roll away before he grabs you! And the other guy reacts just like the cpu.

[–]RadioDolphin117 0 points1 point ago

You know this could almost go in r/gaming

[–]Hotpotabo 0 points1 point ago

That move is safe on block.

[–]theeBrownBomber 0 points1 point ago

Ahh the drunken monkey technique

[–]gali184 0 points1 point ago

I feel like a gif of Buster curling up into a ball would be relevant.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

looks like my character when i play video games

[–]MeanwhileInAmerica 0 points1 point ago

If it looks stupid but works, is it stupid?

[–]AngriestCosmonaut 0 points1 point ago

That looks like me playing Red Dead Redemption.

[–]WeaponexT 0 points1 point ago

Raised in a noodle shop,

Never seeking glory or fame...

[–]Amarokshoegazer 0 points1 point ago

If he pulled that off it would of been amazing.

[–]Dhuske 0 points1 point ago

He did pull it off. His first kick was lousy but the two rolls kept him from getting countered. He was entirely exposed after that kick attempt.

[–]pixelated_dongs 0 points1 point ago

im pretty sure this is Bob from Tekken, same moves and everything o_o

[–]mad_maxx17 0 points1 point ago

That is the thickest MMA Fighter I've ever seen.

[–]mad_maxx17 0 points1 point ago

Are you serious or do you have a lisp?

[–]twowheelterror 0 points1 point ago

nice strategy tuck and roll

[–]Arya2u 0 points1 point ago

This is why you don't talk about fight club, especially to the IT guys.

[–]Evenged7x 0 points1 point ago

That's some soul calibur bullshit right there

[–]T-rexEyes 0 points1 point ago

yes we have all seen this.

[–]mrojsnur 0 points1 point ago

Just like Link!

[–]NOROOM4JC 0 points1 point ago

when I was in grade 5 or 6 me and a friend were pretending to be ninjas play fighting/sparring. At one point I turned and somersaulted away from him and I guess I made contact with his chin. I didn't feel like I made contact so was pretty surprised when he took off crying. I guess I chipped one of his teeth but didn't find out until the next day. Felt pretty bad but he was a cool guy and did not hold a grudge.

[–]Wargall 1 point2 points ago

When did this thread turn into story time?

[–]phreeck -3 points-2 points ago

That kick he threw looked so bad.

[–]oldmoneey 2 points3 points ago

Yeah man he totally could have thrown a touchdown too if he wasn't travelling.

[–]HEELLLPPPppp -1 points0 points ago

Shit, that's around my area. Hot 107.9 and 97.3 The Dog are local radio stations... More reason to be embarrassed to be a Louisianian.

[–]Slayer5227 -4 points-3 points ago

I got them moves like Jagger

[–]hobofats -2 points-1 points ago

ITT: redditors who have never been in any sort of competitive fighting criticizing an exhausted guy for lazily executing a kick and smartly rolling away so he doesn't get destroyed.

[–]JumpingRambo -2 points-1 points ago

Snorlax used Rollout!
