[–]SockGoblin 2 points3 points ago

Well, this gif only has 353 so far, I wouldn't complain

[–]k3il 169 points170 points ago

I can attest to this dude's dickheadedness. (His name is Anthony Scalamere.)

I was at a dive bar in Las Vegas and he and his douchebag friends proceeded to lynch some middle aged man for no reason. Also: he married a friend of a friend and was a complete piece of shit to her.

Fortunately he's a huge loser now and lost his sponsorship. H8 this dude.

[–]Beast_Ice 93 points94 points ago

lynch?

[–]Allurex 73 points74 points ago

I'm confused as well. Like, hang 18th century style?

[–]rocketman0739 22 points23 points ago

*19th-early 20th

[–]doctorprestige 1 point2 points ago

Lynching went on well into the 20th century, and still happens today

[–]KMFDM781 25 points26 points ago

I assume that means "beat the shit out of".

[–]timmlyy 18 points19 points ago

pretty sure thats what he meant. its not really what lynch means though. and from what i know, its not slang either.

[–]KMFDM781 10 points11 points ago

Yeah....I figured he used it like janked, ganked, or another ad hoc slang for being beaten.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

Now I feel old. When I was kid, "ganked" meant stolen or to have stolen. Janked meant of poor quality.

[–]masuabie 58 points59 points ago

They hung a middle aged man on a tree to die for no reason? How are they not in jail?

[–]jnroman7 33 points34 points ago

When the police came to arrest them they just skateboarded away.

[–]KMFDM781 9 points10 points ago

Sounds like a cock smoke of the highest order.

[–]Conjectural_Tech 583 points584 points ago

I must be getting old because I think he's an asshole.

[–]big-perm 181 points182 points ago

haha, as a longtime skateboarder and old man, I agree.

[–]ILikeLampz 75 points76 points ago

We kicked a 37 year old dude off or property at work the other day for skateboarding. He was a successful business type too.

[–]BipolarBear0 78 points79 points ago

[–]orangeninja 41 points42 points ago

he had just enough time for the conference call before getting back to the grind.

[–]brycedriesenga 11 points12 points ago

He was so prepared, he practically skated through his afternoon meeting.

[–]D0wnb0at 14 points15 points ago

Not all skaters are bums. Ive been skating 12 years, Im 28 and earn over £50 a year.

[–]11oops 36 points37 points ago

[–]Yreval 353 points354 points ago

Not to mention keep kids/teens from hurting themselves on the property and leaving scuff marks all over the walls and stairs.

The skaters who do shit like this are really over-entitled and inconsiderate.

[–]ILikeLampz 43 points44 points ago

Damage to property is probably their biggest concern. That shit gets expensive

[–]tonight__you 19 points20 points ago

I would think liability from someone injuring themselves or someone else while on the property and then suing them for negligence.

[–]nomofica 14 points15 points ago

This. I used to work in security. I couldn't really care less if there was a little bit of property damage; that shit can be fixed. Injury liability always ranked at the top of our concerns list. Our safety first, their safety a close second.

[–]ILikeLampz 1 point2 points ago

That's what the signs are for. Or at least a major part of it

[–]NSNick 1 point2 points ago

I would assume most businesses or public buildings carry some form of liability insurance.

[–]patio87 93 points94 points ago*

Or keep some idiot skater who breaks his arm around your building from suing the company.

edit: for to from.

[–]SullyJim 3 points4 points ago

A better way of ensuring that would be reforming liability laws.

Though security would still probably be needed, at least you wouldn't have the liability issues.

[–]TofuAttack 17 points18 points ago

but it was really badass so it's ok.

[–]impala26 1 point2 points ago

Skaters like this give the rest of us a bad name. My friends and I are always considerate of other people and always leave a spot when asked. Guys like this give skateboarding a bad name, which most of the time isn't even deserved.

[–]ILikeLampz 24 points25 points ago

I do this currently. One day I can only hope to end up in some skateboarding movie... As the "douchebag" kicking them off property.

[–]BiggerLongerAndUncut 27 points28 points ago*

You don't have to be a douchbag. You can be polite and you'll most likely get the same respect back. The "sorry, it's my job - I couldN'T really give a shit" bit usually works. Running out and yelling or just straight up trying to be a boss never goes over well.

edit: couldn't. As in "I personally don't care if you skate here, but it's my job to ask you to leave, so please do so"

[–]ILikeLampz 17 points18 points ago

I don't do it like a douchebag, just implied that I would probably be referred to as one

[–]BiggerLongerAndUncut 4 points5 points ago

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you were, I'm just pointing it out for others.

[–]ILikeLampz 2 points3 points ago

It's ok, I know what you mean.

[–]TheKillerToast 7 points8 points ago

Not really anytime I see security we usually stop skating before they come than thank them for being respectful and not calling the cops, than we leave.

[–]ILikeLampz 3 points4 points ago

Good guy skateboarder

[–]iChad17 5 points6 points ago

Please, a note to Americans everywhere, can you fix your language so that you say "I couldn't really give a shit", its got to the point where I can't stand it anymore. Here let David Mitchell have a word with you

[–]Frankeh 1 point2 points ago

I could really give a shit

Wait, so Americans don't just have a problem with the phrase "I couldn't care less" they actually have a problem with the meaning of the word "couldn't"...

Makes me so much more angry than it should.

[–]despaxes 4 points5 points ago

While I believe you should be polite at all times, I don't have to qualify my telling you to stop skating if it is my job.

What you are doing is illegal. You literally not only don't have a right to do it, you have the exact opposite. I do not have to coddle you or cater to your needs.

A simple "It's against the rules to skate here. Please stop skating." Is more than polite enough.

[–]HeavyArmss 18 points19 points ago

yeah i'm sure he's making 7.50 roughly.

[–]racerx52 31 points32 points ago

A mall I had seen advertising jobs on Craigslist was hiring at 8.45 an hour part time.

So, It's not TOO far out of context.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points ago

I don't know if your post is sarcastic, but 7.50 isn't really too far off what a security guard makes. I should know, I'm working as one while in college. I felt sorry for this guy, he doesn't even look like he's being an asshole about it.

[–]jokiddy_jokester 15 points16 points ago

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you really believe that security guards make lots of money.

[–]nomofica 5 points6 points ago

I used to make just about top dollar for a security grunt. $15.00/hr. Before that, working for a different security company, I made a measely $12.00/hr, and that was including the $2/hr "graveyard incentive" - And it was at this job I got punched, stabbed, and shot at (all different instances, but nonetheless...), and then got shat on by coworkers and supervisors. Holy shitballs did I hate that company...

[–]POTATO_ANAL_ETC 145 points146 points ago

Agreed. The two kids next to the cop are clearly filming, so it was all set up anyway. The cop was just an innocent bystander who got flicked off for no reason. Props for the bad ass wall ride, but no respect for the unnecessary rudeness. Typical "FUCK THE POLICE" teenage angst.

[–]oOOoOphidian 43 points44 points ago

I got the impression the cop was trying to pull him aside because he was skating somewhere that it isn't allowed, so he rode along the wall to avoid him.

[–]thedowd 14 points15 points ago

Ha, it almost looks like he was going for a high-five-on-the-down-low (a low five?) and was denied.

As an aside, I was a security guard and some skater kids came up to me because some asshole hit one of them with something and his lip was busted open; somehow people think I had the authority/power to do something about it.. (just told him to talk to a cop, assualt/etc)

[–]herpanderpentine 14 points15 points ago

The fact that they were filming doesn't mean it was set up, they were probably trying to get footage for a video. And most police officers I've encountered skating have been complete assholes. They generally hate skaters because they usually are rebellious and stoners and what have you. So when they come across polite skaters, they're still assholes, which make the kids mad and less likely to be respectful next time. I've always been respectful when I meet cops.

I've also completely forgotten where I'm going with this. I suppose I'm trying to say that not all skaters are assholes, or the reason behind why they would be. That guy was still being a dick though.

[–]MBSquared 14 points15 points ago

Probably because they do shit like the guy in the .gif. Flipping someone off for doing their job?

[–]herpanderpentine 6 points7 points ago

What? I think you misread, I was talking about why the skaters would be assholes, not the guards. I know they're just doing their job. There's usually normal, polite people on both sides, but there's always gonna be that one asshole that tries to cause trouble just for the hell of it. And he could be either the cop or the skater.

[–]MBSquared 6 points7 points ago

Wow I definitely did, my bad dude.

[–]herpanderpentine 2 points3 points ago

No worries! It's not a big deal

[–]D0wnb0at 1 point2 points ago

Not set up. Watch the video

[–]Grand_Theft_Audio 7 points8 points ago

the "cop" puts his hand out to stop the skater.

[–]marishtar 63 points64 points ago

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points ago

I'm pleased to see that this video has a mostly negative response even on youtube. Gives me faith.

[–]Reutan 3 points4 points ago

Make this its own comment so we can upvote it. Needs to be seen that he's not being an ass.

[–]masuabie 1 point2 points ago

I thought he was trying to block the video camera. Maybe no video taping on private property or something.

[–]raffytraffy 46 points47 points ago

yeah, that was pretty douchey.

[–]Itsbigrob1 208 points209 points ago

Would have been way funnier if the kid fell face down & knocked some teeth out. No I'm not kidding

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points ago

(Right at the part where he turns around and flips the bird)

[–]cant_be_pun_seen 118 points119 points ago

Reddit.

The place where cops are vilified for beating people for no reason, but at the same time it is ok for cops to beat people for no reason when they see fit.

[–]MBSquared 52 points53 points ago

Reddit roots for the people who have been treated wrong. The cop in this case is treated wrong. He is doing his job and the kids think they're being bad asses. In other situations the cop is doing the damage.

[–]darklight12345 28 points29 points ago

Reddit roots for the people who have been treated wrong unless the hivemind states otherwise

fixed

seriously, there have been shitloads of times when cops got attacked for no good reason.

[–]TheMauveAvenger 13 points14 points ago

It's all about arrogance, whether it be from a skateboarder or a police officer. I don't enjoy watching an arrogant cop beating up on some poor, innocent civilian just as much as I don't enjoy watching some arrogant teenage skateboarder harassing a security guard trying to do his job.

[–]LeAlthos 11 points12 points ago

I'm not the kind of guys that did those kind of things, but seriously, if you think what the teenager deserves to be clubbed or whatever, you might have some problems.

But whatever, if the same gif ended with police knocking him to the ground, the same guys would have been saying "POLICE BRUTALITY, DON'T TALK TO THE POLICE EVER GUYZ"

[–]azdak 26 points27 points ago

I fail to see how physical brutality is better than a 16 year old flipping the bird.

[–]notcoolbrooo 30 points31 points ago

Because arrogance isn't exactly flattering behavior.

[–]SirAuron 5 points6 points ago

Because these kids think they can get away with stuff like that. And, thanks to rules and regulations, they can.

[–]natemott 3 points4 points ago

Most skaters are relatively nice, and if they are shown respect they will give the same respect back. I'm tired of defending skaters though. This whole thread is attributing all skaters actions to the actions of this one thread. This is the same kind of stereotyping as if it was a .gif of a black person stealing something. Its just ignorant. Fuck this thread.

[–]SirAuron 1 point2 points ago

When I say "these kids", I mean "these kids", not every single skater out there. I am talking about the type of kid who flips off a security guard and breaks rules. Basically, "these kids" are embodied by this kid.

[–]sutsu 4 points5 points ago

Or he'd have made it out into traffic.

[–]Nasir742 4 points5 points ago

Truth is, if he fell and got hurt, he would sit there and cry as the cop tried to help him..

[–]Itsbigrob1 7 points8 points ago

Also true & while I'm not necessarily a fan, I have been helped out by the cops in the past. Yes I've also been harassed by the occasional asshole with an attitude.

[–]natemott 5 points6 points ago

That is not the truth. Not at all. You have a very idealistic view of authority.

[–]MundaneHymn 10 points11 points ago

Hijacking the top comment to show that the "cop" was FOR SURE wronged. Look at this.

[–]internet-arbiter 9 points10 points ago

security guard

[–]rspeirs 157 points158 points ago

Im a security supervisor at a mall in California. Literally 20 min ago I just kicked a group of neo nazi looking crack heads off property for being ass holes to customers and annoying tenants in nearby stores.. to sum it up they gave us the hardest time unwilling to leave whilst calling us rent a cops and "get a real job". Being security isn't easy. We arnt cops. But the skaters bums and occupy movement ppl sure treat us like ones. Its extremely annoying and this gif angers me. I feel the pain of that man doing his job

[–]Crap_Sally 17 points18 points ago

MY room mate was a security guard. Listening to him and then comparing my issues with guests at a hotel isn't even a competition. Hands down, thankless job. Everyone just instantly thinks you're a dick because you're a security worker for a private firm.

[–]iBro53 2 points3 points ago

Except when you are a security guard at a hospital. Then we patient care staff are VERY HAPPY and grateful when you come to take our crazy patients away.

[–]fever1234 2 points3 points ago

When I worked security for a hospital the only people that worked there that treated us as human beings were the E.R staff and the people down in the MHU. Everyone else wouldn't even talk to us. Until they needed us that is, then we were their best friends for a bit.

[–]OhSnappitySnap 20 points21 points ago

It's guys like this that give skaters a bad name.

[–]impala26 2 points3 points ago

It sucks. My friends and I regularly skate, and occasionally get kicked out of spots. We're always polite and leave straight away. There's no reason to be a dick to someone just doing their job.

[–]theghostofme 112 points113 points ago

Oh, man, those kids are too cool for school.

[–]blackedout 68 points69 points ago

As someone who put himself through college working security jobs on an off campus, I can legitimately tell you that the security guard doesn't deserve this. I personally didn't mind kids who skated on or around my assigned property. They mostly hung out with friends, did "little" grinds, jumps, etc. But every now and then, I'd get told by my bosses that I had to go and "Throw those little fuckers out, they're endangering us, the customers, and the building!" So, there I would go, working on 2 hours of sleep because of school, making $8 per hour, to tell these kids that they weren't allowed there anymore. I was nice, polite, calm, and those entitled dicks would call me a fucking mall cop, or "too stupid" to get a job anywhere else, and it kind of hurt. I was doing everything I could to let them be kids, and they gave me the finger, and treated me like shit. So yes. This rings a chord with me... I don't like skater culture for that reason. Entitled kids who are dicks because it's the cool thing to belittle others. Fuck them all. I was the only one there that didn't care if they skated, and they didn't know it.

[–]forceduse 16 points17 points ago

:(

[–]thatshitcrayaintitj 3 points4 points ago

Damn. I'm going to be more respectful of security officers from now on after reading this :(. Except the ones that ride around on segways acting like they're hot shit

[–]seg-fault 3 points4 points ago

Or you can grow up and treat everyone with respect. They probably ride those segways because they're fun as shit.

[–]atthedrive-by 1 point2 points ago

As a polite skateboarder, I'm sorry. In that clip it was two people trying to do their jobs at the same place, and the skater's a dick. Just sucks (the skater is ragdoll, he was pro in the early 00's).

[–]M_farnsworth 1 point2 points ago

I personally as a skateboarder of around 7 years hate kids like this. It sucks that we get represented as douchebags because of little kids. Hopefully your next encounter with skateboarders won't go that way again.

[–]AnAlpaca 1 point2 points ago

Not only are you being fucking dicks when you do this you are also losing another spot at the same time. Getting kicked out and causing a big fucking seen is the best way to make sure its locked down in the future. Get kicked out and leave respectively and you can usually come back in a few days.

[–]anthonymckay 4 points5 points ago

I promise we aren't all like that. Though it's a bit of a chicken/egg issue. A lot of skaters are dicks to security guards because a lot of security guards are assholes when they kick you out. Inversely, a lot of security guards are assholes to skaters, because a lot of skaters are dicks to them when they try to kick them out.

[–]IAmNotAPerson6 2 points3 points ago

I don't like skater culture for that reason. Entitled kids who are dicks because it's the cool thing to belittle others. Fuck them all.

Well now you're making yourself sound like an asshole. I used to love skating everywhere all the time. Whenever my friends and I would get kicked out of a spot we would be respectful, say sorry, and leave. A lot of the time, not security guards in particular, but people kicking us out were fuckfaces to us, which is barely understandable on occasion, but they were frequently rude.

Not all of us are like that and saying that is kind of like me hating you because of the bad experiences I had while skating.

[–]prose-before-hoes 173 points174 points ago

OH MAN LOOK HOW COOL HE IS

STICKIN IT TO THE MAN BRO

[–]Stop_Sign 202 points203 points ago

Scumbag skater.

Cop wasn't paying attention to him.

Gives cop the finger anyways.

[–]define_irony 135 points136 points ago

[–]dmtry 173 points174 points ago

Jeez that guy is a jerk.

[–]ifightfirewithwater 154 points155 points ago

For real, the dudes just doin his job. Probably fuckin hates it, gets harassed every day, and has a kid at home, otherwise he would probably say fuck this job. I feel for him for sure.

[–]meezajangles 38 points39 points ago

If its any consolation, the guy got messed up on drugs, became anorexic (less than 100 lbs) and no longer skates..

[–]Zeppelanoid 57 points58 points ago

I love a good story with a happy ending.

[–]DinoJr14 2 points3 points ago

I'm pretty sure he's been clean and healthy for quite some time now. He had a magazine interview 2-3 years ago with a lot of new photos of him skating after gaining some weight back and starting to sober up.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points ago

Nah yo. He's just proving the inherent violence in the system, man.

Ragdoll Wallride Pigwood Slaughterhouse 2012.

[–]fuckhope 5 points6 points ago

[–]captainJmorgan 28 points29 points ago

if you look, he puts his hand out in order to ruin the shot for the camera guy on the stairs

[–]PapauNewGuinea 7 points8 points ago

He puts his hand out before he knows the guy is skating. I think it's just a gesture. He does it twice.

[–]MagicRocketAssault 18 points19 points ago*

Oh no, now the internet only has 4 million videos of some ass-dick doing an ollie

[–]timebomb011 13 points14 points ago

He's doing a wall ride, which takes more ability than the average skater would pocess.

[–]doctorprestige 6 points7 points ago

I can confirm this. Wallrides are hard as fuck, and doing one going that fast from that high up is crazy

[–]MisterSquidz 4 points5 points ago

Haha.....ass-dick.

[–]bodamerica 37 points38 points ago

Wow, he really stuck it to that security guard... who probably makes a shit hourly rate, hates his job, and has to deal with pricks like this every day. But hey, rebel against the system, right?

[–]JLoche 54 points55 points ago

So brave.

[–]fantastic_mr_f 73 points74 points ago

[–]afrobotics 31 points32 points ago

Debilitating cynicism aside, that was kinda cool.

[–]play3393 4 points5 points ago

And douchey at the same time

[–]Craigellachie 2 points3 points ago

Seriously though, dude was an uncoordinated half-second away from getting a little pavement pizza. With some teeth missing on the side.

[–]JoshGirolamo 7 points8 points ago

It's the huge chances like that, that make landing tricks such an awesome feeling

[–]Jorgeragula05 155 points156 points ago

Haha. That sums up the reaction of the kid with the blonde hair.

I'm assuming you haven't see that movie, because he does shoot it, and he does fuck it up. Then looks at it like "whaaaa?"

[–]Crashmo 10 points11 points ago

Firing weapons properly is too ungangsta.

[–]ShrimpuhFriedRice 1 point2 points ago

You're damn right my gangster homie

[–]oldmanwithahatchet 2 points3 points ago

You've never seen that movie, have you?

[–]gimeit 1 point2 points ago

[–]rocketman0739 1 point2 points ago

There should be a version of this where it ends "-TATO"

[–]Hoffman5982 9 points10 points ago

A lot of the time security guards are unnecessary dicks towards skateboarders. This isn't one of those times.

[–]Chizum 2 points3 points ago

Pretty cool trick but the guard's just doing his job. There are regular people walking around the city you know, wanting to use the stairs.

[–]billmalarky 21 points22 points ago

For those interested, this is Ragdoll in the pig wheels film, slaughterhouse.

[–]brutalpiggy 3 points4 points ago

Beat me to it. Well done. By far one of the better skate videos in my opinion. ohhhh high school days...

[–]billmalarky 3 points4 points ago

It's funny because the pig team was so under-hyped. None of those guys were really big names in the skateboarding world (and pig is a pretty obscure company relative to the bigger names like zero, nike, flip, etc lets face it) but that video absolutely killed it.

I remember the first time I saw it I literally couldn't believe it. It captured the essence of skateboarding so well... just guys shredding and having fun without any of the politics things that are beginning to get really popular have.

Definitely a must watch for skateboarders and even non-skaters alike. I think just about anyone could appreciate it.

[–]branawesome 5 points6 points ago

Too bad their products sucked... I remember blowing out their bushings and bearings so quick.

[–]notjawn 8 points9 points ago

More like: "Shit kid, don't make me take the stand in a liability case that no matter what I say will just end in me losing my job."

[–]SpeckledFleck 3 points4 points ago

Reminds me of Andrew Brophy.

[–]Carrotsaregood 8 points9 points ago

Amazing how quick people are to defend security guards and how reluctant anyone is to defend a cop.

[–]Redemptor 12 points13 points ago

probably because security guards dont get paid nearly as much (i make 11 an hour and get 32 hours at most), and have significantly less powers of arrest or authority.

[–]blackjeezus 3 points4 points ago

I'd say that sounds about right.

[–]itsjustmatto 1 point2 points ago

Does anyone know what video this is from?

[–]Multikulti_cult 1 point2 points ago

Fuck the police

[–]hotoepicker 1 point2 points ago

Not a single fuck was given that day.

[–]fredandlunchbox 1 point2 points ago

Haha, I grew up skating at the same park as those kids

[–]SirDerpingtonThe3rd 1 point2 points ago

Whatever happened to ragdoll?

[–]wow_that_does_suck 1 point2 points ago

ragdoll's a fucking douchebag..

[–]baby_lamont 1 point2 points ago

Ragdoll is a beast.

[–]blulitespecial 1 point2 points ago

Is it cool that he's being a dick? I don't understand.

[–]usedtowork 1 point2 points ago

[–]enpe 3 points4 points ago

If you've never skated before, you really can't appreciate the balls/skill this guys has.

[–]roywarner 5 points6 points ago

His "balls" are nullified by the negative balls he shows flipping off a security guard.

[–]bobandgeorge 2 points3 points ago

Man... what happened to you, Reddit? You used to be cool.

Isn't there always a related xkcd?

[–]branawesome 13 points14 points ago

As a skateboarder from Wisconsin with a collection of nearly $1000 in skateboarding tickets, I can say it is indeed a crime.

(Also, I love xkcd. But I disagree with this comic)

[–]codyh1ll 8 points9 points ago

You might want to pay them, instead of collecting them.

[–]branawesome 7 points8 points ago

Oh I have... And you know what is crazy? I knew a person in our town that received a ticket after he was caught stealing from a fireworks stand($90). It was about half of my skateboarding ticket I got around the same time in parking lot in town($165).

[–]KINGCOCO 4 points5 points ago

If I was that guard I would run after the kid like there is no tomorrow. And then when I finally get him I would give him the biggest high five imaginable and congratulate him on being such a sweet skateboarder. Because that was fucking cool.

[–]rastapasta808 1 point2 points ago

I watched that one a good 15 times just narrating all the characters' lines

[–]VeggiAttack 3 points4 points ago

I saw this when it had two upvotes. Comparing the karma you got in three hours to my total makes me feel like dirt. Thank you very little.

[–]Rubix89[!] 0 points1 point ago

Oh to be young, when security guards are the greatest threat to freedom.

[–]dog_in_the_vent 5 points6 points ago

What a douche move on the skater's part.

Maybe he'll keep skating without a helmet and end up in a wheelchair someday.

[–]Devoidarex 2 points3 points ago

Skaters. Probably the one group least deserving of the reputation of 'rebels'.

Keep those fingers flying, kids.
