    Consider that this is from a powerlifting event. While anyone can be a dick of course, one thing I have noticed about competitive powerlifters is that they tend to be good people. It's a niche sport so you get a lot of people with tattoos, piercings and weird hair that have a rather involved camaraderie.

    Kinda like bikers I guess.

    Weight training does not stunt growth. This is a huge misconception that many seem to have. It will only stunt growth IF the kids diet is poor or he actually damages his growth plates.

    That is patently false, weight training at a young age has been shown to lead to premature closure of the epiphyseal plates (most likely from trauma, because a child is less likely to have correct form) in the long bones. The epiphyseal plates are the source of new bone in a developing child and thus any damage or premature closure will not allow their body to grow to its full potential length. The result can be stunted growth.

    As I said, the result CAN BE stunted growth, but there are many more factors that come into play.

    It's good to know one's limits, guys your size jumping just doesn't seem right, physics-wise. I remember playing basketball in 5th grade and having a 6-12" height advantage, jumping just wasn't happening for me either.

    I was referring to his "do not cause stunted growth" and "huge misconception". That is patently false. Notice in my post I said it CAN lead to stunted growth. Nothing in science is ever considered 100% true I will grant you that, but if that is your argument then you cannot turn around and state they DO NOT cause stunted growth. As you said, there are arguments for both sides. My original point was simply that children doing DEAD LIFTS equal to their body weight makes them very susceptible to growth plate injury and thus stunted growth. It is far too complicated a matter to have one answer, there are so many more factors that come into play.

      Looks like a 45lb bar, plus maybe (2) 10lb plates and (2) 5 lb plates = 75 lbs? The kid is probably 75 lbs or less, so he's probably lifting 1:1 - weight:body weight.

      I cant tell if those are 5 lb plates or 10. That's assuming they are in the US and they are a standard size, and the bar is a standard size also. Either way, my guess would be either 55 or 65 lbs.

      EDIT: I guess I didn't really answer your question. Most healthy adults who list weights regularly (or regularly enough that they would be competing like this kid) can deadlift way more than their bodyweight.

      Looks like 10kg? Thats around 1/3rd of his body weight, which isnt all that impressive.

      I guess the ratio of muscle to weights might be a bit better, but every fit male could lift the same ratio easily.

      It only looks hard because the kid doesn't have any testosterone to build muscles. Look up a kid called 'little hercules' for a more impressive child weight-lifter.

      Looks like 15 lbs. on each side, so total including the standard bar would be 75 lbs. Kid looks like he weighs a little bit less than that, but deadlifting at least your body weight isn't that difficult. Still, hard to tell without knowing how much the adult weighs, and also hard to factor in his lack of muscle development at such a young age.

        I see posts like these all the time now. It's ok, I guess, if everyone wants to commiserate together over lack of social skills, I just don't get it. Back when I was in my early twenties people sort of seemed to pride themselves on opposite things.

        Anyway, I can think of two girlfriends off-hand who actually picked me up at the end of the night. I was oblivious to their advances before then. I'm not bragging, I had very little game before moving to a bigger city. At any rate, though, you need to pick at least two girls you are interested in when you get to the bar, and work on wooing them all night. This last minute desperation is what gives guys in clubs a bad name. Really. It's better to go home alone than be thought of like this. Also, just dance with someone you like. Of course, I'm a lesbian so this mat be easier for me, and in which case I apologize.

        Wheres the gif of a guy walking a fat ,sloppy, automatic gravy making machine of a woman to his car?

        Cuz thats what happens at the bars i go to 10 minutes before they close. Couple of weeks ago i saw one guy trying to shove her into his jeep that he had a lift kit on. It was hilarious.

        Actually the photo is quite innocent. The male specimen hasn't earned his balance as yet, and thus he tumbles and grasps to maintain his fragile equilibrium. He would've reached out and leaned upon any available object, animate or inanimate. The female specimen then engages her basal ID to avoid the dis-pleasurable accosting of her person-hood. The already free-falling boy infant then makes a spectacular landing.
