All you need to do is scream "ATATATATATATAT" and you will punch really fast.

[–]PVT_Asshole 14 points15 points ago

and then they explode.

[–]a_starfish 2 points3 points ago

With sparks, and then you pose. With your 4 other pastel-costumed teammates.

[–]ironicm_ustache 1 point2 points ago

Thanks, Buzz Killington.

[–]a_starfish 1 point2 points ago

I SHOULD PUNCH YOU RIGHT NOW, RIGHT IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE...

stranger.

[–]Magnon 0 points1 point ago

I can't help myself, I say that everytime I play monk in diablo 3. YATATATATATATAT!

I am sick and tired of these so-called "martial artists" on Youtube spreading their lies.

A couple of months ago I was mugged by two men. I knew they were coming but I thought I could take them, having watched countless hours of videos just like this one. I let them follow me into an alley, thinking I had them out-matched, when I saw their silhouettes from a passing car. I counted, one, two, three, four arms. Already I was panicking. The men chose this moment to pounce. I tried to fight back, but they used the advantage of their hinged appendages to stifle my strikes and hold me down, beating me. They stole everything I had, and left me for dead.

All I remember after that is pain, and then the weeks in the hospital. People, please, don't listen to these fools on Youtube. Even muggers have the right to arms, and they use it.

[–]kimcheekumquat[S] 54 points55 points ago

Dang dude I really hope everything turned out nicely for you after you died.

[–]greensquares 22 points23 points ago

A man like the one in the video saved me. I asked how he got me to the hospital and he just mumbled something about his abs.

[–]Deracination 5 points6 points ago

You're just lucky they didn't exercise their right to bear arms.

[–]Akeid 12 points13 points ago

[–]vahntitrio 0 points1 point ago

Correct. While maybe they can teach you a good strike: they seem to do so implying everyone has the power to take down any opponent with a single well placed blow. Most people have little if any experience in physical conflicts. However, in that case your opponent likely has some experience. They also will likely choose a victim that even if they do land a blow, they will easily be able to absorb it as they throw you to the ground and proceed to mount and pummel you.

So when watching these videos: keep in mind a single strike capable of downing your opponent would likely break your own hand. So even in a best case scenario you are still quite injured. Unless you know how to fight: just don't try it. And never take on more than one opponent.

[–]Xenc 0 points1 point ago

Especially if they have arms?

[–]Osum 0 points1 point ago

Even muggers have the right to arms, and they use it.

What you did...i saw it.

[–]electricmice -2 points-1 points ago

this story is not real. stfu.

[–]ciny -2 points-1 points ago

I let them follow me into an alley, thinking I had them out-matched, when I saw their silhouettes from a passing car.

seriously? then you deserved what you got...

[–]JoeLithium 10 points11 points ago

Yeah but how often do you come across a guy with arms nowadays.

That kid is probably bragging to all his friends about how his comment got so many likes.

[–]InflatableTomato 3 points4 points ago

Or if he's a redditor, brief instant of rejoicing followed by bursting into tears the moment he comes to the sad realization that he can't convert youtube likes into karma. No matter what.

[–]patefoisgras 1 point2 points ago

That's why he's trying his best to milk karma off his achievement on Youtube, no matter what.

[–]bobkrahe 0 points1 point ago

We need to make this comment top rated.

[–]Valorum27 2 points3 points ago

How do all the comments on that video have so many likes, anyway? If you look at other videos there are hundreds (thousands) of comments with no likes at all, and top comments with ~30 likes.

[–]hulk_krogan 2 points3 points ago

Probably because this particular comment has been pointed out by content aggregate sites over and over again.

[–]bosephus256 16 points17 points ago

Thank you for not using the title "Oh Youtube comments" and not using red to circle the obvious.

[–]stillnotking 7 points8 points ago

Or the word "gem".

[–]Anindoorcat 4 points5 points ago

I almost downvoted both of you in a fit of rage.

[–]USSC 4 points5 points ago

The comment has more thumbs up than the video...

[–]AcousticPoontang 0 points1 point ago

It was hacked.

[–]clemdia 7 points8 points ago

What about a pointed stick?

[–]uptwolait 5 points6 points ago

Shut up!

[–]acdcfanbill 1 point2 points ago

now... come at me with that banana!

[–]MrNiceWatchBro 2 points3 points ago

Japanese characters on his hat seems legit…

[–]evildustmite 1 point2 points ago

and the word ninja... looks legit to me

edit: have to watch video to see it

[–]evildustmite 2 points3 points ago

was expecting this one

[–]Macorian 2 points3 points ago

He missed the earlier video where the guy disarmed him

[–]showerbuffet 1 point2 points ago

hmmm, I wonder if this technique will work if they are holding a banana.

[–]GooGooGajoob67 2 points3 points ago

No, then you release the tiger.

[–]sny1120 1 point2 points ago

my massage therapist uses the same technique and it feels good

[–]Jyggaleel 1 point2 points ago

I miss his music videos

You know, say what you will about the effectiveness of wing chun, but I've always wanted to try it out for ground and pound. It seems like it could have its uses. Although it seems rather easy to cover up and take exactly zero damage.

[–]AntiTypicalRedditor 0 points1 point ago

"Clear the way first", as we say in Wing Chun.

[–]phliuy 0 points1 point ago

Would you mind explaining how you would do that to some one who has committed to shelling up?

[–]AntiTypicalRedditor 0 points1 point ago

Basically, that's all wing chun is - at least the first handful of years - learning how to clear the path. Sensitivity training (sticky hands) teaches you how people move instinctually. Think of it this way - if I slap your arm to move it out of the way, you'll react by resisting the force of that slap and pushing your arm out in the opposite direction. One of the concepts in wing chun is simultaneous attack and defense, so there is no "1,2", just "1". I would slap/trap+punch simultaneously ("1"), and your resistance would be on "2", maybe even "1.5", but that's still too late. Way easier to explain if showing you in person, I would highly recommend attending a trial class in your area.

[–]phliuy 0 points1 point ago

But how would you move someone's hands out of the way if there's commited to just keeping their hands in front of their body and face?

When you shell up, you don't want to resist anything; you just want to stay still.

[–]AntiTypicalRedditor 0 points1 point ago

That image is silly - why would you punch a person's arms? It literally just becomes a matter of moving those arms out of the way. Even if I am weaker than you, I can still move your arms. In fact, I can move them more easily the harder you clench (ask a friend to try this with you). Of course, you can easily resist, but it'll take you a split second to recover. Here is the best video I could find (most wing chun practitioners agree that a majority of the videos on youtube suck) http://youtu.be/E7Q1k3xV9aQ?t=8m4s watch until 8:10, that sort of explains it.

[–]phliuy 0 points1 point ago

If you shell up like that, you have no where to punch. The guy in the video is not blocking the way a boxer would. Any boxer worth his weight wouldn't stick his arm out in order to block a punch. In fact, you almost never parry a punch. You keep your fist to your cheek. You can't move someone's hand if there's no space to move it to.

I can see wing chun being useful in the clinch, or ground and pound. Definitely not as a main stand up, though. Can you use wing chun techniques on the ground?

[–]AntiTypicalRedditor 0 points1 point ago*

Not sure how long you've been doing martial arts for, but I've been in it long enough and talked shop enough to know that "talk is cheap", so we can talk technicalities forever, but you'll simply use reasoning that doesn't fit my experience and so we will disagree. You just have to try it. The video I linked was to demonstrate simultaneous attack and defense. No boxer is so strong that you can't yank his arm a fist's length for a split second. If your fist is at your cheek, it can't get any closer to your face, but it can go to the left, right, outward, or down.

Edit: Try this. Do that boxer's stance and clench really hard, be committed to staying still, or whatever. Then ask a friend to jerk your arms away as hard as they can. Not only will your arms move, your whole body will move. You'll lose balance.

In regards to stand up, wing chun's strength is during stand up. You don't circle around each other and throw jabs and leg kicks like boxers and MMA guys do. You first objective is to close that gap, and get into an "almost" clinch range, and then you pound the face. Once you're in that range, you use your "sticky hand" skills. There is no time where you dance around and "feel the other person out". But again, this is based on the skill of the practitioners of the respective arts. My personal experience, having done judo since I was 8, karate since I was 17 (I've since quit), JKD since I was 20, and wing chun since I was 22 (I am now 26), I can say that my opinion is that wing chun is the most effective.

[–]phliuy 0 points1 point ago

Have you tried wing chun against boxing or muay thai in hard sparring? If it really was the best, fighters in prestigious MMA leagues would use it more. It's as simple as that.

[–]FOR_SClENCE 0 points1 point ago

Hey, it's Bob! I forget the acronym, but these are great for training on, as they're made for the express purpose of martial arts training. Between this and the standard wooden-peg-covered post (I forget the name), you've got most techniques covered. Anything else, such as grabs, calls for a living person.

Ah, Kung Fu was fun. If hard as fuck.

[–]Mcelite 0 points1 point ago

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa. He better be speaking figuratively.

[–]SkippyWagner 0 points1 point ago

If you enjoy the Wing chun style, you might like the Ip Man movies... horrific acting and plot, but excellent fighting.

[–]jpii 0 points1 point ago

How do I know what's funny with out the red circle?

[–]zop1o 0 points1 point ago

I like how more people liked the comment than liked the video.

[–]therabidanimalman 0 points1 point ago

punch fast, strike harder!

[–]electricmice 0 points1 point ago

this guy has good form but he's hitting for speed and not strength which is useless in a real fight. look at how skinny he is, the guy obviously doesn't train for competition fighting. he probably trains for the art of the technique. it's so stupid how most people online only care about martial arts if they can use it on the streets. how many of you have ever been in a street fight in your entire life? i know i haven't. if someone tries to rob you, they're not going to fight you 1v1 and unarmed. they're gonna have 2 people or a knife or a gun. if you try to fight those situations you are probably going to die. do you think you're going to use your fighting skills in a bar fight? fighting against drunks who break a bottle to stab you or his group of friends that jump you? so this may be hard for you guys to believe but not everyone who trains in martial arts plan on using it to fight people on the streets.

[–]C8H10N4O2Rush 1 point2 points ago

My instructor said: You should end your fights with one strike if you don't the next one should. Now, he explained this a lot and its not to be taken literally as I know someone will say something in the lines of what if you punch 3 times, I'm no wing chung expert but it looks very inneficient in real life combat to try to land several fast direct hits to someones chest.

[–]slartbarg 2 points3 points ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClORguy66iA

also

Wing chun is supposed to be incredibly efficient because of the strong centerline they maintain while making sure to not commit to their strikes fully, allowing parried, missed, or blocked strikes to not drain them of much effort or energy, and not leaving them with as large of an opening.

[–]James_the_Rustler 0 points1 point ago

nobody actually punches the chest. you do that in partner exercises so you don't injure your partner. these punches are meant for faces only. if you were to strike the body (e.g. kidney, floating ribs, solar plex) you'd do that with a palm strike. i don't think anyone has ever punched a ribcage until it collapsed.

[–]slartbarg 0 points1 point ago

The beauty of the way these punches are thrown is that it is easy to change the level.

[–]aristeiaa 0 points1 point ago

I've used in real life a couple of times. Never gotten beyond the first punch. I think it's just the way you move directly inside their guard and strike. Catches people out and makes for an easy knockout if you do it properly.

[–]C8H10N4O2Rush 0 points1 point ago

Thank you, I wont argue its effectiveness if achieved but I just cant picture this technic blacking out any average fighter.

[–]aristeiaa 0 points1 point ago

yeh i can picture it being quite dangerous if you did it to someone with training
