    It needs repairs just to test the manliness of the owner. Any owner masculine enough for this car should be able to repair it using nothing more than some dead batteries, an ice cream cone, and a few screws. No screwdriver - if you can't drive a screw with your own hands, how can you be expected to drive this 1995 Pontiac Grand Am GT with your own hands?

      Hey man - nothing against the Pontiacs! Fiance had one for ages, up until recent weeks. The repair saga was prolonged, tragic, and eventually failed.

        Well, it's kinda hidden in the fine print.

        Of course I'm sure he'd disclose it once the person called, since the biggest print is his name and phone number, but considering he gave 'prominence' to all the cool reasons to own the car, you'd think that at least he'd have made it more evident.

        Plus the fact that a 1995 Grand Am is probably only worth about $1K at the top end of its current condition, one with a blown head gasket is worth maybe $100.

        A blown head gasket is just the tip of the iceberg. Usually there are other failures you also have to address that could have been caused by the failing head gasket, like a warped head.

        EDIT: just so I'm not a Debbie Downer, overall I thought his ad was quite clever, and even made me chuckle a couple of times.

          As a mechanic who has worked on these cars, I will agree with the premise that there are going to be other problems. My guess would be a cracked thermostat housing. Which for some un-godly reason they made out of plastic. Which cracks leaks and over-heats the engine and blows a head gasket. Designed specifically to fail.

The OP was most likely referring to the ad poster's use of the "over-the-top, holy-mother-of-God-buy-my-fucking-amazing-product" approach.                                               I'm a 29 year old chick and I drove a '95 Grand Am all through college. God, I LOVED that car! Mine was black with teal and purple pinstripes. Shitty engine design, though, and eventually I had to replace my Pontiac with a shudder 4-door white '98 Malibu. I went from cool to 100% lame in an instant.
