I can agree with this.
However, that being said, I do think there is reason why these debates take place in the first place.
Even if we concede the fact that the individual performance and specs don't really matter, it is undeniable that Apple's marketing campaign and audience appeal is superb.
The problem then, for all us technologically inclined individuals, is that almost everywhere we go, every single piece of technology is labeled an iPod, or an iPad, or an iPhone.
I don't know if it's a common experience for anyone else, but it happens to me all the time. It didn't matter if the product looked completely different, if it played music it was an iPod. If it answered calls, it was an iPhone. It's like, in the minds of the consumer, there literally is nothing else out there other than Apple products.
Honestly, call me uptight, but it gets annoying after a while.
Just 2 days ago, during a class discussion, my classmates and professor were discussing adding iPads and Macs as part of public school teaching aides. Not once did anyone say "tablet" or "laptop." The only options were Ipads and Macs, despite the fact that android does, in fact, make tablets and they have very relevant advantages (in this context) like being cheaper and more versatile.
Technology minded people like myself do feel the need to speak out against this kind of stuff from time to time, because this kind of thing is just plain ignorance.
If you know about a lot about Android phones and iPhones and you prefer the iPhone that's totally cool. But when people are running around pretending that iPhones are the only "real" phone out there, it's something that deserves to be corrected.
