This isn't Creed Bratton on homosexuality. This is Creed Bratton on indiscriminate fucking.

[–]DatsNos[S] 4 points5 points ago

This quote/scene is in direct reply to the outing of Oscar as a homosexual. Its in the "Gay Witch Hunt" episode, in season three. But you're also right.

[–]sohfix 1 point2 points ago

I know, but he is rarely on topic.

[–]DatsNos[S] 2 points3 points ago

Ooooooooooooooooh, okay, gotcha. Yeah, actually, that's one of the reasons I love him so much. I guess I never really thought about how left field he was.

[–]redstar_wb 141 points142 points ago

What does this have to do with Atheism?

[–]cristalmighty 33 points34 points ago

I've been wondering that same thing. Lately there seems to be a lot of posts made to /r/atheism that could be made to /r/ainbow or somewhere else.

[–]Got_Engineers 12 points13 points ago

or r/funny.

[–]Elementium 63 points64 points ago

When you create a sub-reddit about the idea of believing in nothing it tends to get old quick.

We supplement our lack of content by posting things loosely related to religious oppression. Also /r/atheism can be seen as a Reddit for people with that in common to simply joke around and be in an environment where they know they aren't alone.

[–]niczar 1 point2 points ago

When you create a sub-reddit about the idea of believing in nothing it tends to get old quick.

You're mistaken, this sub-reddit is dedicated to posting Facebook screenshots. The OP is puzzled because this does not show the Facebook logo or layout.

[–]aazav 1 point2 points ago

It's not about "believing in nothing".

I think you miss the point. Once you see the bullshit, it's about what you can now do with your life and what you can accomplish.

[–]Rockknight 4 points5 points ago

So there's no point for the subreddit to exist?

[–]graingert 14 points15 points ago

You missed the point more than java

[–]feilen 6 points7 points ago

Sorry, I'm afraid I'm going to have to steal this expression.

[–]ThatIsMyHat 1 point2 points ago

Me too. Shit, I will race you.

[–]graingert 0 points1 point ago

Java missed the point so much it has no pointers

[–]sexual_in_your_end_o 37 points38 points ago

If you think about it, there's no reason for atheism to exist. If people would quit making up weird cults then we wouldn't need to not believe in them.

[–]Fly18 0 points1 point ago

If you think about it, there's no point in anything existing. The only purpose we have are the ones we give ourselves. The only purpose anything else has are the ones we give them. In the end, what are we really achieving?

[–]feilen 9 points10 points ago

Well, there's always cheese...

[–]windfall259 3 points4 points ago

And Swedish massages.

[–]casey12141 5 points6 points ago

[–]daren_sf 2 points3 points ago

We are the universe experiencing itself.

[–]sexual_in_your_end_o 1 point2 points ago

In the end, what are we really achieving?

Nothing, but I've been dead for an infinite amount of time before I was born and I'll be dead for an infinite amount of time after I die. Might as well make use of this small sliver of consciousness I happened to stumbled into.

[–]Fly18 0 points1 point ago

To be dead you would have to live first. Death is the absence of life, if there is no life to begin with you are not dead. Therefore, you were non existent before you were conceived.

[–]sexual_in_your_end_o 0 points1 point ago

Death is the absence of life

So wouldn't this technically mean that I was dead before I was born then?

[–]Fly18 0 points1 point ago

I meant loss of life. I'm trying to say that you must live before you die. It doesn't matter, you got your point across just fine.

[–]larpas -1 points0 points ago

What's the purpose of this point of view? It accomplishes nothing, and only makes people feel insignificant.

[–]irjerry3 0 points1 point ago

It's existentialism and it is very important to modern culture and a lot of atheistic philosophy. It has many consequences philosophically that are still being debated today some of which are things like liberalism, free will, and copious drug use.

[–]Fly18 0 points1 point ago

I don't really have a choice. That thought, no matter how deep I bury it, will always be there.

[–]apophenic -2 points-1 points ago

#wow #woah

[–]Elementium 1 point2 points ago

Bingo. Or rather our ultimate goal is that this subreddit doesn't need to exist. That day will come when people don't think Atheist =Devil worshiper.

[–]ThatIsMyHat 0 points1 point ago

I've brought this up before but I feel it bears repeating. Using r/atheism to bitch about Christianity is like going to r/chicago to bitch about New York.

[–]Parnass -2 points-1 points ago

aren't you clever! only your simile doesn't make any sense

[–]redstar_wb 0 points1 point ago

Well, I can agree with that reasoning. Guess I just came here with the wrong idea of what kind of content would be on here.

[–]windg0d 0 points1 point ago

So a subreddit about believing in nothing is becoming a subreddit about everything?

[–]Elementium 3 points4 points ago

Pretty much. The day we can delete this sub-reddit because it doesn't make sense to have it, will be a good day.

[–]xXArisenXx -1 points0 points ago

The day we can delete religion because it doesn't make sense to have it, will be a good day.

FTFY

[–]patrick_mcgoohan 0 points1 point ago

We believes in nothing! Nothing!

[–]GoodGuyAnusDestroyer 4 points5 points ago

It doesn't, this subreddit is odd.

[–]apophenic 0 points1 point ago

understatement of the year

[–]indiejesus 0 points1 point ago

People like OP assume that all religion or belief in God is directly in conflict with homosexuality.

[–]nerocycle 0 points1 point ago

I would have said that, only I enjoyed the quote too much to care anymore. :)

[–]RagnarIV 1 point2 points ago

I think it's because we're far more accepting of homosexuals than religious types and I wonder if this Creed Bratton is an atheist. That would explain why it's here. I did some quick Google searches and I found nothing solid.

[–]apophenic 1 point2 points ago

keep up your research bro

[–]jwcobb13 0 points1 point ago

And if that fails, keep your bro up.

[–]FrancisDollarHyde 1 point2 points ago

This is the last straw, I'm unsubscribing. Hopefully the mods will do something.

[–]apophenic 4 points5 points ago

THE LAST STRAW.

[–]Atom_Smasher 6 points7 points ago

This isn't "/r/antireligion" and most sane people are tolerant of homosexuality now, it has nothing at all to do with the lack of belief in a god.

[–]redstar_wb 1 point2 points ago

I agree but this this does not do anything to further discussions on any matter. Just turns into a office circlejerk.

[–]_Circlejerk_ -1 points0 points ago

I ask myself this same question a lot, lately. But then I remember that this is Reddit, and 83-87% of its users are gay and live in San Francisco.

[–]arshbjangles 26 points27 points ago

They really need to make creedthoughts a real website. Creed is the best thing about The Office.

[–]burnerR6 8 points9 points ago

Sometimes a guys gotta ride the bull, know what I mean?

[–]blocparty_TN 6 points7 points ago

The guy was just hanging brain, I don't see what the big deal is?

[–]SuperfluousTrousers 14 points15 points ago

When Pam gives me her old chair, I'll have two chairs. Only one more to go.

[–]DatsNos[S] 7 points8 points ago

Creed is the master of absurdist humor, like with the identity thief skit. "The last person to steal from Creed Bratton was... Creed Bratton."

[–]americanslang59 6 points7 points ago

Creed: "Sorry I'm late, boss. What's going on?"

Michael: "Sir, there has been a murdah! And you are a suspect."

Creed: "Okay...Hang on a sec. Let me settle in and I will be right back."

Camera pans to the parking lot with Creed speeding out of the lot.

[–]Northumberlo 0 points1 point ago

identity theft?

[–]spikestoker 6 points7 points ago

[–]arshbjangles 2 points3 points ago

You just made my life. Thank you kind sir (or ma'am).

[–]ecky--ptang-zooboing 34 points35 points ago

A hole is a hole. Fine logic indeed.

[–]upandrunning 1 point2 points ago

And a pole in a hole is a pole in a hole. Damned fine logic.

[–]biscobuddha 28 points29 points ago

I LIKED THE PART ABOUT ATHEISM

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points ago

HOLYFUCKBISCUITS ME TOO

WE SHOULD START A SUBREDDIT FOR ATHEISM TOGETHER

[–]ambiturnal -1 points0 points ago

Damn, /r/athiesm is taken.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

Shit we'll have to think about this really hard

[–]Grungemaster 9 points10 points ago

"I was a member of various cults, both as a leader and a follower. Being a follower is more fun, but you make more money as a leader" - Creed Bratton.

Another relevant Creed quote

[–]Xerazal 5 points6 points ago

Creed Bratton 2012

[–]roterghost 12 points13 points ago

This has absolutely nothing to do with atheism.

An article about gays being oppressed by the religious is one thing.

But this seriously is just pathetic. The fictional character in question isn't even an atheist, or giving a quote that has anything to do with religion.

A shameless "Anybody Else Love The Office?!" circlejerk.

[–]TheShaker 1 point2 points ago

You don't do it enough justice with your description of the character. He's a character whose sole purpose in the show is to act eccentric and say completely ridiculous things. Surprisingly, these kids still eat it up and try to reference it.

[–]apophenic 1 point2 points ago

A shameless "Anybody Else Love The Office?!" circlejerk.

gotta be a lonely circlejerk these days

[–]Got_Engineers 0 points1 point ago

No, its just a "r/atheism" circlejerk as always

[–]agleis86 3 points4 points ago

This is one of the most criminally underused characters on TV

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points ago

Totally disagree. Creed is indeed the best thing about The Office, for sure, but I think part of the reason he works is that they don't overuse him. If we had more of Creed than the random weird shit he says, I think he'd stop being so funny.

[–]agleis86 4 points5 points ago

There certainly is such thing as overusing a character. This has definitely been done before. Take Aldous Snow for instance. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" made great use of him. "Get Him to the Greek" gotold after 20 minutes.

Anyway, I digress. There certainly is the possibility to overuse Creed, but currently, there is plenty of leeway to give. If each episode had just one awesome Creed moment, that would be perfect. I don't think he has more than that in most episodes, and in some episodes he doesn't say anything at all. I don't know if you've seen the show lately, but it's not exactly in its golden age. Whenever Creed does have a moment, it's usually far funnier than the rest of the episode combined.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I don't know if you've seen the show lately, but it's not exactly in its golden age.

I do agree with you there. I still watch, but I think the show is desperately trying not to jump the shark. I try to look at it like it's my dying grandpa, you know? It lived a good life and all good shows must end (except The Simpsons, apparently.) Now I'm going to let it die with dignity, and be there with it to the end.

[–]leejs 0 points1 point ago

Totally agreed, just having him pop out everyone and a while to say something totally messed up is perfect. Using him too much would break the aura of mystery and 'what-the-fuck-itude' built up around him. As much as it would be nice to know more about him it would ruin the character.

[–]nurdboy42 1 point2 points ago

The few lines he gets are often gold

[–]DiabloIIIII 1 point2 points ago

This is stolen directly from South Park. Stan's dad described the 70's and the outdoor orgies he had participated in.

[–]bartlesnjames 1 point2 points ago

Who the hell cares about where this is posted. This is easily the greatest character on the office.

[–]etahme 1 point2 points ago

That's probably not Creed Bratton the character talking but Creed Bratton the actor/60s rock star.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creed_Bratton

[–]Atom_Smasher 5 points6 points ago

This doesn't have anything to do with atheism...

[–]rystesh 1 point2 points ago

Slipped in.

[–]KeepTrack_cakeday 1 point2 points ago

I see what you did there

[–]merebrillante 1 point2 points ago

Loved that episode, especially the closing scene where Dwight gets his GayDarTM

[–]Tukfssr 2 points3 points ago

LOL nice post dude thanks for not initiating a retarded circle jerk and for posting relevant interesting content.

[–]engineer4prez 0 points1 point ago

Best office character by far.

[–]Fly18 0 points1 point ago

It's not gay if it's in a threeway!

[–]Irishinfernohead 0 points1 point ago

What wisdom...

[–]Ampid 0 points1 point ago

This is one of the few quotes posted on /r/atheism that I'm already familiar with.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Who is Creed Bratton?

[–]andrewtuckr 0 points1 point ago

YOU'RE not real, man

[–]blorgus 0 points1 point ago

[–]CuthAllgood 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure i'd notice if another man tried to "slip in".

[–]HealingHands 0 points1 point ago

This isn't atheism.

[–]I_Would_If_I_Were_Me 0 points1 point ago

Classic ol' Creed

[–]theryko 0 points1 point ago

TIL Creed has a last name

[–]notbookies 3 points4 points ago

It's his actual name, as well. Also, he mentions in an episode that he transfers his debt to someone named William Charles Schneider, which happens to be the actors original name, before he changed it to Creed Bratton.

[–]aazav 0 points1 point ago

Why the hell are people pushing homosexuality as part and parcel with Atheism?

[–]SovietBloc -1 points0 points ago

I mean, i guess if that works for him...

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

I know this is a quote from a movie, and that this picture is totally full of shit, but I still think it's funny.
