I may be reading way too much into this, but one of the original focuses of the show was that the Foreman's were a family struggling to provide a good life for their kids. The first major problem is that Red gets put on "part-time" employment, and then the factory closes down completely. Perhaps the cheese-grater lamps were a very subtle testament to Red's handiness, making his wife's kitchen more beautiful with stuff they either had lying around or could get ahold of very cheaply.

I think it is amazing how easy it is for us to forget how vulnerable we actually are as humans. We're really great at surviving, and surviving is ultimately the name of the game, but there are hundreds of animals out there that are evolved killers that could take us down in a one on one situation like it is nothing.
I catch myself forgetting this all the time too. Some times I have these moments when I see a really particularly viscous stray dog and I remember that that thing could probably kill me if it wanted to. I couldn't out run it, I'd probably panic and freeze up instantly if it attacked, and it just generally would own my ass. That's sort of a really weird thought and it reminds me of all those alien movies where the humans finally "sneak" into their base (think Cowboys and Aliens that just came out) and once they get past all the outer defenses they can take on the aliens one on one. Same thing... only we're the aliens.

I agree, the problem is that we are trained not to be killers as humans in society. If you looked at that dog and thought "I could probably let it latch on to my arm while I use my elbow to crush its esophagus", you probably wouldn't be as afraid. As humans it's not our strength or speed that make us superior to other animals, but our intelligence. We are smart enough to use tools and strategy to our advantage as well as work in groups as necessary.

I think you are underestimating humans a bit. These animals are either in fight or flight mode, or in hunt and kill mode. This makes them act without really thinking at all, just reacting. Humans have the same thing. We are just rarely put in a position where we use it, so some people seem to forget it exists.
TL:DR Once the initial shock wares off you would fight for your life, and most likely come out on top.

Though i'm not one to condone breaking the rules. No actual severing of the arm was seen, because the .gif looped back right when that would have happened. Thus, no actual injury/gore was seen. This interpretation is in the eye of the beholder obviously. IMHO no rule was broken with this post.
