You know, this is actually a legitimate statement. In a way. As an image is saved and re-uploaded over time, constant jpeg re-compression reduces over all detail. It's the internet equivalent of storing a photo in the sunlight.

PNG would be better. TIFF is uncompressed but is not exactly web friendly. PNG employs lossless data compression.

EDIT: Both are still not really good choices for displaying images on the web though. JPEG reigns supreme in the end.

PNG can be far better for web use than jpg.. Just depends what you're using it for.
For anything with transparency, or small images, images with few colours png is amazing. Honestly the only time you want to use jpg is when you have a photo.

If moderate compression is used on a photograph, the artifacts are barely noticeable, and the file size is reduced CONSIDERABLY. A 250kb jpeg could easily be a 5mb png.

              This thread in particular is just a drop in the ocean of the body policing and misogyny that is a normal feature of reddit. Literally any photo no matter how non-sexual with a female in it seems to result in a spirited discussion about how she makes various redditors penis feel.... when it makes their penises feel not good the vitriol is startling and sickening, but even if they do find the girl attractive their reaction is to aggressively objectify her and go looking for posts on gonewild.

              It sucks that I now really don't want to put any pictures of myself on Reddit ever, because of the inevitable slew of people who seem to be unable to resist offering unsolicited opinions on my appearance regardless of the context of the photo.

              Reddit in general (and the large subreddits in particular) is not a welcoming place for women at all.

              I'm just generally uncomfortable with the idea of lots of people getting together to make fun of a girl for having a bit of exhibitionist fun at a concert, as if she doesn't deserve to have that fun unless she's pleasing to the eyes of a majority of men. It's cruel.

                To be honest, I wouldn't want to see any woman flash a crowd regardless of her weight, just like I wouldn't want to see any man expose himself to me in public, that's my personal preference. What bothered me about some of the comments on this post (and inspiring my previous comment) were the degrading comments about this woman's body, and calling her a "cow" and such. I don't think they add to the discussion, and are just mean spirited and, yes, misogynistic.                 Secondly, if you think fat hatred is unacceptable in "no world" you are delusional.

                Fat hatred is by far the most accepted prejudice and it does not only affect one gender.

                If a comparably fat man had his shirt of at that same show and it was posted to reddit they would also be subject to an enormous amount of ridicule. Granted, the content of the ridicule would be different. A man would probably be called a "pig" instead of a "cow" and he would be immasculated and desexualized for having breasts rather than desexualized and degraded for being deemed not hot enough partake in exhibitionism.

                There is no way to deconstruct it to say if this experience would be worse for a man or a woman. It sucks for either gender.

                The point remains, making fun of this person isn't misogyny, it is hatred of obesity.

                And for the record, I'd totally be psyched to see her tits at a show.

                      As a gay man, I find it endlessly amusing how disgusted most straight guys are by fat girls showing their tits. Personally, I just think it's hilarious.

                      For example, was at an electronic show with my brother and his friends; we're entering the standing room area, just getting into the crowd. Suddenly, we are ambushed by this hugely fat short girl. She leans down, gives us a menacing glare, then proceeds to pull one of her tits out of the neckhole of her shirt (it was a really baggy shirt.)

                      Now, this tit was massive. Like, maybe the biggest I've seen (granted, that's not saying much). She then starts SPINNING it around, going "Woo-woo!" in tune with the music. My brother and his friends start screaming and covering their eyes, and I just about pissed myself laughing. All in all, a good time.

A doctor that euthanizes a terminal patient in great pain is a murderer then, as is someone who defends themselves against an attacker. There are a wide spectrum of reasons why people end other people's lives, and war and murder are very, very different reasons.

                          Those situations are arguable, because in practice a doctor and someone defending themselves oftentimes have the spirit of the law backing their actions. At other times, they don't have the spirit of the law backing their actions and they are seen as murderers. It's a legal, moral, and ethical grey area and I don't think we'll have an answer for this until we decide whether religion or science is running our country.

                              Actually, the vagina itself is one of those two holes. The entire structure, which contains both the urethra and the vagina, is referred to as the vulva. Also, the vagina does not 'evacuate pee,' and I feel fairly certain that you're not aware how childbirth works, as babies are not 'queefed out.'
