"Dear College," while not a formal law, pretty much screwed guys over. If a guy's accused of rape, the procedure is he's removed from university housing if they live in the same building/complex, and he's pulled from any shared classes, while the accuser is given psychological aid and tutoring. If the man is found not-guilty, then nothing is done to comp him. He needs to find some way to catch up on everything he missed during the trial, and he isn't comped for the rent he paid for unusable living space.

The worst of it, however, is the actual trial. The level of sureness to expel him with a scarlet A is effectively dropped from ~95%-99% sure he committed the crime to 51%, or some other comparable number. He's basically forced to prove his innocence. I also believe anything he says in the college trial can be used against him in criminal court as well, so he's kinda screwed either way. If he defends his academic career, then he ups his chances of being thrown in jail with sex offender status. But if he doesn't defend his academic career, he's condemned to working or technical class citizen because no university would take him after that.

Honestly, I'm not even sure why the university is involved in this type of crime. I doubt they'd hold a trial to see if they should keep an accused murderer enrolled.
