I used to work at an Apple store behind the bar.

A lady had a similar phone, which she had also washed and dried.

I swapped her phone for free because she was nice and she didn't have any record of doing this before. Except then she got mad that I couldn't get her information off the old phone, because, "Those guys on CSI can do it". She was around 20 years old.

If I can remember, she was good looking, but definitely not enough to merit a free phone in itself. Rule of thumb at the bar: if they gave. The ability to waive the charge, the best bet into be nice. If you're a dick, you'd have to pay.
