[–]Roger_KK 557 points558 points ago

The parents. Seperate those two. Theyre obviously both upset at one another.

[–]ashleyamdj 142 points143 points ago

Agreed. One important role for a parent with pets is to teach the child to be mindful of the pet. Kids don't yet realize they are being mean and they can accidentally hurt the animal or scare it. Most pets don't mean to lash out, but instead of filming the parent here should have been separating. It's not funny if the kid ends up hating the cat and vice versa.

[–]h8bit 32 points33 points ago

NO pets "mean" to lash out. They're animals. They are never to blame.

[–]Surge72 1 point2 points ago

But so are we :p

[–]David_Copperfuck 1 point2 points ago

Just like us.

[–]ilawlfase 44 points45 points ago

Though, that clearly was not an accident. He was lashing out and wanted to hurt something. And should definitely be taught some control. Orrrrrr, he's gonna be a wife...or husband beater.

[–]Crochetniac 120 points121 points ago

The cat was continuously biting the child though. It's not shown in the gif, only the original video (someone posted it above). The kid was trying to get the cat off of him, and his cunt of a mother was filming it and laughing instead of separating the two like she should have. The kid was being a kid, the cat was being a cat, and the mother was being a bitch.

[–]ilawlfase 14 points15 points ago

And I agree. The cat was pissed off before the video even started.

[–]KaneinEncanto 5 points6 points ago

Thing is, I never saw any indication this cat was ever more then upset after it got slapped. An angry cat would have its tail up, ears would be completely folded back and hissing. Even after the kid hits it hard the ears neve fold all the way back not did it hiss, it lets out a loud meow and pounces on him.

See many cats like to do this thing called play fighting, and that's what it looked like the cat was doing the whole time. Mine will 'bite' me in the process of at fighting, but she never even leaves a mark. There's not enough force put into the bite to do so.

Even the kid laughed at one point, then mom says something and he hauls off and pounds the cat. Others in the post say it translated to her telling the kid to 'hit the cat' or something similar.

Would love to get her in a room somewhere alone for 5 minutes.

[–]Canis_lupus 10 points11 points ago

Never have I seen this horrid example of human behavior so eloquently summed up.

[–]ashleyamdj 1 point2 points ago

I knew there would be more to it. This solidifies my argument against the parent. She's lucky the cat didn't do really bad damage.

[–]supersnuffy 1 point2 points ago

The mother or somebody also put the cat back on the bed when it tried to walk out,

[–]Ragnalypse 131 points132 points ago

TIL that if your parents let you slap cats, you'll grow up to beat your wife or be gay.

[–]ilawlfase 26 points27 points ago

True story bro. Well...you don't have to be gay....I was saying he could be gay when he grows up....and beat his husband instead of a wife. Who am I to say he can't be gay?

[–]TrollingThunder 120 points121 points ago

That's retarded. I grew up loving all of my animals, and never laid a hand on them, yet I beat my wife at least once a week.

[–]myd4u 6 points7 points ago

[–]Randamba 4 points5 points ago

I think what ilawlfalse is trying to say is that all pet beaters are wife/husband beaters, but not all wife/husband beaters are pet beaters.

[–]CareBear3 1 point2 points ago

+karma for the name :p

[–]Deemanboy24 4 points5 points ago

Did you watch the video? It starts with the kid already crying so I'm guessing he had already been bit/scratched. You can't make just a huge assumption from a .gif nor can you from the video. What you can assume is that the parents are horrible people. The kid was already hurt and, as most kids do, wanted revenge. He hit the cat, after being bitten at least once we see, and then the cat hits back.

The parents? Fuckers laughed.

[–]Tiktaky 5 points6 points ago

First they wet the bed, then they kick the cat. The next thing you know your backyard is on fire and a dead hooker is cut up in your trash can...

[–]DonnieMarco 8 points9 points ago

Children who grow up with a feeling of being unwanted and unloved, tend to become very violent and assertive in their adult life. This low self-esteem and rejection usually finds a vent in brutally murdering innocent people.

Total rubbish. As someone who spends his working life with said unwanted, uncared for, very violent children I can promise you none of them has - as yet - turned out to be a serial killer. If this was true then we would really be awash with serial killers.

That is not to say there are not plenty of them over the years I fully expect to be locked up for violent crime and that is to say I certainly would not want to meet them in a dark alley.

[–]stanfan114 1 point2 points ago

The whole video has the parents encouraging the cat to attack the kid. This is the result.

[–]thatthatguy 1 point2 points ago

The kid looks more scared and upset than angry.

[–]dont_get_it 29 points30 points ago*

Looking at the longer video version, it looks like the parents are trying to toughen up the kid. Sounds lovely doesn't it?

The cat is play-fighting with the kid, but the nips it is giving the baby are enough to cause crying. I don't speak their particular form of jibber-jabber, but when the baby looks at them, it seems like the parents tell the kid to smack the cat.

*Edit: grammar

[–]mitama 20 points21 points ago

My (Russian) friend showed this to me and said the woman tells the kid to hit it to get back at it.

[–]KaneinEncanto 9 points10 points ago

If true hate neither the cat or the kid but hang the parent for teaching such "good values" to the next generation.

[–]KFCatz 1 point2 points ago*

I have a different view on this whole video.

When I was quite young (5, 6 maybe) we had a cat that would corner me and attack me daily. Like attacking my face and eyes kind of attacking.

This generally happened when my parents were not looking. My grandma saw what was going on and told my mom about it. My mom told me to grab the cat and shake her next time it happened. So that's what I did. I grabbed the god damn cat (from behind to avoid teeth) and threw her.

We lived in harmony for the next decade.

That being said this particular mom did not handle the situation very well. The cat was only playing, not being malicious.

Edit: I'm on a roll with offending people lately. But honestly I have a scar on my eyelid from that cat. She was trying to usurp my rank. She's still around, and I love her to bits.

[–]smellthyscrote 225 points226 points ago

I can't find the original video right now, but it was actually the parents' fault. The kid was just being a kid and the cat was just being a cat, however the parents sat and filmed it as it escalated instead of breaking it up.

[–]Gympy 86 points87 points ago

[–]Jedditor 156 points157 points ago

Man, those kid's parents are assholes

[–]hi_blue 76 points77 points ago

Yep, the only correct answer to the original question is: I hate the parents.

[–]TheAkPoster 3 points4 points ago

The kid deserved it. Don't F with the cat. lesson kids should learn when they are young. :D

[–]ZeeHypnotist 18 points19 points ago

While I agree somewhat, the kid was clearly distressed, and should have been taken away from the cat before it got to that. The kid, in my opinion, being immature (due to age, not insult), couldn't immediately think of the idea of simply avoiding the cat, not to mention, the cat was probably following him, not thinking it was even annoying the kid.

This is simply a situation that can't be the fault of either kid or cat. The lesson is not one that the kid will learn properly.

[–]Jinxo2 1 point2 points ago

The video shows the can in the kid's face. I'm not sure if it was biting or licking, but the kid was not happy about the situation.

The parents shouldn't have been allowing this to happen - in fact I think I heard laughing at the very end of the video after the child fell off the bed.

I say CPS should come scare the shit out of the parents, and give the cat to me. =D

[–]nikki2172 17 points18 points ago

Wasn't the kid's fault and he didn't deserve it. The child is too young to understand how to handle a situation like that and obviously isn't being taught by the parents. It's the parents' that should be put to blame.

[–]dollarcoin 1 point2 points ago

Watch the full video.

[–]erikthepace 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. The cat even tucks his ears back after biting the kid too hard: A clear sign that it's aware that something is very wrong. Kill these parents.

[–]zorua 98 points99 points ago

She actually laughs when the cat goes for the kids face. What an absolute cunt.

[–]tweedius 26 points27 points ago

God I love the word "cunt." It really pisses people off, but I think it is the funniest thing ever.

[–]PaleWithBlueEyes 28 points29 points ago

Only cunts hate the word cunt.

[–]sinople 2 points3 points ago

It's like 8th grade all over again!

Relevant Louis CK

[–]yoonie 11 points12 points ago

This is why I always say it's silly to say "I'll never call a woman bitch!" Sometimes, a woman is a bitch- like when they think their pet attacking their child seems funny.

[–]AriBBCP 6 points7 points ago

i'd call her an asshole

[–]Ontain 24 points25 points ago

WTF. the kid is crying and getting clearly upset and the parents just film and laugh at him? The cat looked like it was play fighting with the kid too and it wasn't pleasing the kid.

[–]DzejAr 8 points9 points ago

maybe it was just superstupid older sister, according to her voice while laughing

[–]vyralinfection 4 points5 points ago

When the kid looks back at the camera, right before he hits the cat, i can clearly hear the words "Stuknij go" in Polish this means "Hit him". Whoever that woman was, she's a total bitch. The kid was just doing what he'd been told to do.

[–]okaycoolbro 2 points3 points ago

Wow. I hate people.

[–]polarbearGr 1 point2 points ago

The parent actually told the kid to hit the cat.

EDIT

Polish language.

[–]Crochetniac 1 point2 points ago

The clip makes it seem like the kid is just throwing a tantrum and the cat gets back at them, I never saw the original video and realized what an absolute cunt the mom is :/

[–]measuredinyears 4 points5 points ago

I'm pretty sure that's a sister and not a parent.

[–]jabbathekiosk 1 point2 points ago

You can hear a man's voice at the beginning of the clip. So it could be two older siblings, but it's not just a sister.

[–]NewAccount89 11 points12 points ago

Thank you for actually looking at the entire content and not just cussing out the kid or the cat.

[–]adrian1234 1 point2 points ago

It's easy to see the problem even without the longer video because obviously there has to be a person filming it. The baby's doing what babies do, and the cat is just doing what cats do. The fault lies with the person whom allowed both the cat and the baby to get upset.

[–]NewAccount89 1 point2 points ago

Exactly, I couldn't agree more. The only reason I said what I said was because I've seen this .gif before with majority of the comments in the context of "Fuck you kid."

[–]FotTheWuck 2 points3 points ago

Came here to say "C. Parents" but you said it better

[–]musicman3739 38 points39 points ago

that's some solid parenting. keep that camera rolling as the kid falls headfirst off the bed

[–]Wutzberger 447 points448 points ago

Kids. God I hate kids.

[–]asdfpotato 136 points137 points ago

always kids. never cats.

[–]DaddyDanceParty 52 points53 points ago

My cat loves me and I love him. But my kid cousins are cunts.

Don't judge me. You're not in my position.

[–]Q_the_Avenger 1 point2 points ago

I agree here. A former neighbor of mine brought his kid over for me to meet him for the first time. Kid was maybe 9 months old? I don't know, I'm bad with baby ages.

Anyway, so my cat Micky was really good around the kid, when suddenly the kid reaches out to Micky and grabs both sides of her head, pulling on her ears. Micky narrowed her eyes, struggling to get away, and when the kid finally let go (probably because I was going, "Oh my god!"), Micky just ran off out of the room. Didn't hiss or anything, not even a peep.

My neighbor picked up his kid and said they should go, because he didn't "trust" my cat to not hurt the kid. My response: "Yeah, well, I don't want your fucking kid to kill my cat."

[–][deleted] 56 points57 points ago

Kids. Not even once.

[–]hoodie92 55 points56 points ago

Little fucker started it.

[–]LaocoonPwnedBySnakes 14 points15 points ago

Yes he did, and got what he deserved.

[–]The-Dudemeister 6 points7 points ago

Actually if you had seen the video, the parent filming tells the kid to hit the cat.

[–]RoniRoo 1 point2 points ago

Do you have a link?

Edit: Nevermind. Saw it below.

[–]memejob 16 points17 points ago

Yeah that kid looked like a little shit too. I'm even a dog person. Cat still wins in my book.

[–]mattlikesbeer 10 points11 points ago

Come join the party at /r/Childfree!

[–]carouselunicorn 1 point2 points ago

Considering this gif made my uterus shrivel up, I'm on my way!

[–]deepwank 1 point2 points ago

Understandable. Kids require far more effort.

[–]kirkverner 8 points9 points ago

camera operator/parents

[–]carpe_meme 16 points17 points ago

Yeah this makes me hate parents who don't protect their kids or their cats.

[–]Prospekt01 6 points7 points ago

I hate the person holding the camera

[–]Solkre 8 points9 points ago

It makes me hate shitty parents.

[–]mrmdc 43 points44 points ago

Actually... The parents.

Case closed.

[–]TheCultist 60 points61 points ago

Are you really asking to reddit to choose between a cat and a kid?

Really?

[–]Zylll 9 points10 points ago

Choice isn't that hard; animals over kids anytime.

[–]CandyJar 3 points4 points ago

People in general for the inevitable child hating comments that always accompany this gif.

[–]coconfused 4 points5 points ago

This doesn't make me hate either, because in the full video you can clearly see that the cat wouldn't leave the baby alone while he was afraid and crying.

[–]Asiansensationz 8 points9 points ago

Parents. Cats even attack you 6 feet tall man. Don't put your son near blood thirsted small lion

[–]Banzaiiiii 5 points6 points ago

THE WORLD! The parents for not separating them and OP for a reposting an unpleasant gif. So basically all the sentient beings involved in the process (babies and cats don't count, they're too dumb).

[–]SpaceManAndy 3 points4 points ago

Depends on why the kid is crying. If the kid is crying and hit the cat because the cat hurt the kid unprovoked it's one story. If the kid is crying because of something else and took it out on the cat, it's a totally different story and the kid learned an important lesson.

[–]Naberius 3 points4 points ago

Uh... parents?

I mean the kid's a freaked out toddler, and the cat's a cat. There's a certain lack of capacity and responsibility in both of those.

Whoever was holding the camera, however, decided the best course of action was not to keep the kid from beating on the cat, or keep the cat from scratching the kid, but to keep shooting so they could get attention on the internet.

[–]dwarf33 3 points4 points ago

It makes me hate the parents who are filming this.

[–]mostlikelyatwork 34 points35 points ago

[–]djslim21 6 points7 points ago

thank you. I can't believe I had to scroll down this far to see this...

[–]tickleberries 8 points9 points ago

I felt sorry for both the kid and the cat. People shouldn't abuse their pets and kids.

[–]CaffeinatedPony 60 points61 points ago

That poor defenseless cat was just defending itself!

Kids are the devil.

[–]minorDemocritus 63 points64 points ago

That poor defenseless cat

Aww...

was just defending itself!

Umm...

[–]marekknowak 1 point2 points ago

[–]CaffeinatedPony 1 point2 points ago

Jeez, that parent better teach their kid how to respect cats, not beat them. Then the parent needs to go outside and beat themselves out of shame of their own stupidity and failure to raise anything decent.

[–]lag_rvp 4 points5 points ago

Neither, just whoever sat there recording.

[–]PM67 35 points36 points ago

this makes me hate THAT kid...lol

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points ago

Both.

[–]wheeliechacha 2 points3 points ago

Neither, but I hate the parent who thought this was funny.

[–]sunarcher 2 points3 points ago

they're both fine. i hate the reposts.

[–]sandiegoking 2 points3 points ago

I hate cats, and his parents.

[–]jf713jf 2 points3 points ago

Surprising the cat didn't go for the jugular!

[–]Woodkhaak 57 points58 points ago*

Cats are very patient. I blame the kid parents.

[–]DeeCipher 2 points3 points ago

BOTH. I have very little patience for things that make loud excessively annoying sounds and shit everywhere.

[–]wretcheddawn 8 points9 points ago

I don't like either, but who films as their kid prepares to whack a cat?

[–]tehbritta 6 points7 points ago

and then laughs after the cat retaliates. stupid parents.

[–]seanrm 30 points31 points ago

DEMON CHILD, you NEVER hit a cat like that!

[–]benderbagginsbeer 6 points7 points ago

The parents are dicks ..

[–]Controlled01 4 points5 points ago

Why Can't it be both? Ima go with both.

[–]AnneGwish 3 points4 points ago

I hate the parents, their stupid kid, and that ugly cat.

[–]childishbambina 3 points4 points ago

That kid fucking had it coming.

But yea they were clearly upset, the parent should have pulled the child away from the cat before he hit it that hard.

That being said... the cat was well within normal cat behavior to retaliate.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points ago

Karma slaps the kid in the face...

[–]Icanflyplanes 1 point2 points ago

Screw those parents, they are douchebags.

[–]EYEsaySO 1 point2 points ago

Parents, it makes me hate parents.

[–]budaslap 1 point2 points ago

[–]DoctorDank 1 point2 points ago

... Can't we hate both?

[–]ScumEater 1 point2 points ago

Unless this is part of an actual scientific inquiry it kind of make me hate you for posting a video of a kid hitting a cat. I kind of didn't want to see it.

nothing personal you understand.

[–]unicornluv 1 point2 points ago

Before the baby hit the cat the cat was already tearing his face up. The parents just stood and video taped it

[–]Lots42 1 point2 points ago

Oh, I love when this comes around.

Half the commenters are for the cat, the other half for the kid.

Then everyone has a good screaming match with each other and downvotes fall like rain.

[–]MemebaseAccount 1 point2 points ago

Reddit, this is so unnecessary. You do not have to repost from memebase. You are all better than this.

[–]MiniRuckus 1 point2 points ago

Always the cat.

[–]rawrc 1 point2 points ago

It makes me hate people who can't take care of cats or babies

[–]shpedoinkle007 1 point2 points ago

Cats. Cats are wild animals. They should not live in houses. Also, they're assholes.

[–]DasIstWasSieSagte 1 point2 points ago

If I were that cat I would fuck that kids day up, too. That's people and obviously an animals first reaction. But the parents are horrible for allowing this at all.

[–]kaltivel 1 point2 points ago

I already hated kids.

[–]hellbenthatch 1 point2 points ago

http://www.break.com/index/baby-vs-cat-2261264

wooooooooooooooooooooow nice parenting

[–]moreoriginalmyass 1 point2 points ago

I instantly hate any parents who choose filming a 'funny' moment over helping a child or animal that's clearly in distress, or about to be.

At the start they're both clearly agitated, I don't know what happened before that but that is the point where any caring parent would realise that both parties need their space to cool off. Young children will sometimes hit, because they're not fully in control of their emotions or behaviour yet. Likewise, cats will lash out when attacked because they're animals and scared and that's what they do. Neither are to blame really, just the supposed adults who neglected the care of their child for the sake of a video clip.

Sorry for ranting everybody, I just found this so annoying.

[–]YKWDPM 1 point2 points ago

The parents. In the video they tell the kid to hit the cat and then laugh.

[–]Flerbizky 11 points12 points ago

That kid got what he deserved. BOOM - Headshot!.

[–]DoodleVnTaintschtain 1 point2 points ago

I know this will be unpopular, but if it were me, we wouldn't have a cat anymore. The kid is too young to understand what he did, and kids > animals every single time.

[–]phonixx 5 points6 points ago

i saw this gif, but in an extended version the other day, and the cat had been biting the kid well before the kid hit it, the kid was just minding his own business, this is in no way the kids fault, at all...parent fail, unbelievable parent fail

[–]Karma_Trooper 2 points3 points ago

You for reposting this ಠ___ಠ

[–]cpenny20 4 points5 points ago

that kid is a piece of shit. cat was totally justified.

[–]kezza596 1 point2 points ago

Without context: The kid.

With context: The parents.

[–]spudstoned 4 points5 points ago

The full length video clearly showed the cat biting & scratching the kid first. The kid then looks towards the camera (who I'm assuming is his parent/guardian) for help. They're too interested in filming, onslaught continues and the kid rightfully lashes out.

I've was in a similar situation as a child (slightly older than the kid here), where a cat attacked me for no reason. Only I grabbed the bitch by the tale and swung him around, bounced him off the shed and threw him in our pond. Needless to say, the cat learned not to fuck with me.

They really aren't the most compassionate animals. I have to wonder why they're commonly used as pets, and not food. Would never let one near my children.

[–]queenlikememo 6 points7 points ago

my boyfriend's brother has a cat that I swear has crawled out of satan's taint. it hisses at you when you pet it for more than .4 seconds. She always arches her back and tries to attack you. The thing is, I could understand if she was a shelter cat that was previously abused but she wasn't. However my boyfriend's cat is the sweetest thing on planet earth. 15 years old and always willing to snuggle and purr and sleep on your chest. You can't really generalize that all cats lack compassion. It's the owner who needs to be blamed. My boyfriend's brother refuses to discipline his demon cat and his annoying as shit dog.

Same goes with kids. Shitty kids=99% of the time its because they have shitty parents who encourage stupid behavior.

[–]jimbosaur 4 points5 points ago

What do you do when your kid is a... BRAT?

Spoiled and pampered like a Siamese... CAT.

Blaming the kids is a lion of... SHAME!

You know exactly who's... to... BLAME:

The mother and the fa-ah-ther.

[–]Simnol -1 points0 points ago

Actually, in the video we don't see the start of the altercation, for all we know the kid was just an asshole to the cat in general.

I don't blame either, the parents are shits for letting that happen.

[–]Heretic3e7 1 point2 points ago

Cat for the win. And to agree with others, the parents who were happily filming their child's and their pet's hurt and anger should be filmed while they play the same game with a tiger.

[–]josephanthony 1 point2 points ago

Seriously? You're asking Reddit which side we'd take; Brats or Cats?

[–]dbfan2007 1 point2 points ago

I try not to let my little one around cats. She tries to pick them up very roughly. I'm always scared one may claw her eyes out. Not that it's the child, nor the animal's fault that both are doing what come natural.

Kids. Not wild about cats on the Internet but I used to have two and I loved them with all my heart.

Fuck kids leave the cats alone

[–]PolarbearUnderwear 1 point2 points ago

Kids. 100%

[–]gountaa 1 point2 points ago

Makes me hate that kid, probably his parents too. I liked the cat tho, he's cool.

[–]tmadore 1 point2 points ago

kids, most definitely kids.

[–]samthefork 1 point2 points ago

This just reinforced my already unrelenting disdain for children.

[–]wtfapkin 1 point2 points ago

The kids. Definitely the kids.

[–]tiezep 1 point2 points ago

I upvoted because I hate both.

[–]ucandownvotethisdick 1 point2 points ago

Both.

[–]thymewizard 1 point2 points ago

Kids... If I ever did that to a pet my parents would have waited for the cat to finish then smacked the shit out me themselves...

[–]greyhulk 1 point2 points ago

Brat got what he deserved.

[–]saralovestony 1 point2 points ago

Already hated kids, gained a little more respect for cats though.

[–]Breze 2 points3 points ago

kid! the cat felt pain so it attacked

[–]Skwerley 0 points1 point ago

Damnit. Those people are fucking retarded.

[–]1Turd_Ferguson1 0 points1 point ago

makes me Hate stupid parents.

[–]Pavlovthedg 0 points1 point ago

both

[–]DrPingu76 0 points1 point ago

I think that kid learnt an important lesson, cats don't take shit from anyone. If a dog attack the child, it would have been put down......a cat gets up votes.

[–]alaiac 0 points1 point ago

Yes.

[–]Optimist_Toggles 0 points1 point ago

In this particular case, the parent or whoever was supervising this kid.

But to answer the question "Does this make your hate kids or cats?" Yes.

[–]crackofdawn 0 points1 point ago

It makes me hate parents, as do most videos with kids doing stupid shit while the parents sit back and watch like idiots.

[–]4funsies 0 points1 point ago

Both... Actually.

[–]schoocher 0 points1 point ago

The parents, clearly.

I can't hate the cat because kids at that age make be want to bite and scratch too...

[–]Derahel 0 points1 point ago

Parents, where else would the kid learn to retaliate with violence? If not from the parents, then from a source wherein the parents should have been monitoring to begin with.

[–]eeks12 0 points1 point ago

thats a stupid question to ask redditors..

[–]InTheDark1 0 points1 point ago

The parents. Duh

[–]The_Insyder 0 points1 point ago
